I'm still loving my G1 after a year and half. I rooted my G1 months ago and i'm on the latest CM 5.0.8. I'm pissed at Tmobile cause they tricked me into coming off contract to save about 5 fucking dollars a month but they forgot to tell me that I still had to complete my two year contract that I got when I signed on. So what they did was fucked me out of getting a discount on my next phone when my contract expires in April.

Ok, I'm not on contract when comes to having to pay full price for a new phone but I'm contract in reference to the G1 that I got from them when I first signed on. If I would not have taken their bullshit 'no contract/on contract crap, I would have been able to get a discount on my next phone. They gonna loose me come April 2010 and I'm going to Sprint for the EVO and i'm gonna root that motherfucker. Hopefull by April the EVO will have Android 2.2 and all the kinks will be worked out of the EVO by then.

Damn this thread slowed down. Quick question.. has anyone heard of the possibility of buying one of the overseas Motorois and using a US Tmobile SIM? It supposedly supports HDSPA (sp?). Tmobile is really blowing the shit out of me constantly dropping the ball when it comes to U.S. hardware. :smh:

what it do Dro! I don't think it can be done, if so you really would get bad speeds, but i've saw many post on it and for the most part everybody is saying NO. I think if it worked we'd see more cats with dope phones in America yet.

here's a post made a while back on your question

FINALLY...
Here is the dump of apps ive collected over the year since ive had my G1. As stated before this is a mix of rooted/non-rooted/1.6/2.0/2.0.1/2.1 apk files. Most SHOULD work with whatever firmware your on. If not and its a free app but come with a activation key, just d/l the trail version and all is good.

AppControl: http://www.mediafire.com/?jmknjok2nhr

And also astro users, goto market and download an app called "AndExplorer". Its a little simpler than astro and the UI is more friendlier

Just place the folder on your SD and use this app to install. This app is MUCH better for installing and backing up your apps. Astro aint got shit on this as far as keeping your apps in line and updated. This app ACTUALLY LETS YOU BACKUP PAID APPS. So what im getting at is that you can purchase an app...back it up...then get a refund and say the shit wasnt what you thought it was **MAKE SURE THEY GIVE REFUNDS BEFORE PURCHASE**

So here it is..enjoy ppl

I'm having an issue running appz from the SD with AppControl tho. I'm gonna keep fucking with it 2nite and hit you on the PM if I have any questions

I tried Swype but I have a Droid and I can type much faster using my physical keyboard.

But, if your phone does not have a physical keyboard, then you owe it to yourself to give Swype a try.

If you have ever transferred one of your favorite video files to your phone for watching on the go only to find the file type was not supported by the default Android media player, you fully understand the limitations to the video codecs supported by Android out of the box. Converting said videos to the proper formats is a time consuming process that may be more trouble than it is worth, but RockPlayerBase aims to change that. The lightweight video playback application supports a large range of popular codecs including DivX, AVI, XviD, MKV, and more.

You can’t grab RockPlayerBase in the Android Market just yet, but that isn’t stopping you from installing the beta file to your handset. You’ll need Android 2.1 or higher to free your phone from its current supported file types and take it to the realm of mobile video powerhouse. Once installed, simply launch the app, choose the video from the file browser, and you’re on your way to watching all the downloaded episodes of True Blood your heart desires.

I just tested it out. Dragged and dropped Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and it worked like a BEAST. This is just the demo can't wait for the full version.

Voice command and voice input for Android are great features, but they aren’t always available everywhere. Vlingo is an Android 2.0+ app that adds deeper voice control options for the phone, and frees you from becoming the idiot driving down the highway while looking down at your phone in an attempt to text someone.

Vlingo includes a widget that quickly launches the app and then awaits command. To send a text, simply say “Text Katie that I have to move dinner up to 6 PM since movie starts at 9. Is that okay?” Vlingo will then send the message to Katie.

The same can be done when you need to send someone an e-mail, search the web, dial contacts, update Twitter, open an application, or find locations in Google Maps. Keeping the hands-free theme going, Vlingo also includes SafeReader, a feature that lets users hear incoming text & email messages while you drive (or sit at your desk).

Vlingo costs $9.99 in the Android Market but we have 20 copies to giveaway for free. Here’s the simple way to snag one:

Go to the Androinica Facebook page and become a fan.
Write something on our wall – words of encouragement, suggestions for the site, etc. – and end the message with #vlingo.
We will then select 20 people at random and contact winners on Thursday, July 1, 2010. Current fans are also eligible.
All entries must come from someone with Android 2.0 or higher (Droid, Desire, EVO, Nexus One, etc.) because Vlingo is not compatible with previous Android versions.

Anyone who joins the group but does not leave a comment with the words #vlingo will not be entered.

Good luck, everyone.
