for all you college haters what do you do for a living?

Your question does not apply to me, because I have a degree, but...I personally know this Middle Eastern dude that builds businesses up and flips them. He has no degree.

Sounds like a person would would be on a terrorist watch lists. Ever heard of money laundering? I agree with Dr. Truth niggas on here quiet as a mofo. They got all that talk about you don't need a degree or they pushing a 7 series but afraid to say what they do.

The little bit of shit he did was real small time. He was more of a user than a dealer. Also, please go back and read and quote everything I wrote.

you dont need a degree, but that shit sure does help. brothas are fucking afraid of education. it ashame. young black male in my class told me that reading aint in his blood. i wanted to slap the piss out of his black ass...by bad though, the whiteman will probably do that to his ignorant ass for the next 4-5 decades of his life.:hmm:

I dropped out of college to go to Fire Academy.I've been a firefighter for close to a decade and making 150K this year which is twice what my highest paid college homie makes. Not saying a degree is a waste, but people have to realize that it is a tool and not a magic wand.
unless you're the fire chief you're working a shit load of overtime to make that 150k. If your highest paid college educated homies make 75k than you don't know too many smart people with college educations.

Yeah especially with the internet. You can learn all that shit on your own. why spend $50,000+

The only way i will go to school is if i want to be a doctor or lawyer or some like of engineering course.

The Rest of the degrees are garbage especially in 2010.

Especially black women, they be trying to play me talking i am college educated so you don't know what your talking about.

Im like bitch if your so smart why you driving a 92 honda?? I drive a S600 Benz and have a high school diploma. You tell me who's more smarter.
LMAO!!! They're probably trying to play you because you're fuckin dumb enough to say shit like,"who's more smarter" LOL! Don't worry, dumb bastards like yourself usually don't do very well on the college level anyway. You saved yourself and your family a lot of money.

Its not that common for people to be making 75k especially a few years after college. Most degrees at your every day university won't make that. Especially if its a strong liberal arts degree. People laugh at folks who attend the community college but you can make a lot of money getting a degree from a 2 year school. All those health and technical programs bank.

...but like someone said previously.... "most people" are consumers, and not producers... not just most black people. Do black people run/own businesses less than asians, whites, etc... most likely, sure. ...but do most asians, whites, etc, own/run businesses? Hell no. I live in NJ...shitload of Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Jewish people, anglos, etc.... and the vast vast majority are doing the 9 to 5 thing.

Your words don't do enough justice around here, most black people have a consumer mentality and not a producer one.

Seems like only a few mofos are interested in this shit. PM me. All the info I'll drop is FREE and TRANSPARENT and you can even work along so you know how the fuck things are going and you can set up your shit along mine so I can help you through as you learn the ropes. Ninjas Don't Sleep!

drop the info man

lmao this is so funny, out of all the replys to this thread only like 3 told everyone what they actually did for a living. All i see, is college is the white man's slave system, books are evil, education is poison blah, blah, Goddamn i didnt wanna believe it, but maybe uncle ruckus from the boondocks and just white people as a whole is right, niggas hate the read, niggas hate to learn something new, niggas hate working, if it doesnt have nothing to do with raping, selling drugs, or pimpin hoes. So our ancestors in africa that went to timbuktu university were uncle toms too? being a slave to the system? GOddamn niggas are dumb. just makes my head explode.

For those who want to know how I earn money:

1: Computer Repair Storefront
2: Contract work for two local school systems (currently replacing the old, antiquated PBX with Asterisk)
3: Linux Technical Writer
4: Receives stipend as Linux Kernel Developer (Embedded/Atheros 9132)
5: Optimizing/Admin Dedicated Servers (had BGOL running like a champ at one time)
6: Youtube Partner Progam (not much, however I was surprised they contacted me)

I'm not rich by a long shot, but I do okay. I occasionally work more than 8 hours four times a week. However, it's because I want to. I love doing what I do. I actually don't even consider it work. I get paid for my hobby.

Fellas keep mentioning that you can't get rich by getting a degree. It's sad that so many people's ambitions in life are driven by money. No one values knowledge anymore? Being "rich" won't make you a happier person. I'm just saying...

I love these threads, the comedy in here is sometimes funny and sad at the same time.

