Fellas we need to break the Main BGOL forum into separate forums

I just want to know what the subcategories are gonna be so that I can properly post in them . I have several on going porn threads, an on going nyc food spots thread( which category will this fall under)... Certain threads where we discuss movies/ series/ post trailers for upcoming movies/series where would those fall under

Start a forum for the trolls to inhabit that allows them to do what they do best with less restrictions that keeps them away from the other forums and also gives any other people interested in interaction with them the option to do so.

Sort of a wild west forum with less restrictions where people can beef or get at each other without fucking up other threads/forums where it's not wanted.

I like the idea of having a separate NSFW forum. I think you want to avoid having too many sub forums to prevent them from being abandoned or only used by a few people for eg. I like the comicbook forum but its the same handful of people who post there. Having a Sports section with sub forums for types of sports is too much micromanaging imo.

You can't see other things on the free forum like music, exclusive xxx, movies because that's restricted unless you pay a donation to get access to that.

I only visit the main forum. It’s like a one stop discussion shop for me. I don’t partake in the music and Hollywood forums like I use too.

I use probably 5% of the total forum and that still may be too generous of a number. So, for me, anything moved out the main forum may not get seen.

However, I understand needing to making change, so anything you must do, I will adjust as necessary.

I echo this sentiment. I actually think having strict borders will make some threads i frequent easier to find despite having to make a extra click or two to get to it.

First of all I'm willing to give you a refund, that has always been my policy, no hard feelings on my end.

I only give members free access to keep the board alive, if a member doesn't pay he has restricted access for 2 months.
After 2 months I give them full access for 6 months. Some people pay during that 2 month limited access, most don't.
Most days are $20 days or nothing at all. You can't exist on that type of money.

If I can set this board up to get Ad Revenue, that will eliminate a lot of stress on my end.
I can then begin to try and grow the board with new members.

I'll still need donation support for about another year, but I'll make it work regardless.

My goal is to go from a board that is losing members to a board that is gaining new members.

I'm tired of begging for money. Everyone wanted to keep the board as is with nudity all over the place.
Knowing I can't monetize the board with that type of setup, as long as they help me fund the board I was cool with it.

The funds have dried up.

You can keep my donation.

I like the idea but you'll have to make the forums very visible to each other. For example I always forget about some of the other forums cause they are what we call below the fold....below what you see when you first come to the page. I think if they're listed one under the other it will be OK but if they're a scroll away......like The Basement you may run into a problem. Especially if we don't have a habit of checking for them.

Like others, 99% of the time I only look at the main forum and even then I rarely look past page one.

Will it be possible to have some kind of personalized dashboard where you can subscribe to various forums or categories?

One example would be for celebrity deaths. I wouldn't check a specific forum just to see if someone died, but I definitely want to know as soon as possible if a notable person passes.

Another example would be for all trending topics. There are many topics that I won't necessarily be interested in like cooking, gossip, etc. but if it's getting a lot of engagement, then I want to see what everyone is saying.

If you plan on opening the forum up even more, I would suggest you lock down all the forums with NSFW, music, movies etc, and password protect those forums for paid OG's.

Agree with these as well. The main OG board link gets 95% of my attention. The Movie forum might get 4% and the remaining 1% for Music and Travel.

In the end, whatever you need to get it going, I’m sure we’ll adjust to.

Not sure what type of SEO techniques you plan to use by hiding the porn aspect but I’m sure once the board changes from being flooded with bitter old head political threads, it will get new life.

All of the XXX threads that are in the main forum will go to a single forum
I don't want to spread things up to much, 3-4 forum and the NSFW forum.

Damn I guess I'm not a Super Poster so my opinion doesn't mean much, but I donate every year but one. Since the early 2000s.

My only complaint is a nigga like Tical can censor someone under false pretenses and there's no due process.

If my meager 20.00 a year aren't valued enough to get an appeal when I laid out an airtight case then I'll ease on down the road when my renewal time comes up.

Again political censorship is my only complaint here and otherwise I support the efforts to maintain the board.

So I took a cursory look at BGOL vs The COLI and Lipstick Alley at 12:55AM EST, since those are the only two other popular Black-oriented message boards I’m aware of with a variety of topics:

So BGOL has around 10% of the engagement of The COLI! I hate to say but I doubt there’s much you can do to turn the tide. If anything, I’d recommend creating a forum that OG BGOL members cannot post in. A big problem on this message board is groupthink and bullying, to the point where any new members get harassed off, especially if they aren’t aware of the pre-existing cliques and personalities on here. Many of the lurkers are afraid to post. The “mods” engage in the groupthink and bullying as well. And you’d have to find a way to attract much younger members. What incentives would any users have to come here when there are other options?

I’ve repeatedly encouraged AUDIO engagement. If niggas wanna talk shit, then really TALK SHIT! But the ones who type the most shit are the first to run from that! But that kind of content would attract people. What I wouldn’t give to shit on some of these Demobots, anti-ADOSers, and other fuck niggas on here!!

My suggestion is to take a good look at what gets posted to determine what sub forums are needed. You probably want to avoid as many dead forums as possible.

In sports, for example, 95% of the posts are NBA or NFL. I don't think any other sport would warrant an entire forum. So maybe NFL, NBA, then all other sports lumped together.

I learned to let sycophants like Big Tex, donjuwan and tical have it cause this is their safe space to feel accepted and never be challenged.

They aren't interested in political discourse, they just want to feel like they won at something.

Get these foreign AI bots/sock puppets their own political area with low view counts, put them in the politics section. They have taken over the porn board. You can limit their impact and eventually they'll give up. They can post their Trump, Kamala, Israel, Ukraine propaganda.

These foreign disinformation agents attracts surveillance from law-enforcement, intelligence services, and political operatives to the board (plus to members). You might get baited into making a statement or comment the next thing you know you're under 24/7 surveillance.

I am looking at another board that keeps them out 9 million to 30,000 ratio.

This thread has 320,000 views, no way 778 people are viewing this thread that many times from July 21, 2024. This means that each member viewed the thread 400 times. If we dumped these foreign disinformation actors off in a politics section, their view count will go down. Some of the threads have millions of views like the one on Joe Biden.

We don't need the heat posting about scumbag politicians. It would be equivalent to talking about child porn, attracting law-enforcement.

I've post a lot of original content that ends up on YouTube or mainstream media.
