Everything was just better.

You made a mistake, it didn't haunt you forever like it will now.

I couldn't imagine getting my ass whooped and then my parents uploading it to worldstar

Cartoons were better, they still are better than the ones that come on now.

I remember when I discovered Napster....Used to put like 40 songs in que and leave them shits on ALL night and hopefully lord willing they'd be done in the morning.

I downloaded so many viruses they probably still know my whereabouts

brother from another

Wow nobody mentioned being the human antenna??? Remember the coat hanger as the antenna??? There was always that person in the house who, when they adjusted the antenna they got the better reception and damn-near had to hold the thing in place for the entire show!!!

that used to piss me off as a kid watching football games

before we even gave a fuck about microwaves...............and i still like making popcorn like this at home....

Shit rule number one was always was goes on in this house stays in this house...Get caught talking and get another ass whoopin..

Besides it didn't matter cause your potnas would shit out on the stopp and listen to you getting done in.

What's interesting is that in time before cell phones and facebook, one used to hear about the hot party or get together via word of mouth and they still used to be packed! We just knew where to go and hang out without the need for what we have now. You actually had to talk to people.

we used to hear a party was in a neighborhood where we didnt know anyone. we would go there and turn down the tape deck so we could hear where any music might be coming from. if we found the party, nobody wuz trippin; and we could have a good time, drink, and leave with some #s.

i repeat: nobody wuz trippin

Chitown in the HOUSE!!! The southside didn't see cable until '89 so we depended on ONTV back in those days.

When did Spectravision come out or is that the same thing? I was down south in 82 and was hearing about it then I think.[/QUOTE]

It came out around the same time. OnTV was Ch 44 and Spectravision was Ch 66. If you had an old black and white with an antenna, you could unscramble the signal and see most of the movie.

Some of em.

Farley Funkin Keith before Jackmaster
Scott Smokin Sills
Mickey Mixin Oliver
Ralphie Rosario

I think that's about it and don't know if that is the OG team or not.

You forgot Kenny "Jammin" Jason. That was the original 5 circa 1980

Yeah that's him. I knew I forgot somebody. But man 1980? I didn't know what a mix was or that it existed back then. Is that when Herb Kent, punkin out and preppy music came out? Mainstream disco was still hot although it was slowly starting to wane.

1980 I was in like 7th or 8th grade.

Who remembers the old school dances like the Spank and the Freak and I think there was one called the Skip.

And let's not forget the Jerry Lewis although some called it the Charleston. This was like from 79 to like 81 I think.

She forgot to mention the days before cable existed. There were only like 3 or 4 channels if you included PBS. TV would go off the air at about 3 in the morning.

There were no VCRs either. TV would just be a bunch of snow and a loud static noise. They used to play the national anthem before the station would shut down.

There were also no music videos. You had to wait for the Midnight Special American Bandstand or Soul Train to see your favorite artist perform or just wait for the concert to come to your town.

 Yo you remember back when Osborne used to spend a grip on the fireworks displays for the 4th of July on downtown???

Don't it still feel weird watchin Hogs football and not hearing Paul Eeels?

Remember when the War Memorial Pool had that big ass high dive that no nigga would jump off of head first?

Remember couch forts?

And this dude is killing it like we used to do at the roller rinks.

Oh hell yea, had two of them. I used to pick all the figures that would go straight and leave all the rest of the messed of players for my opponents. Set up my offense and watch them plow over the defense which only had men that would go in circles:lol::lol::lol:

Man listen. After I was born my dad used to take me for drives to get me to fall asleep. However, they didn't have car seats back then. So what pops would do is stand me up and wedge be behind his shoulder while he would drive me around. Yep....I was standing up behind my pops in the front seat of a moving car.

Dude, my Dad had a '72 Duece & a quarter but decided to pick up a two seater Triumph TR-6 (which I know NOW was his "mid-life crisis buy", when the Buick got rear-ended & was in the shop, Dad, Mom & I used to roll in the TR-6, I VIVIDLY remember taking a trip to Kings Plaza on the Belt Parkway riding on the rear deck of that two-seater!

Real kids rode these:

Big-Wheel-1970s.jpg

Mine was so old, it was BEFORE they added the handbrake, you stopped by holding the front wheel and skidding, which of course wore down the front wheel, my Dad had to order a new one and replace it, I wore a hole in the original one, by the time it came the new ones with the handbrake had hit the streets!
