Fuck yo NFL Boycott

Yeah, won't be any unity. The problem I see is folks will throw around the 'coon' or 'tom' label for people whose livelihood depends on playing, coaching, or talking about the game. Meanwhile, it costs nothing for them to stop watching but they will watch.

Kap deserves a lot of credit for putting it on the line for folks who won't have his back. And I'm not talking about the fucking players either. :smh:

The NFL was a great platform to bring awareness, but players are risking a lot going against the white establishment that pays their salary.

Unfortunately, police brutality isn't enough of an issue for majority of black folk to unite on a large scale. Also, there are many black folk that don't care about football anyway, so they are probably out the loop of what's going on in the NFL.

Slavery is about the only thing I can see uniting us. Or bringing back Jim Crow laws.

It was too easy to change the narrative of the protest.

Here's an excerpt from the Code/System/Concept book by Neely Fuller Jr. that explains your disappointment in the lack of "unity" of black people boycotting the nfl:

Question: What should you expect to receive from your efforts to end Racism and/or produce Justice?

Answer: According to Compensatory Counter-Racist Logic, you should, for the most part, expect to receive:

1. Disapproval.
2. Disappointment.
3. Discomfort.
4. Death.

Explanation: A study of the past shows that all attempts at ending Racism, and/or producing Justice, has resulted in disapproval, disappointment, discomfort, and/or death, for great numbers of people who began to have a serious effect against those powerful people who are opposed to ending Racism, and/or who are opposed to Justice being produced.

- from page 246 of The United Independent Compensatory Code/System/Concept

All those are good causes. My analogy was that today’s black folk don’t stand up like the old generation. We pick and choose and look for reasons to keep doing dumb shit. We gotta be convinced. “NFL could call us N’s in a press conference and plenty of us would go “Man those game tickets awful cheap. I’m gonna go.”

You don’t have to boycott or feel how I do. That’s cool too.

But that's the thing.... I boycotted the NFL a year ago like everyone else that knew they were on some bullshit. My viewership waned in years prior due to the poor product, draconian disciplinary procedures, and racist practices. This is year two of boycotting this shit for a lot of black people. Getting upset about what Jerry Jones is doing is rather mute and reactionary considering what's been going on for the past two years.

I'm just not upset about it like you are because the league is dead to me. Respect

Especially with you know who in the white house. The fact is that Kaep alone has had a bigger effect on the game with him not being in the league than he has since he's been playing. Dan Wetzel said the other day to just have all the players stay in the locker room like they do in college football. Then you dont have to worry about who's standing or sitting.

But to the larger issue, what is the end game here? What do we want to result from the protest anyway?

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...-90-million-social-justice-pact-idUSKCN1IN2ZI

This is a start, but are we asking for the NFL owners to come and speak out? What are the metrics to measure on how we know when the efforts of the NFL protest will be successful?

yeah, that’s a start. But it also could be something to shut up the players and protest because what is 90 million to the NFL anyway?

People find a way to do things they wanna do, and find excuses for things they don't wanna do...

Watching pro football was a tradition I enjoyed with fam and friends for over 50 years. It defined my Sundays and I had a hard time giving it up initially. My thought was that when there was a national, organized boycott, I'd join in, but after that didn't happen, I had to check myself and turn off the tv. It no longer was about what others were or weren't doing, I couldn't support a league...even just watching on tv, if a black man trying to help ME was being oppressed. My integrity is worth more than pro football.

i'll continue to watch football on tv. i'll support the players who play and speak on the issues in our lives and our communities. this has been their dream , changed their lives, allowed them to feed their families. many pro players use their nfl salary and return back home to help make their family and communities lives better...i can't knock that. if they don't want to do what Kap was doing so be it.
the message is getting lost since you know who started speaking on it. the players got a platform thanks to Kap....now I feel they need to take the narrative away from these stadiums and organize in our communities and our government buildings, police stations. speak up on their racists bigoted owners (cowboys) and start a fund for kap.....maybe some already have.

I'm so glad this is a non-issue for me. Niggas getting up in arms over a bunch of other niggas throwing a leather ball up and down a field. The mofo that thinks this ridiculous activity is more important than black people being shot in the streets needs his ass kicked. Think about it. There are black people out there that are more invested in watching strangers play a game and other strangers getting rich from that game than the possibility of a loved one or themselves getting mistreated by a cop. I hope I don't know any of these dumb-asses.

If you see your boy getting beat up by a bunch of guys but he's just standing there taking it, do you jump in and help him? Do you beat up both your friend and his attackers? Thats your nfl protest.

I am willing to invest my time and money into something that makes sense and will help our cause. This is an opportunity for us to come together and do something meaningful. Protesting the nfl or all big businesses for that matter. If you look, the same racism exists all over the place too. I don't have the answer. But would like to have a dialog about different things that can be done to improve racism in thic country.

How about setting up a company that monitors police misconduct and stays on their asses?. Like an anti police brutality lobby group. Even small cases can get attention. We could get funding help by nfl players.

I personally know at least three Black people that are boycotting along with me. It's not everybody, nowhere near a majority, but it's enough to cost the NFL a Poppa John's sponsorship. I can't imagine how many other sponsors are getting second thoughts behind the scenes.

Miami police and first responders shitting on the players too now. Those racist assholes can fall in line, so we need to.

Fuck that boycott shit. 2 guys kneeling isnt going to take things to another level. Thats done as much as it can. Someone in the league needs to figure out the next move. Dont stop at kneeling.
Yes stop kneeling. Pointless. They’ve already changed the narrative.

