The mere existence of Black people makes many white folks insecure and uncertain about themselves.

So the loss of black life at the hands of a white cop is justified by default.

What happened in Ferguson , at-it's-core, is not a complicated diagnosis. It is about white supremacy and white privilege.

The same white supremacy and white privilege that is inculcated and ingrained into every "white" person from birth.

The same entrenched white supremacy and white privilege that was in the mind of the cop who fired more than eight rounds at unarmed Michael Brown, six bullets hitting Michael and killing him. The cop didn't see Michael as a human being, but as a "public enemy"; something to be eradicated like a rodent. Entrenched white supremacy and white privilege altered this killer cop's psychosis to not-for-an-instant look at Michael Brown as a son, a family's child, possibly the relative of someone in city, state of federal government - NO - all the killer cop saw was "Black". It could of been U.S. attorney general Eric Holder's son, the cop would of still emptied his gun into the unarmed victim; all he saw was a Black menace.

Whites are okay with anything as long as theirs is not affected. They lack empathy for other races. Studies have been carried out on this. I don't know if they lack empathy because they are inherently evil or if its learned. Either way its fucked up. We have to ensure that our cities have a black police presence. Now after all this Ferguson shit, how many black men would want to be a cop amongst all those white cops. I would doubt the lines are long for police applications. These cop jobs, firemen and construction jobs are some of the last jobs these CACs can grab up with little college education and they are desperately trying to keep the brothers out.

IMO, it has less to do with actual support for police...it's more about the opposition of acknowledging the terrorism that communities of color have experienced by police over the years.

It's cognitive dissonance. When you don't want to acknowledge that what Black folks have been complaining about is actually true, you create this villainous image of Black folks in your mind, which justifies heavy handed policing. It's the same reason why people respond to incidents like by saying "well, what about black on black violence", knowing full well that one has nothing to do with the other.

White folks scare very easily and this is a very visible example of that.

Actually more municipalities are requiring that police & firemen have college education, @ least a B.A., but that's NOT the reason CACs become cops, it's ALL about the benefits, most go in knowing not only about the perks, but when they retire most will try to go out on disability, which means 3/4ths pension (it's normally half) if not full, and further, most then become consultants or higher ups in security firms while collecting their pensions, in other words, they're thinking long term!!!
