Brinks Guard Fires Back At Robbers

A Brink's truck guard was robbed at gunpoint before he fired at the robbers in front of a bank in Sunrise, FL.

The robbery happened outside the Space Coast Credit Union at 7751 W. Oakland Park Blvd. just before 10 a.m., Sunrise Police spokesman Michelle Eddy said.

Surveillance video from the bank shows two robbers stop the guard as he entered the bank pushing bags of money on a cart.

The robbers force the guard to the ground and run off with the money, but the guard, still on the ground, pulls out a handgun and opens fire.

If I shot at someone who was running away after they robbed me I would be in jail. Florida is looking more and more appealing.

According to FBI spokesman Michael Leverock, the robbers fled in a stolen white Honda and drove the car a few blocks away before ditching it and fleeing in a silver Lexus.

The Honda was found with several bullet holes.

Damn, that fat guy can shoot.
[Can guards really open fire like that even after the threat is gone? I mean it's the money they're after, not his life, or obviously they would have taken it easily. I'm not saying he shouldn't necessarily because these are in fact dangerous people, I'm just curious where we draw the line.:confused:/QUOTE]

Guard would get cooked in California. You only fire that glass piece as a last resort.

Robbers fleeing, he is firing after the fact. Probably get 3 years probation in the Golden State. Unless the robbers returned fire.

Robbers fired or returned fire, he walks scott free. But California is kind of backwards on this type shit. You cant legally fire on someone to protect property in Cali without imminent threat of bodily harm. He would need a good lawyer here.

Fat boy was good shot under pressure.

Yes it is self defense. Once you commit armed robbery the law does very little to protect the aggressor.

you stay that close?

I'm right off University and Oakland Park

Lol yea man that bank is right across from the 7/11. I be at the LA Fitness all the time cause don't no bad bitches be in there and a nigga could concentrate strictly on my workout and not bitches

i've discussed this situation with a couple of coworkers [previously, whether or not one can legally open fire after the fact, as they flee. At gun school, we're told that if they're fleeing the scene, you cannot open fire unless they're still firing at you. Not sure what I would have done in that situation. Situation dictates I guess..