I disagree..its important to show a display to keep the conversation going...Colin Kaepernick is having more of an effect out of the league than in the league. Even if he and Eric Reid did sign with a team, that wouldn't end police brutality and black people being shot with impunity. I agree we do need to come up with next steps, but just in kneeling or the raising of the fists, keeps the conversation going..i think its a conflict for the black players because they know by being in the league that many of their "kinfolk" are boycotting, they have the financial mean as well as the national platform to change the system.

Kinda surprised Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid haven't gone to the CFL yet...at least they can keep their skills sharp in playing football. I figure Justin Trudeau would kneel with Colin just to piss Trump off..lol

Good points. It’s as simple as not spending money with the league. Use the black twitter and other large platforms to get the word out on companies who sponsor the nfl to boycott. Every black person should be posting the logo of the companies they are boycotting. Create a database nationwide and we avoid em. They will feel it when sponsors pull out. It’s a simple as no blacks enlisting in the military anymore, no blacks buying Fords, Budweiser, etc. We should stop arguing with the league and cut our dollars off like angry women do the pussy. Basic. No players need to do anything, we need to take it from here. Then patronize the businesses Keap and Ried get support from.

Finally kats are getting it...

This is what I’ve been saying since day one.

It is the one good thing that they show Sorority sisters told me.. if you want change.. you don’t attack the snake.. you attack the man feeding the snake.

That’s why I don’t jump into the protest threads.

That unity shit ain’t happening bruh. Sooner you accept that the less angry you’ll be about it. Unless you want to be upset about it, but that’s not healthy for ya.

Something much bigger than the nfl is has got to happen. Like white folks would have to actively force enslave us again in chains for us to unite.
Fuck!

But damn you’re right

I liked the idea of not spending $60 on Madden, and donating it to Kaep's foundation (or any Black-positive organization that's doing something).

The initial narrative of the protest.

Boycotting the NFL seems to be the trendy thing to do with the crowd that defines themselves as "woke" or people that were never football fans to begin with.

I'm not boycotting any football because I enjoy the sport not to mention there is no end game for the boycott.

I haven't touched Papa Johns since their owner was against the ACA (09-10), I thought we were all boycotting Papa Johns since then but apparently not.

Apparently people didn't want to start boycotting Papa Johns until it was reported he dropped the n-word during a conference call a few months ago.

The boycott is having some affect, the NFL opt to let the players stay in the locker room while the anthem is playing it's not what you would want but business associated with the NFL are suffering, ask Papa racist Johns. EA sports for Madden is not advertising as aggressively as in the past, starting to NFL is adverting more to the women viewers in their latest commercials. But the bottom line will police brutality against blacks will change? Will CK get his job back before he age out? Only time will tell. But I know one thing this boycott is showing more and more how much we have NFL players cooning for their masters. It's one thing choosing not to take the knee but to speak out against why we shouldn't to take the knee speak volumes on how much you don't like your race.

Boycotting the NFL sponsors would literally mean never going to a concert (Ticketmaster), never using a bank card (Visa), never shopping online (Visa, microsoft, fed ex, intel), never using a bus, airplane or rental car (Bridgestone, castrol), Never buying a newspaper, using a coupon or eating a grocery store sample (News America Media). You would also have to boycott chewing gum (Mars/ Wrigley) and any food that uses oats, cornmeal, beef or dairy products (Quaker/Dairy Management Inc). It means your girl would literally have to go "on the rag" because practically all tampons and pads are made by NFL sponsor Proctor and Gamble.

https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2017/09/08/NFL-Season-Preview/Sponsometer.aspx

and that's not even counting the sponsor subsidiaries, team sponsors, stadium sponsors, network sponsors or companies that rely on the sponsor's products.

Is the level that you boycott the NFL? Is it the level you insist others boycott at too? If that's the case then what is your plan for participants to function without these companies?

I'll admit that my DJ service depends on products and services made by Intel, Microsoft, Fed Ex, Castrol, Bridgestone and Visa. One of my clients is the San Jose Earthquakes who's stadium is owned by Extreme Networks. Several of the bars I play in serve food containing beef and dairy products. Does this make me part of the problem? Should Black people boycott my DJ services based on this?

What is the END GAME for the boycott?

One of Colin Kaepernick's main concern was police brutality and the police being held accountable for their actions.
I know that you can not legislate what is in someone's heart, however, you can construct legislation to make the police aware that they will potentially suffer a severe penalty for their actions for one:

1. Questionable shoots (resulting in the death of or injury of alleged assailant) will be under immediate review, during the review the officer will be suspended without pay.

I was watching this video with Eboni K. Williams on the "Breakfast Club," and I think she is on to something. Change the legislation so the language in the statutes takes the discretion away from the judges and prosecutors in these cases (We will assume you are "Guilty until proven innocence," when it involves the shooting or killing of an unarmed individual).

IMO it's going to take MUCH more than an NFL boycott to affect that kind of legislation. Also, holding anyone as "guilty until proven innocent" in any circumstance is a dangerous precedent.

My goal is to boycott until the NFL

-Runs public service ads informing people of their rights in police encounters (similar to their domestic violence campaign)

-Allows players to use the NFL as a platform to express their personal beliefs without censure (This could be symbolized by a team signing Kapernick)

-Starts a legal fund for the victims of police shootings and their families

-Unilaterally stands up to the police and essentially says "Denying our fans protection because of the opinions of certain players is a flagrant violation of the 1st Amendment. Now get your ass to the stadium, suit up and do your fucking jobs!"
