Gus vs. Jones II postponed, Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones at UFC 178

The real deal, how? He lost. 2nd place is 1st loser. I'd say he was the real deal had he won, but this isn't Rocky. You don't get brownie points for overachieving above expectations of being blown out. Only in UFC's WWE-like marketing universe is Gus the people's champ and deserving of a quick rematch. Otherwise, to be the man you have to beat the man.

Naw bruh, that fight rightful left Gus fans feeling good about a rematch and Jones just won by the strength of the last 2 rounds. One of those first 3 rounds def went to Gus and the other 2 just depend on who you're most biased towards lol. But either way, I'd have to say the hype is now warranted, Gus surprisingly held his own and could've got the decision. He's no Connor McGregor at this point who's not beaten anyone important but getting all this "future GOAT!" hype.

Bruh...DC made Henderson look like an amateur.......:smh:

Henderson is off TRT so he didn't have the aggression he usually has. He also was getting his ass handed to him by shogun before he got the KO. He was on TRT for that fight. He's over the hill and shouldn't be fighting top ranked fighters anymore. That win didn't impress me at all.

I've thought about this fight. I don't see how DC wins. For DC to win he needs to close the distance. I'm sure if he can clinch with Jones he's going to send jones flying. Jones usually will avoid grappling with strong wrestlers he may get a greco or judo throw, but he won't get into scrambles(see Rashad fight). DC will keep him at a distance and pepper him away. The fighters with the style to beat jones are far and few in between. To beat jones I would suggest a very strong BJJ or catch wrestler fighter who is very aggressive with submission from any position(no one fills this role). Or a strong brute with insane athleticism who can KO jones and is hard to take down and hard to KO(Anthony Rumble Johnson).

Jones has handles wrestelrs with ease ... so far.

Hold up..THIS FIGHT HAS ACTUALLY BEEN MADE? OH GAWD this shit is gonna be a BEAST! BOTH these guy's are my dudes shit..If i was forced to pick ONE I'd prefer to win it would have to be Daniel Cormier. I've wondered about this fight many times..i'm glad to see it but i'm also sad that there has to be only ONE winner This fight is a guaranteed Barn Burner..this WILL be BRUTAL!! and nonstop action..ah..that is for as long as it lasts cuz sumbody is gonna get fucked up or KO'd or Both!! :itsawrap:

You do realize the last time we saw Silva his
leg was in two pieces right??

There are some people who believe Anderson silva is still the goat and can never be beat again.

They are even saying he can and will beat bones even after this injury

I'm not saying any names tho

Thank you.
Losing a 5 round fight by a stretch of 2 rounds after only decisively winning 1 round is only impressive when you overachieve above low expectations. Everyone expected Jones to own Gus. When Gus showed up with other plans and gave Jones more trouble than anyone else had, it made fans clamor for an immediate rematch, despite the division hosting other top competition like DC that Jones had yet to defeat. Sure Gus should eventually get a rematch if he fights his way back up through the brackets, but a loss is a loss. He shouldn't have been s scheduled for a rematch before Glover and DC got a title shot.

Made Henderson look like exactly what he is: an old, pass his prime, middle weight mid-level fighter. Nothing DC did to Henderson can be applied to his match up with Jones.

I had no issue with Gus getting a rematch, if he beat some other people (and he did), but there were other guys in the division who had earned shots and Cormier was one. Phil Davis getting his ass whooped opened the door for Cormier and he's earned it. Too bad it took an injury to Gus for him to get it but that's the fight game. That's how Jones got his shot.

Much more dangerous fight than Gus. Honestly, I feel Gus is really overrated and pushed because he is white. Cormier has the tools to beat both. He is the worst matchup in the division for Jones, but I see Jones winning this one right now.

If Cormier can't finish Jones, he loses. The judges ain't giving away any belts via decision unless it's a severe beat down. It should be interesting as fuck.

I still don't know who I want to win. Jones, who I've said would be champion soon after my first time seeing him. Or Cormier who I said was the next HW GOAT back in Strikeforce (who's now a LHW)...? lol decisions decisions.

He only beat Jimi Manuwa in the interim, but I have no problem with him getting a rematch, just not an immediate rematch. Contrary to Joe Rogan's color commentary, the fight wasn't a toss up as to who won. And I used to root for Davis, but he let the Chael Sonnen effect lead him to playing the heel and Rumble made him pay. Personally, if Jones has to fight Glover and DC between the rematch (assuming he beats DC), I think Gus should have to fight Rumble before he fights for the title again.

Earlier today Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier got into quite the scuffle at the UFC 178 media day stare dow. It is now of course what everyone is talking about on Twitter:

I just landed in Bora Bora for my first vacation in a while and it's starting off perfect!!! @dc_mma and @JonnyBones
— Dana White (@danawhite) August 4, 2014

@dc_mma @JonnyBones Chances are you 2 will not read this but what you've done is bad for the sport. I would stop talking about it.
— Matt Hughes (@matthughes9x) August 4, 2014

I didn't throw a punch. Reached down to grab his arms. I pulled dc out. Watch the slow motion vid and you'll see. I broke it up...
— malki kawa (@malkikawa) August 4, 2014

Shoving, throwing punches, Shoes!? But @Sholler_UFC trying to hold JBJ made me laugh the hardest, tough task for anyone, not our best moment
— Brian Stann (@BrianStann) August 4, 2014

@dc_mma looks like Jon got the first takedown :)
— Luke Rockhold (@LukeRockhold) August 4, 2014

Exact reason i dont let ppl close the distance during stare downs http://t.co/fiIoSxqGaW
— Rory MacDonald (@rory_macdonald) August 4, 2014

This is EXACTLY why you MUST train split-kicks! #JonesVsCormier #UFC178 #VanDamme http://t.co/LPnLI94f0t
— Kenny Florian (@kennyflorian) August 4, 2014

Not sure @dc_mma and @JonnyBones are going to be able to wait till September 27 !!! Lol #GoDC