College degree is something that gives you credibility, but more importantly OPTIONS. If you pay attention a traditional university teaches you how to get along with people of varied backgrounds, time managment, and communication skills (written/oral). Those skills learned between the ages of 18 -22 are ones that will help you for the rest of your life.

I know people without college degrees that do "ok". But the problem is that they lack OPTIONS. They were GOOD employees at their job and worked their way up. The problem is that they can't LEAVE that employer... because another company is not going to hire them in at anywhere near the same salary/wage without a college degree. These same individuals also get salty, everytime the company hires a kid straight out of college at the same PAY that it took them 10 years to work up to.

A college degree is not a guarantee for success. Drive, ambition are important as well. But the degree does give you the option of finding gainful EMPLOYMENT easier than the person without it. Please keep in mind that the unemployment rate is close to 10%. But for those with a college degree it is under 5%.

According to the US CENSUS BUREAU the average income for a person over the age of 25 with just a highschool diploma is $26,505...but $49,303 with a 4 year degree.

this thread is hilarious
whats with everyone coming in here saying this thread is BS yet they wont answer the question

How is it going to make a difference to you whether they answer or not? It's not as if you're going to get some networking opportunities on here.

C'mon dude. The thread was made to see what everyone does as their occupation. Everyone in here can take the time to make responses as to why college isn't needed yet they don't want to reveal what they do for a living (which was what the thread was started for). You're a lawyer aren't you? Be smarter than that
I don't care what these dudes say in here but the fact that most of the people in here with no degree won't actually answer the question says evrything you need to know.

I like this.

A lot of folks don't have hobbies and therefore, don't see the plus side to pursuing a career that they will enjoy. Many people that have careers love what they do, and don't think of it as a job or slavery.

Your question does not apply to me, because I have a degree, but...I personally know this Middle Eastern dude that builds businesses up and flips them. He has no degree. He owns some property also. The first business I helped him build back up was when I was 22, so he had to be 23 or 24. I haven't seen him since, 2008, but he had built up a liquor store and flipped it in Carolina, and the last business I saw him running was a hotel with a restaurant attached to it. I can't lie, he busts his ass.

Good for him, but not everybody is money driven. The shit you learn, the people you meet in college etc is something you can't get if you don't go. It's an experience to network and learn about shit you normally would not have an interest in. It's about learning more about yourself and the world. Only a dumb fuck goes to college thinking you'll get rich once you graduate. It's not about that and never has been about that. It's a building block, if you ever want to go back and get a masters or advanced degree you CAN'T unless you first go to undergrad. Businesses fail all the time, if your shit fails what the fuck do these people have to fall back on? Their fake ass scams and hustles? Fuck outta here.

You asked a question, I answered it you ungrateful prick.

man this thread is dumb.

some people do well without degrees. it's definitely possible. your plumber, mechanic and others are making just as much or more than alot of mid level office workers. also, i know more than a few successful business owners that never completed college.

but let's remember that not every person is cutout to be an owner or entrepreneur and black folks at all levels of education are getting hired at much lower rates than other races wit the same credentials.

so how in the world can you argue the value of a basic college education? that's plain dumb. it may not be for you but the value is definitely there. i've never heard anyone say that they'd be rich if it wasnt for that pesky undergrad degree holding them back.

REAL TALK.

I've never told anyone school wasn't shit. Everyone's story is different. In my case I dropped out of college because I had an opportunity to start a business. 16 years later I'm still in business, still growing my business and pulling in over 6 figures a year. It's tough but rewarding. <---keep in mind I have a special set of skills that average folks don't have and the ability to effectively "exploit" those skills to my financial advantage.

I know people with degrees that are broke as shit and I know people without them that are driving Mercedes. At the end of the day it all comes down to you and how you hustle.

People are programmed to go to college to get "jobs". In my case, I don't want (or ever will want) just want a "job".

A degree does not mean you are smart or intelligent. Really it is meaningless. Getting a degree is not hard it just cost a lot

Correct it shows that you can start and complete something. Also is a small investment to have a couple more important doors potentially open. Its only 4 yrs and you dont have to go to a mega expensive college at all. Get good experience with a degree is not a bad thing.

I think its best to bite the bullet when your young and get it out of the way.

But your correct it does not define intelligence.
