Grant Hill's Misfire

Actually Jemele and Mike Hill have, and several others have also.

The writers I've seen go against it, are ones that probably got labeled a Tom themselves, i.e. Jason Whitlock.
Did you catch Sports Reporters this morning? Jamele didnt clear up that Jalen was giving his opinion as an 18yr old... she just went along with the "does he feel that way today" tone of the conversation

Classic case of "Well, I viewed what Jalen said this way. Therefore, anyone that didn't see it my way is wrong".

I think everyone understood where Jalen was coming from. He just failed to articulate his opinions past and present in an articulate manner.

Actually I did

Did you see the part where she said she felt the same way as a 18 year old and didn't grow up far from him.

I also follow a lot of sports reporters on Twitter, most have defended Jalen, because they knew the context.

Did you watch the documentary?

Every fuckin thing he said was in past tense, and he even explained how his feelings had to do with his dead beat dad.

I swear some of you muthafuckas have comprehension problems or either you're letting your background get involved.

C/S I wonde why Hill got so but hurt anyways. Like I said in a previous thread, if a person told me at 18 they thought I was uncle tom and concluded it with because I was jealous of you I couldn't even be mad at them.

Exactly........

Hill looks even more like a Tom with his response.

In today's bizarro world, too many of the privileged -- sensitive to the slightest slights -- believe that they should never have to feel anything but pride and self-satisfaction about their station in life

My thoughts exactly! :yes::yes:

And the division continues!:smh:

+10000000000000

with all the things going on in the world and united states .... we focusing on some basketball players he said she said nonsense?

If this ain't a distraction what is!!

Hill could have responded with something far more meaningful than that bullshit he wrote. He could have acknowledged the fact that he could understand why Jalen might have felt that way based on the time and environment that created him. No one would argue that. Instead, he behaved like a skinny kid who got picked on until he finally made it. He completely ignored the context in which the comments were made as well as who actually made them. You can tell by some of the comments made in BGOL that there are more than few folks who got their nerdy asses whipped and carry grudges today. They clearly had a flashback to running home screaming to momma.

Exactly...he responded to an 18 y.o. Jalen as a 30+ y.o. man...shit is way blown out of proportion

Divide and conquer!

Welp that just about sums up my stance, thanks everyone.

Listen, Grant Hill Said what He said cause He still
was Hurt by what was said about Him & His team.
I would guess Rose Never said sorry or cleared
things up since then so it was fresh on Hill's mind.
Now that He did we can all move on.
However, Rose WAS WRONG TO BEGIN WITH.
We need to change that whole perception in our culture.

FYI - Hill Never said Rose talked about His FAMILY Directly
He said if you call Him an Uncle Tom You HAVE to be
talking bad about His Parents...who consequently raised Him

Rose was honest to say how he felt as a 18 yr old child and I can respect his honesty. Sometimes people in life dont like you for personal reasons, but what you "represent" based on their own personal background and issues. Grant Hill dumb ass should have easily recognized that and kept it moving while fucking Tamia sexy ass.

A lot of people act like they have never harbored jealous feeling towards somebody based on their "perception" of them and what they represent as a child and even now as adults. Sometimes when certain places or environments don't fit with your background you just say fuck them and use that shit as motivation to hustle harder and compete which is what Rose did and it worked. Rose dont give a fuck and will talk trash to anybody and he was telling all the Duke players they wasn't shit when he was playing back then.

I see a lot of BGOL posters showing your true bitch colors in your responses.

I did. I think he poorly handled the situation, especially with Skip Bayless.

Furthermore, why does he even need to air the part where he thought Grant was a Tom? Why do blacks love alienating each other publicly? There's only one group who wins in the end and it aint us.

What Rose said told more about his insecurities than it did about Grant Hill. He saw in Grant Hill what he didnt have in his own life, the stuff he wanted. And clearly he is over that now so whats the big deal. People were acting like Rose said he still got a problem and gonna fight him on sight or something.
