Fucking retire already: Roy Jones Jr suffers another brutal KO!

damn :smh: roy was/is probably my favorite boxer of all time, loved watching him fight, who letting him do this shit

That's what happens when you're whole career is based on athleticism and no skill. When his speed left he had no skill to fall back on and couldn't defend himself against mediocre boxers. Smdh...

I think he had skill but he definitely used his athleticism as a crutch. He was so much quicker than everyone else. He never really relied on the jab to set up shots, and took crazy ass angles on his power shots. Maybe in his mind he still thinks he can do that. He never went out and got a different trainer to teach him some new shit. Gatti had to get a new trainer to teach him how to actually box, and not brawl every fucking opponent.

He used to clown, but leading up to the fight he was a relatively respectful to his opponents.
But putting on a show is what made boxing fun from Ali, Foreman, Sugar Ray and Roy to name a few had great personality.

We lack that in boxing now

Roy spent the majority of his reign at 175, not 168 and 160. Both reigns at middle and super-middle (less than 2 years) were short. The reason why is because Roy didn't have a long reign @ 160 due to only defending the title once against the Punching Postman Thomas Tate before moving up to beat Toney for the 168 strap. Both Toney and Hopkins had longer reigns @160 is why they are ranked higher. It's not like Roy outclassed Hopkins, he only outlanded him by 50+ punches over the course of 12 rounds.

You make some great points, and I actually agree with all of them except the last statement. Roys fight with B Hop wasn't really that close, and the fact that he out landed Hopkins by 50 plus punches is actually indicative of that in that you have a fight with two fighters who were primarily counter punchers, B Hop has always dictate a slow pace, and you will not be able to find another fight especially in his prime where someone out landed him by that number of punches.

That's 4 punches per round. Not THAT big of a spread.

You kind of missed my point fam but cool... I feel you

I got your point. But considering Bhop was a defensive counter-puncher, being outlanded by 4 punches per round is really not than big of a deal. Hopkins depended way more on counterpunching that RJJ

I scored it 7-5. Although, I have no problem with a 8-4 score in Roy's favor.
