Food: The Unlikely Rise of the French Tacos

Yo you guys are incredible thank you

But an apartment is better more affordable than a hotel?

Umm what is the 19th?

Arrondissments are like mini boroughs

This thread is revealing 2 types of people on here

1) Those that don't travel and aren't cultured

2) Those that are closed minded.

No two restaurants are the same. Noticed I didn't say chain restaurants.

:smh:

Paris is shaped like a spiral and there are different districts or arrondissements. The 19th is on the northeast side. There's a great park there that used to be a slaughter house or something.

I have a time share I can exchange for townhouses, apartments and hotels. I also have access to unsold/unused hotels and shit. We usually stay near Disneyland paris at the Marriott. I can get a 2 story 2 bedroom for about $3-500 a week. Then we spend a week in the city.

I used to travel through Paris for work every month so I ended up getting their version of a metro card. I got the wife one too. Getting around is a breeze using the bus and metro. I rented a car once and we would drive out to the countryside.

Southern Spain is dope too.

That’s because it isn’t.

Been to both France and England on multiple occasions and their food is far better than what we have to offer here, especially in the freshness department.

American palates are clueless when it comes to actual fresh food and high quality ingredients. Everything in the states is so high fructose corn syruped, salt laden, and so drenched in sugar, that when quality produce hits us, we don’t know how to react so we call it “bad.” Why exactly do you think there’s an obesity epidemic here?

Theres no reason a steak at an Outback in Los Angeles tastes exactly like a steak at an Outback in DC. Zero difference between some 3000 miles. And that’s some strange point of pride for some.

Food is supposed to be local to its region, not mass produced for convenience.

Ironically enough, the French taco was started in Lyon, literally the gastronomic capital of the world.
Your worst post ever.

Limited spices in France?

One of my favorite things to do is pick up random spices from different hole in the wall shops and stores not to mention the bigger stores that literally have floors of spices.

Parts of Paris feel like the little Maghreb and parts of the South of France may as well be the Maghreb.

You also can throw in the Cameroonians and Ivorians.

There is a poster on here that is in Paris who has posted some good west African restaurant suggestions as well.

Brah.. got a whole dam balcony..with high dollar cooking equipment....he the truth..brah

gonna assume the 8th must be very expensive?

I stayed there in the suite on the top. Cost me 1800 Euros for 3 days off season but it was worth it. The views were fucking amazing! Oh, and the french food was kinda cool too. :roflmao2:

You have not been to france if you hold this opinion. Hole in the wall joints in france are banging, foh.
Facts! He just ate at the wrong place(s). That's like coming to the states and eating at a chain and saying all American food sucks. Stop eating at the touristy places and go off the beaten path. It helps if you have someone who is from there to be a guide. France has amazing food!

I went to Cuba for a week back in 2019 and the food was good. A few year before I went a lot of people were saying their food was garbage. These people must've ate at a bad or cheap spot.

I think this all depends on where people are eating. There are non chain restaurants that I wouldn't touch ever again. There's a ramen restuarant I went to for a date that's two block away from The Barclays Center. I order appetizer wings and the shit wasn't cooked on the inside. The apologized and gave us another one, the same shit again. The manager apologized and made it on the house to get us a third one but we declined. They were nice enough to give us half off the bill. There are other ramen spots that are better. :sm:

The point is no two restaurants are alike. There are bad food all over.

I agree with this. I’ve been to the UK/France/and Germany.

German food is the better of the 3. I will also take some US food over French.
I lived in Königstein for a while, the food was always good but most of it was from other places. But still it was authentic good from those places, like actual Italian niggas running the Italian restaurants, etc. The only German shit I really had was schnitzels and sausages lol and beer of course

Donner kebabs were my absolute favorite.

Germany has all of the expat Turks so they have those kebabs and the drugs on point.

What's your budget and what does your family like to do?

At least 7-10 days if you can afford it.

For example I've been to the Lourve at least 4 times and have yet to see everything. They keep adding shit too.

I've been to Versailles at least 3 times and there's always more to see, plus the garden is fucking huge.

Gotta do the tower, arc, Notre Dame is still fucked I think. Last time I was there was right after it burned down.

My wife loves the movie Amile' so I took her to all the places in it.

Gotta hit the burlesque show and a few other tourist spots. Got young kids, Disneyland. Either rent a car and fight traffic or take the RER A. It takes about 40 minutes from the center of the city get there.

Probably holla at parisan to get info on saving cash dining and stuff.

Wife loves shopping? Galleries Lafayette has a bottom floor about 3 football fields long with just fucking shoes.

Like Bourbon? You can actually get good bottles cheaper in Paris than the states.

I go to the "la cave" and stock up every time.

overall, yes visit Paris, I recommend August,
yes it's expensive as hell,
yes the food is excellent (those who say it's trash ate at tourist spots... sorry for you)
I advised countless bgol cats through PM about their holiday here and I think they all had a good time

Best time best place how long budget transportation

Would you agree cause so far it's been spot on to me.

if we are out of the pandemic, visit in August, parisian folks are out of the city and everything is more mellow
find a hotel on the West Bank (rive gauche) or look for a place in the 8th or 17th district (arrondissement)
I would advise a week, if you can afford a longer stay, take time to visit the Southern part of France or the Atlantic coast
get a metro card (Navigo) it takes you everywhere by subway, train or bus within Paris and to the surrounding towns

I went to this place called Pramil with my wife and we had an amazing dinner. I want to say it was in the third. Is that place still open and can you suggest any similar places?

Pramil is a good gastronomic selection and affordable all things considered
My favorite gastronomic place is Pilgrim in the 15th district https://www.pilgrimparis.com/en
it will burn your wallet but it is fantastic

I think we spent like 100-125 euros max for dinner including wine so it was definitely a good value. Chef was cool as fuck too. I think at the time we went it was also Michelin recommended.

Pilgrim looks good and looks like it has a star as well. We try to do Michelin recommended restaurants and then one or two nicer dinners at places with at least a star so this is a perfect. That star will make the pain to my credit card hurt less
