Gov: Obama signed a bill striking 'Oriental' and 'Negro' from federal code

Yes, I actually think that hope was unrealistic and down right stupid. How is a black man sitting at "the seat" of white supremacy, washed in it, going to be advocates for helping black people?

There was nothing he could have done to help us directly that wouldn't be viewed as favoritism. Even as you black folk say he's done nothing, white people think he's ONLY favored black people.

That's the mindset of white people. The fact that he's there means he's being unfair to them and helping out darkies - that's what he has to work against and ya'll mad?

we are mad because you should TAKE that opportunity to do something.

You are already the fucking president

Do you see Trump mixing his words.

Fuck being viewed as playing favorites cause everyone else is doing it.

I had to council black professionals to hook up other black people with job opportunities cause they too had that fucked up mentality that they will be percieved as playing favorites.

everyone is doing it for their group, fuck that mentality and do for your group as well

Why the fucking investment in "how you look" to other people?

Fuck them and their thoughts.

yall keep saying closet republicans....FUCKING HILLARY is a republican by her actions and fiscal associations. I don't care how many times she calls herself grandmother in spanish....do folks not even pay attention to what she has said and one in the last 30yrs...

Hell, by his actions with the military and civil liberties so if Obama...he is a republican as a 1980's Reagan...check the record, not just his appearance and speeches. Its pretty similar....especially when it comes to immigrant rights (amnesty), anti Black (real issues and words) and military global expansion (drones, torture, ghadaffi).

WTF are folks supposed to do, keep siding with so called elected democrats who keep moving to the center.

Fuck the feelings, look at the records. Sanders is white, a jew and he too voted for the crime bill..so his aint perfect either.

but vote to vote, action to action across the same span vs Clinton....its fucking sad that an independent is far more liberal, pro Black economics than the democrats we as a group (especially in the south) have rallied around.

This shit that the DNC chair is doing is some BULLSHIT, fuck the democrats at this point. Winning aint every damn thing if you are destroying the party in the midst, and all it is SUPPOSED to stand for.

white >>> party

They play that game

Free and good health care been around long in this country before him so this isn't some new phenomenon. Heath care and education are easily attainable in this country.

I take it that you've never had Medicaid, which is bottom of the barrel health care that covered so little...and the free public education, which in most areas is substandard...

I think we are saying the same thing differently.

My point is those accepted groups are the ones that say be patient and persevere . They are the same groups that say don't complain about what they do until you clean up your own house.

And a fact that is never discussed is there are other groups that are in the street everyday but aren't covered by the media.

Here in Chicago there are activist everyday in the trenches working but you don't hear about them because it's only blood that sells.

Yeah I was going to mention the media also, they don't care to cover our issues and it used to be very hard to get national attention for them, however, with the advent of social media, you can bypass traditional media outlets. That is how attention has been brought to police brutality and extrajudicial killings. Not everyone is on social media though. I have friends who would never hear about stuff if I didn't bring it up.

I am glad to hear that. You are apart of 10 million or so people that it has helped. According to some I thought all of them were white since Obama don't help black folks.

The closet republicans here forget that their party was the cause of bringing us all to the brink of financial disaster before our president came in and cleaned shit up while the tea party and their cronies were actively working against him. Not only that but fake as brothers and sisters who should have his back were trying to fuck him too. I don't know how ball and his ilk can take themselves serious because I see straight through their bullshit.

You can't even be honest.

Bill Clinton increased poverty with his ill-advised welfare reform.

Clinton also played a role started by republican deregulation before him to start the collapse by repealing Glass/Stegall.

Big money has corrupted both parties and to try and point the finger at one is dishonest.

Being intentionally blind does make you a down ass brotha.......I supported Obama for over 7 years making the same excuses, saying just wait he is gonna do something...

Don't know why I would think anything different since you mofokrs gave Clinton a pass for playing sax on Arsenio.

Singing Al Green is a lifetime pass.

Social Media is a good tool but just as the days of CoIntelPro it is started to be infiltrated with misinformation. One reason is it doesn't motivate people to go read and learn more, they take whatever is posted as Gospel and run with it.

And as we find out daily how the owners of the platforms, Google, facebook ect are being tools it won't be hard to infect its value for good

this don't work anymore..

He had no issue fighting for the interests of fags and illegals so he could have fought for black as well.

So being president of all Americans means blacks too not just fags, illegals ,women and corporate interests

It hasn't been quick, it has been 8 years in the making

And the hostile environment didn't stop his fight for them so it is valid reason he didn't fight for us ?

Don't ask about white presidents before him that fought for white interests. Him being black meant he had a dog in the fight.
This is my major issue, really my only issue, with B.O.

I would be happy if he made it a federal hate crime anytime blacks were targeted, discriminated against, abused, mishandled, profiled, or killed by any individual or institution, be it private, public, or gov't agency!

We need reform & protection! Not just an investigation by a House committee. We need/ed the Attorney General to have teeth.

Strongest president since I've been around and that's been since about Reagan era...

Doesn't mean he doesn't also come w/ a buncha bullshit too. He's a politician...

I very much agree, on both points.

Politician = playing in the mud

You can't play in the mud & stay clean

Its really all I have been saying.

But some cats here act like its blasphemy to say anything

What I find quite funny is how some that called me an Obama shill for 7 years are now calling me a closet republican..

:lol::lol::lol:

True, but established organizations have a lil more clout than the average tweeter. They are often followed by media outlets. They can issue a call to action. If people in Ferguson pulled it off, organizations with more resources certainly could. Youtube videos go viral daily.

I don't know if it is as you say and they want white approval and acceptance or not, but regardless, "BLM is coming" puts entire cities on alert whereas "NAACP is coming" does not. Now their timeline shows they are doing things, but again, no one hears about it. They are seen as a relic of the past by many. I don't think it is in anticipation of violence, because for the most part BLM protests are peaceful, I think it is due to the sheer mass of people who come out. There is so much potential there.

Nothing but crabs in a Barrell. If you are even Black. Doubtful

We know that about 10 million more people have insurance coverage this year as a result of the Affordable Care Act. But until now it has been difficult to say much about who was getting that coverage — where they live, their age, their income and other such details.

Now a large set of data — from Enroll America, the group trying to sign up people for the program, and from the data firm Civis Analytics — is allowing a much clearer picture. The data shows that the law has done something rather unusual in the American economy this century: It has pushed back against inequality, essentially redistributing income — in the form of health insurance or insurance subsidies — to many of the groups that have fared poorly over the last few decades.

The biggest winners from the law include people between the ages of 18 and 34; blacks; Hispanics; and people who live in rural areas. The areas with the largest increases in the health insurance rate, for example, include rural Arkansas and Nevada; southern Texas; large swaths of New Mexico, Kentucky and West Virginia; and much of inland California and Oregon.

I guess healthcare isn't that important to you all. It's as if you were white and privileged...
Actually, I agree with you. Getting AHA passed was nothing short of a miracle, especially with the Congress he had.

I only knew how bad the health insurance problem was because of the Michael Moore's movie

You have no clue.

I go through the ACA to get my health insurance. Prior to the ACA it would have cost me $400 a month for insurance.
Through the ACA it cost me $240 a month and my max out of pocket is $2500. And you act like everyone premiums aren't going up every year. Mine went up $10 from last year.

My insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield and all my doctors accepted the insurance.

Prior to the ACA I would have probably been denied coverage because of pre existing conditions.

No he could not have gone single payer without a super majority.

No I don't think they did...I think they voted for him the first time to go after the banks and income inequality that would benefit white people.

Fixed it for you bruh. It was never about racial conciliation, but about fiscal conciliation for white hippies who felt they didn't have as much as their parents had.

Well damn, this is a valid point.

This makes me think, "shit, the country was built on white supremacy, it's ingrained in every facet of America... why do/should we expect them to put our name on their house, our name on their mailbox, hell, even have our name on some mail in their mailbox? The most we should expect is to get mail (southern slang for getting money)"

While I wholly understand this way of thinking, I'm conflicted on it and only partly agree with it.

Conflicted because I know that being accountable & culpable for ourselves means fixing our own problems, but damn.... we built this country!

I kinda feel like Jimmy Carter & Lyndon B. both did more for blacks, policy-wise, than the president that looks like us.

I guess I should blame myself, I been known every person that looks like me isn't for me & mine. I guess I believed & had hope.

It's all good, nothing lossed... at least nothing that we wasn't already losing at. We just gotta get back on & stay on our hustle, aint nobody gon do it for us!

I don't follow your posts specifically, but I think most bgolers' issue is with how you criticize the man. It can read as though you're sitting on a black man, and with most of us here being black men, we can internalize it and we can take it personal.

I'm just saying :dunno:

Being a black man doesn't give you a pass.

In fact it may make it worse.....Kinda like when family does you wrong..

But I get your point because everyday I see excuses being made for fucked up shit black men do.

I should have said residual benefit to black folks..

Almost all benefit we have gotten in this country has been just cause without specific intent to benefit us

I told you the truth. I have had my health care through the ACA since it opened.

What level did you sign your mother up on?

If you want to pm me her income level, zip code, and age I could point you to the best plan for her.

Democrat Gives Up Single-Payer Measure to Back Party Leaders
By DAVID M. HERSZENHORN NOVEMBER 6, 2009 1:16 PM

Why Obama snubbed single-payer
A last-ditch push to get a public option into the healthcare reform bill appeared to stall Thursday, as the No. 2 Senate Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, said he’d tell colleagues to vote against an amendment to graft the public plan in using the budget reconciliation process.

Durbin was one of the 41 Democrats who had signed a petition calling for reconciliation to do just that, and the progressive activists behind the effort blasted him. “We need to make clear that strategy would be a major betrayal and signal to voters in an election year that Democratic politicians cannot be trusted to keep their word,” an e-mail to supporters of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee said.

Most Americans Would Prefer Single-Payer Over Obamacare

Despite a persistent assumption that a federal, single-payer healthcare system in the United States is not only too far fetched but too unpopular as an idea to ever be realized, a new poll reveals something rather different.

According to Gallup, most Americans — 58 percent — say they would prefer to see the Affordable Care Act replaced with a government-run health program that would insure all Americans.

The Affordable Care Act, known colloquially as Obamacare, isn’t nearly as popular, as somewhat more Americans would support the repeal of the ACA (51 percent) than would favor keeping it as it is (48 percent). However, it should certainly be acknowledged that support for the ACA has grown gradually since its implementation.

Though a hypothetical single-payer healthcare program seems to be overtaking the ACA in terms of popularity, a significant development on its own, the way opinions break along partisan lines is perhaps the most interesting revelation from Gallup’s poll.

Nearly three-quarters of all Democrats (and those who are Democrat-leaning) say they would like to see the ACA replaced with federal single-payer. Oddly, however, in response to a separate question, a slightly higher number of Democrats and leaners (79 percent) say they want the ACA to remain in place.
