I have always wanted to learn how to fly and my wife just got me a 5 hour flying lesson package with a flight school.

Has anyone ever taken flight lessons and what should I expect?

I am a flight instructor just, sit back enjoy your first couple of flights the instructor is going to do some introductory and basic things with you:cool:

he/she will let you take the controls, and talk you through maneuvers.

Cool your going to love it. I wanted to be a pilot got like 60 flight hours but ran out of money and life took over.

Thanks man!

When you see a "Stall Warning", don't panic, it's just the plane about to take over and help you quickly to the ground. Sit back and enjoy the ride down.

25 hours under my belt.
First time out, nothing much. Instructor/Pilot will walk you through basic controls, dials, indicators, and plane surfaces.

They'll let you handle the controls for awhile once safely in the air as well.

Most likely you'll be going up in a single engine 4 seater Cessna so be ready for a lot of pitching and rolling until the plane gets above 5K feet or so. These planes are very light and gusts and pressure dips affect them more than you would notice in a commerical flight.

Aslo, PAY ATTENTION to your call sign. When you hear air traffic control call your tail number, IMMEDIATELY STOP your conversation so the instructor can get the heading and altitiude information.

If you crash and die, if you have life insurance it will not pay... FYI

That's not entirely correct. :smh:

The standard policy asks if you engage in things like GA piloting, motorcycle riding, skydiving, scuba diving, etc. If you answer no, and go out and strap on a plane, scuba tank, parachute, or bike, this type of policy won't pay if you die while engaged in those activities.

However, you can get a rider attached (higher premiums), or you can purchase an additional policy from aviation specific insurance companies.

...and oh, you will find one you start flying, thats all you seem to think about (with a few exceptions ;)). Everytime a plane passes overhead, you can't help buy look up into the sky with a smile.

i just got a scholarship to the JFK Jr. Flight Academy,,, i'm sure the instructor won't mind if you go on my first test flight with me,,, get at me bra

Okay life agent  Look closely at your standard policy and you will see that it has that listed as an exclusion. And this additional policy will be an expensive term policy and will still not pay if he dies while flying a PRIVATE plane. They will only return the premiums paid into the policy.
Good to see some brothers in the game… We should talk!
Stay up!
