The difference between this show and Playmakers was that Playmakers made it a point to focus on the NFL's dirt, like passing a blind eye to drugs, piss tests, and generally being shady.
However, this show probably focuses on the players more than the institution, which makes it easier for the NFL to shallow because they aren't made to look like bad guys. Portraiting the players as reckless doesn't risk the brand. Making the brand look dirty does.
Thats fucked up. The NFL rigs the game, then have the pawns perform in a system where they can't win. The players destroy their bodies and their finances as the owners look at them going "tsk, tsk, tsk".
