Yeah, I'm familiar with all that. Its just that I had my eyes and heart set on the Hero. Yes, I know that I can buy it some where unlocked but I never anticipated having to pay 700+ for a phone that I will ultimately only be able to use on TMo Edge Network.

Kinda old but haven't seen anybody mention it. But here is an app on the marketplace that I have on my g1 that I use more than anything else. Its called Qik. Its basically a live stream video app that you can use over your Wi-Fi or cellular signal.

another app i think android users would like is the spare parts app in the market it allows u to speed up ur phone and have some cool transitions...I use it with Opn Home n Advanced Task Manager and it works great I have no lag n my g1 is quicker than ever.

Your not the only one. I'm so excited about how much google/android community listens to the consumer.

There was an article on engadget a while ago that said that they are not just stopping at Donut, but that they are already working on another update and that there will be plenty more to come.

Best part about it is that we're not forced to buy another phone (iPhone) to tap the potential of our phone.

Oh, here is another app, you might be interested in called TRAPSTER that will help you locate speed and traffic cameras and police hiding spots so that you can avoid getting a ticket.

Dawg, I'm to worried about bricking my phone to root. There was a point where I thought that if I bricked it I would just get the Hero afterward but since its not coming to T Mobile (yet) I'm just going to hold off.

Hands down, the shit is tempting as fuck though.

Rooting is easy as shit. I did mine like 6 months ago, the problem is finding a stable ROM to run. I dont use any of the HERo roms, theyre too buggy.

I use JesusFreak ROMS, he makes he fastest stable ROMS for the g1.

Stop bein scared, its easy.

the best one IMO and thats stable is Cyanogens 3.6.8.1 or 3.6.5 ( error free, everything works )...
drizzy drakes newvision 2.8 is pretty fast - but no bluetooth, and led's dont work... ( hero phone doesnt have led lights at the top, the trackball lights up )..

Hey, can someone tell me if they are having this issue and how they got it to stop.

When ever I get an email, I get a TWO text messages informing me that I got an email. I think that's a bit redundant and I'm very very annoyed at this point. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this shit??

not really, you can download the Phonebook app in the market, that has a much better dialer than stock...I used to rock with Phonebook but they didn't make a "set as default" option when I did so i deleted it...been in there lately and seems like they have updated for cupcake and now have a default feature, check it out
