HBO:The Night of..Official Discussion Thread

I'm thinking he hopes Nas can help him out with his case sense Nas is book smart. Looks like Feed was running shit in the streets because of the newspaper on the wall that read "King of Queens". I think that's where his real power lies. Not only what he can get down to you inside but what he can get down to your people outside of jail.

Very good series so far. I think this goes eight episodes like True Detective

Yeah that's what I was leaning towards when he brought up the books and Art of War and shit. He wanted someone book smart and was testing his knowledge. I'm hoping that's where its going anyway lol.

The hot water was just him essentially him showing his dissatisfaction with the judicial system and how these dudes getting off on murders. He felt like the guy who killed his sister and Naz were parallel. They built that up from the beginning of the episode. I don't think the water was symbolic. It was just meant to hurt the fuck out of Naz.

Also, Nas is keeping up his claim that he is innocent and Fred said that what the guy who killed niece kept saying. He wasn't buying it

Yeah I saw that, but it doesn't explain why he threw the hot water on him.

Man the shit is pretty self explanatory. Calvin was setting him up from jump, getting him to let his guard down. Dude that killed his niece didn't take the plea and walked, which is why Calvin made sure to tell him that... seems like he wanted to make sure Nas was in there for a minute first. He threw the water and oil on him because he can't get to the cat that actually did it, that's why he told him her name and said "this is for my niece" before throwing the hot oil on him. The smile was because he respected the fact that he didn't snitch, like Nas is finally learning how to move in there.

Man to me it started out slow and I didn't know where the direction was going. I'd stick with it. I'd pick up Strange Things too on Netflix if you can.
Thanks...I finished Stranger things in one day off Kodi. My family and I binged the hell out of it. Stranget Things was one of the best series I have watched. Is this on pat with Stranger Things?

Which one?

I think he was sitting up waiting for them to come get him, that's probably why he started smiling when he saw him coming back dolo.... also why he told him to stay away from Fred in the beginning, he knew it would be his ass if he pulled that shit while Fred was protecting him

I didn't peep it until he told him what he was in there for, up until that point he was giving him pretty good advice.

I said it after watching the 2nd ep and you cats ignored me, WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE STEP FATHER?! I'm getting the feeing he was fucking or wanted to fuck shorty, and then the argument at the funeral.... I don't trust dude man, he's suspect :smh:

oh nah i didn't ignore it you can go back, i have him as prime suspect #1
but i assumed dude was out to get him because basically everybody is out to get him.
the entire jail is out to get him sticky told him this and told him he was on his own. sticky the only one that kept it real with him. you are a mark, the big dog offers you protection, take it.
you deal with the consequences after. he takes the protection he doesn't get his arm burned
and sliced up earlier in the episode.

i hope the lawyer that stole the case gets burned or hit by a car though

and they told him to swear under oath and tell the truth and he did as he remembers it
so fuck them.

Yeah, she's a real piece of fucking work... I hope they expose her for the media whore she is, but it aint gonna happen

I bet that ain't even Calvin's neice. I bet he the one who killed That girl. I got fam who go in and out of Rikers and they said this is the most realistic shit other than actually being in there. Niggas is grimy inside. AND Rikers is a Jail not a prison, to think prison is worse than that shit. Smh

Big firms take pro Bono cases because if you win you actually can make millions. It's a fake sense of free. The attorneys know it's a huge windfall of money if shit goes right.

He's jailed dude with lots of time to groom a fellow prisoner and get his trust while planning some shit like that out of the anger that has been seething inside him over his niece.
Now was that just hot water or did he squirt some acidic shit in there before he threw it?

Yeah I saw that, but it doesn't explain why he threw the hot water on him.

It was hot water and baby oil. Earlier in in the episode when he was explaining to Nas that everything in there is a weapon, he pointed out the water they give them isn't boiling but it's just hot enough to cook their noodles and if you squirt baby oil in it "that shit is like napalm, skin peels right off a nigga shit".

I got two of my boys who works at Rikers. That shit is worst than some prisons. Lotta extortion when you mix lions and lambs

Something wasn't right about that oil scene. If he really wanted to fuck NAS up he would have splashed that shit on him as soon as he got it fresh and hot. Instead, he sitting there calmly stirring the water (thereby lowering the temp) while he talking and showing the pic. Then after all that he pours the room temperature baby oil in there and throws it at Nas. Now I understand that the purpose of the baby oil is to cause the heat from the water to stick to his skin longer, but hell even adding the baby oil takes the overall heat down.

So, I gotta believe ole boy really didn't intend no major harm to Nas. It was all a "push" from Freddy to get Nas to ask for his help.

Im going to wait another 3 weeks so I can watch a few episodes back to back to get a decent feel of the show.

Thanks...I finished Stranger things in one day off Kodi. My family and I binged the hell out of it. Stranget Things was one of the best series I have watched. Is this on pat with Stranger Things?

Only 3 episodes have aired so if I compare it to the first 3 of Stranger Things it's on par.

Son I want no parts of that shit LOL. Walking around with your head on a swivel. How can you not look nervous. Niggas can shank you from any angle. Sleeping out in the open like that??? Naw b. There would be no sleep. My cousin was held up in there and got a buck 50 just for being a Jersey nigga.

Yeah that's the only part I kinda was like "huh?" about. Like Fred got the place on lockdown and he's the boss around there but Calvin steading say some "Fuck Fred" and shit. Seems like that would've been addressed but I guess he was only acting wild like that around Naz because he sure was shook when he went up them stairs.

Nah watch closer...

Early on when Nas told him about making a deal with Fred he told Nas nah don't do that. He wanted to keep him solo so he could get some jailhouse revenge fo his niece.

As long as Nas wasn't down with Fred then there ain't no infraction so it ain't fuck Fred cause Nas was solo.

Now that he is connected nobody won't do shit .
