Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

most of this will change when you finish reading the novel - but Dany was playing like a sucker in this book, I think she really started to doubt herself because of the way things developed and because of what happened with Jorah. Jon is doing good, but he doesnt understand how much people hate change and they react very poorly to rapid change...

Varys! ftw!

As for Dorne... Yeah they can do it - just look at the world that was built in The Wire, every season they made the world larger, adding more characters, more history, more relationships. By the last season you had a dense world that couldn't be fully comprehended or appreciated by a viewer unless they watched the previous 4 seasons. There is noway anyone could understand or appreciate a Dance with Dragons, without reading the previous novels.

Besides the direction the story is going it will be impossible to leave out Dorne

Spoiler

The lannisters have really gotten a taste of their own medicine the last 3 books. varys and little finger do so much damage with no royal titles or their own army to speak of. It is truly a site to behold.

I'm interested to see how the Prince Aegon and Daenerys situation is going to work out with both of them being the last Targaryen vying for the throne. We already know Varys is backing prince Aegon.

last two??? come on son this is George Martin.... there could be another one lurking in the weeds... we still dont know who Jon Snows parents are......

Just watched the series, loved it despite it being kind of anti climatic

oh this bitch would get the dick with serious fury

-possible spoiler-
yeah -I also believe there will be another Targaryean... as for Varys, he knows about Dany, the dragons and the growing army, I think he intends to use Aegon as a harbinger for Dany - or Dany is the backup if Aegon fails... (BTW- I got the feeling that Tyrion still has a few nagging doubts about who Aegon is- so I wouldn't be surprised if he is a fake a creation of Varys)

What do y'all think about Arya's education?

ok just finished reading....

SPOILERS BELOW.

Varys: I'm a bit confused why Vary's is sowing chaos now, when he worked so hard to avoid it earlier with his attempt to spare Ned. What is his true motive?

SMH @ Jon Snow. He was coming along so well and and after all this time NOW he wants vengeance. If he is truly gone at least he has a chance to live a "second life". This was hinted at pretty strongly in one of the earlier chapters about the wildling skin changer.

Arya: Is she going to be a WARG too? Damn, if she manages to survive to adulthood she's going to be a PROBLEM.

Daenary: Ok I get the point now. She can't be half a dragon. It's either "Fire and Blood" or she won't survive

My big question is what are Jamie and Brienne up to now?

after reading the epilogue again. I think Vary's acted due to the fact that White Raven had been sent.

The coming of winter signifies something that Varys is trying to make happen or prevent.

Varys (and Robert) knew that all that held the kingdom together was the strength of Lannisters Barratheons and Starks, and a lot of lords were just waiting for an opportunity. None of Varys' pieces for the Targaryeans were in place yet, and he knew that killing Ned would start a war with the north and that others would take advantage of it.

Martin already talked about snows mom in book 2 or 3. Arya was told who she was and why she committed suicide. We have not seen her body so we don't know for sure (typical Martin) but she has been discussed.

Remember that brienne was ordered to be hanged by catelyn because she did not trust her about Jaime changing for the better and at robbs wedding the man that stabbed him in the heart said "Jaime sends his regards". I think brienne was cut free because she agreed to bring Jaime to justice (remember she spoke a unknown word before her chapter ended in book 4). I think she is bringing Jaime back to catelyn so she can dish out justice upon him for orchestrating the murder of Robb (although this looks like something the dornish or someone else set up to make it look like Jaime was responsible).

The only problem is that he was perfectly willing to let Dany be assassinated in A.G.O.T. In the book, there were two separate attempts that were only foiled by happenstance. Varys could have made sure that those attempts never got that far if he truly didn't want it to happen.

We know now he had another ace up his sleeve but you would think a careful man like Varys would want to keep all his options open

It's clear that he and Illyrio would like to see a Targaryen back on the throne, but the question is WHY? They couldn't have known for sure that they would get actual dragons along for the bargain, when they started down this path.

- SPOILERS-

the story told to Arya was a rumor doesn't add up with the story told by Jon's "milk brother"- and it sounded out of character of Ned...
In ADWD they kept touching on Rhaegar's relationship with Ned's sister- with different people either claiming it was love or Rhaegar considered it a mistake - thats going to develop into something...

I don't think Jon is going to have a second life... Melissandre will bring him back - same way the red priest did for the un-dieing lord and Lady Stark

I don't know... Varys was brought to court by the Targaryans, and there are great rewards in King making. Shoot they probably started scheming when Jofferey was born and they saw it wasn't Robert's kid.

It's clear they started before that. Cause Aegon (or the kid who's been told he's Aegon) and Daenarys were already born before Robert became king. Vary's had already taken care to see that they were safely out of westeros before Joffrey was even conceived.

When the children were saved, I don't think they had a plan, saving children is not the same as plotting to put one of them on the throne, I could also see Varys keeping his options open. I didnt see where Varys helped Viserys and Dany escape- but he definitely kept them alive though... I just realized why he didn't stop the assassination attempts on Dany... Viserys was still alive then and Viserys was the one he needed for the pact with Dorne etc...
The deal that was made with Dorne was done in Pentos so it had to be a few years after Robert took the throne, cause Dany and Viserys were always running before they arrived in Pentos -so I think it was after Jofferey was born

As for Aegon I think he may be a fake, but if he is authentic, then you would be right.

Naw, I think he is authentic. Silver hair and violet eyes are strictly a Targheryen trait.

~SPOILERS~

Varys had the right of it when he told the Regent about the king which is coming. All sides claim rights which were not theirs in the first place, while the coming tide is lead by one groomed in all aspects of his kingdom to rule as his duty.

I do like how the cogs are falling into place here...

Roy Dotrice and Hannah Murray have joined the cast of HBO's Game of Thrones, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Dotrice, who lends his voice to the audiobook adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, on which Game of Thrones is based, will play Pyromancer Hallyne, chief of the Guild of Alchemists. Murray, who appeared on the British version of Skins, will play Gilly, one of the many women living with Old Craster who wants to escape his oppression.

Liam Cunningham signs on for Game of Thrones

Dotrice and Murray are the latest to join an ever-growing guest cast for Season 2. Two weeks ago, Liam Cunningham signed on to play Davos Seaworth, along with Stephen Dillane as Stannis and Carice van Houten as Melisandre. Earlier, Gwendoline Christie was cast as Brienne, while The Tudors actress Natalie Dormer will play Margaery Tyrell.

Nonso Anozie cast as Xaro Xhoan Daxos

There was some more Game of Thrones casting news released today. Via Westeros.org, we learn that British actor Nonso Anozie will be playing Xaro Xhoan Daxos.
HBO’s given us wee scoop: the indentity of Qartheen merchant-prince Xaro Xhoan Daxos, who will provide Daenerys shelter and support in the ancient, decadent city of Qarth… For a price.
Cast in the role is British actor Nonso Anozie (Facebook page), a noted theatre actor who set a record for the youngest actor to play the part of “King Lear” in a professional production (at the age of 22 or 23), and won the Ian Charleson Award in 2005 for his performance in the titular role in the Cheek by Jowl production of “Othello”.
Winter Is Coming: An interesting choice. He doesn’t match the description given Xaro in the book. But having pale skin isn’t a huge deal to the character or to the Qartheen people in general. As Elio notes, as long as they keep all Qartheen looking similar to avoid the criticisms leveled at the casting of the Dothrakis, I am fine with the change. And Anozie seems a talented actor who fits the HBO mold. Welcome to the cast Nonso!
