first of all, we would edit in a dark ass suite by yourself for at least 8 hours and sometimes 12-14 hours a day.
then, you would spend a week working on one scene which could be less than 1 second long (30 frames). so you would see the same shit over and over and over again.
then, cause you were working on special effects, you developed an eye for what's real and what's fake and computer graphics and special effects. i couldn't enjoy tv or movies anymore because i'd try to figure out what work was done, what was real/fake, or how to do a better effect.
lastly, the deadlines were super-intense cause working post production, you were the last leg. it was all on you.
after 4 1/2 years, i left the business. some of my co-workers stuck it out at the agency and then opened up their own shop and have done really well for themselves. i had to give it up and focus on my creative aspirations. i have ZERO regrets. the pay can be great. their is always work out there, but it's a thankless, stressful job.
