Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

I hope so.

And I also hope certain folks don't post mad spoilers in this thread every damn week... just to ruin it for those if us who haven't read the books yet. :(
You mean Rocky? He definitely will be posting spoilers and posting spoiler pics that people who read the books will understand and that anyone with common sense will be able to decipher. He is a faggot who likes to be the first to say he told you something.

when is the new book coming out, I swear that fat hobbit is going to die before he finishes these series

Fans of fake history rejoice. I am finally done with the Iron Islands.

And why does that make me so pleased? Well, because it was the last little bit I had to write for our long-awaited and much-postponed concordance, THE WORLD OF ICE & FIRE. Which we've been working on (along with many other things) lo, these many years. ((And yes, yes, it's late, what else is new? Please do not blame my faithful collaborators, Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson. They finished their part ages ago, and tossed the ball to me. What can I say? I remain as slow as ever. And I added a lot.))

Anyway, it's done at last. At least the writing part. Now it is all in the hands of the artists, and our valiant editor Anne Groell. (This will be a coffee table book, heavily and lavishly illustrated, so there's LOTS of art)).

Assuming we don't run into any problems with the art, THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE will be released this fall. October, I think, but don't quote me on that.

I posted this in Season 3 spoilers thread....

How long will HBO’s Game of Thrones run?
Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss tell EW that seven is probably the magic number.

“It feels like this is the midpoint for us,” Benioff says. “If we’re going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season 4 is right down the middle, the pivot point.”
The seven season goal-line has been floated in the media before, but the writer-producers of the acclaimed fantasy hit series says they’re firmer than before that three more seasons sounds about right.

“I would say it’s the goal we’ve had from the beginning,” Benioff says. “It was our unstated goal, because to start on a show and say your goal is seven seasons is the height of lunacy. Once we got to the point where we felt like we’re going to be able to tell this tale to its conclusion, that became [an even clearer] goal. Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us.”

Seven sounds okay to HBO, as well. Or perhaps eight. “I’m expecting to be sitting down with Dan and David to talk season 5 and we’ll talk about how things are looking,” says HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. “We’re all very mindful that they’re having conversations all the time with [author George R.R. Martin]. I think they do feel bullish enough that there’s enough story to deliver through season 7. I hate to sound greedy, but our longest shows have gone 7 or 8 seasons, so seven is a nice long run for us.”

Of course, there’s the whole matter of Thrones catching up to Martin’s source material, since the author has released only five of his planned seven-novel Song of Ice and Fire series. Check out last year’s exclusive deep dive on the issue of Thrones catching up. Thrones returns to HBO on April 6.

Wondering if they consulting GRRM about this. 2 books left. It's ambitious to think that you can wrap up the entire story in 7 seasons when you had to dedicate 2 seasons to 1 book. I read the series and I know how they're going to try to tackle Book 4 & 5, but to do that and have 2 seasons left for 2 books that has yet to be completed is very ambitious. You know those last 2 books are going to be huge.

why cant HBO just dump the whole thing like NETFLIX?

Why the fuck would they do that?

Netflix is a streaming service, HBO is a cable pay service channel, allowing viewers to binge watch their content could cost them money and subscribers.

Anyway watching programs on a week by week basis is better IMO.

I've binge watched Netflix's content (House of Cards, Arrested Development, Orange is the New Black) and it takes away from the enjoyment, mystery, and overall experience of watching the show IMO.

Having to wait another week and reflect on past episodes is better for the viewer IMO.

Imagine if a show like True Detective, or Game of Thrones, were just binged watched when you consider the amount of content and complex writing involved, so much shit would get missed and go over peoples heads.

Naw keep it the way it is, that Netflix model of dropping whole seasons at once won't hold up.

They'll have three seasons left after this season and they don't have to wrap it in 7, they just anticipate and want to do that.

Also you have to consider they know how this all ends, we don't, so they are more aware of what they can do in the time remaining than we are. GRRM is consulted on everything and he said he already has told producers how it all ends just in case something happens to him before the last books are released/finished.

I read somewhere that this season will contain parts of book 4 and 5 already so they may be going quicker than you think.

Season 7 has to be Book 7 since Book 7 will be huge.
Season 6 has to be Book 6 since Book 6 will be huge.
Season 5 has to be Book 4 & 5 since GRRM wrote those two books in a special way for those who read the series which allows for one super condensed season.

My point is that is a lot to cover in 30 episodes.
GRRM is consulted, but those two dudes can do whatever the fuck they want to. And GRRM didn't reveal the whole ending to them, just confirmed some things to them.

HBO already said that they would keep GOT going as long as possible. The reality is that everyone knows that the show will catch up to the books and then shit will be fucked. I seriously doubt that GRRM will pump out two books in 3 years. That shit is not happening. We'll be lucky if dude puts out Book 6 in the next 3 years. :smh:
