You have a point but the problem is "real rappers" cater to ninjas in the struggle. And ninjas in the struggle don't buy unnecessary articles such as . . . lets say um . . . movies and music. One. Before work.
His album is the only album I've bought in about 3 years (NYOIL). I'm busy right now trying to finish some work for the man free (no charge) because I believe in his message and I like his product.
The way to fix the industry is to completely go digital. And create the outlets where the music can be downloaded. CD's are archaic (failing business model).
It's not just the CONSUMERS fault. Technology has changed the playing field as well. Since the coming of the Diamond Rio all the way down toe the Ipod or Archos the tech has advanced and has driven the trend. Who doesn't have an mp3 player nowadays? Even my daughter has one and I only paid 20 bucks for it.
Artist will continue to record. REAL artists will. Those corner rappers who are only in it to get famous they will fond like anyone else that this is art form. Artists have drawn since the dawn of time whether they got paid or not.
Indeed especially on the part about real artist will continue to record.
But if I got you right you do art for a living amongst other things. Part of what you do is put your artwork on clothing items and shit.
Now imagine you can't pay rent because cat is cutting and copying your art and making heat transfer Tees out of your work.........HMMMMMMM
uh anyway..
Seriously.. That's why NYOIL is posting this new mixcd up on various blogs for FREE. Trying to experiment with just giving the music away and finding other ways of developing income.
Bro,............. the money is in advertising.
Just a small tip.
Do your homework on the google model.
Peace.

But we gotta keep hiphop alive Angry. We gotta keep hiphop alive.
Women and Today's Crack Babies Ruined HipHop. When I was really into hiphop the Wack shit would be considered lyrical by today's standards. I.E> Tracy Lee the Theme. That was the party shit, now you have wack young bols like Soulja Boy. Women only care about dancing and young kids only care about cooning.
^^ without question pragmatic thinking in a digital world that is moving forward at light speed is suicide
The only problem that I am stuck at ... is the fact that if an artist isn't showing numbers in traditional outlets (Soundscan, BDS, Video spins) which are all things that either require money to aquire or means your making verifiable sales it is difficult to get on tour.
It is difficult to get shows for that matter. These promoters are just like fans in fact worse because they got money on the line when they bring an act into town.
If they don't think the act has a marquee name enough to pack em in they won't book em.
so the artist is shit outta luck. Or he has to sign with a major label that can afford to dump money into his marketing. Make him a household name.
But to get on a major he has to have a sellable product. And if he aint been selling with what he been making (good music) he better crank that solja boy harder then a muffagga.. LOL
Lastly I have no feelings for Hip-Hop Since the mid 90s.
I am a Reggae fan and early Dance hall fan. Dance hall has gone the way of Hip-Hop. 85% of Dance hall from the mid 90s on up is crap.
Tired of Gun talk, Tired of Money talk, Tired of woman talk.
Get some content in your music, get some real feeling in your music, make a stand in your music about the times and people will support again.

First off, the game got fucked when the industry told the fans, we're not selling singles anymore. You have to buy the album. Remember when you go to the record store and buy a song you liked for $5. You'd probably get a new song or a remix on the b-side. That promotion technique worked.
Nowadays if artists don't do big numbers there first week, they may as well start work on their next album. Some artists get no promotion. What happened to the remixes? The only remixes I hear now are from DJ Khaled with the same muthafuckas collaborating. Yo, that shit is wack.
I can't believe some artists spend a year of their life putting an album out, just to drop one single and be done with it. Imagine if you are a rocafella artist. Besides Jay, you might drop an album every 3 or 4 years. Fuck that~I'm making sure my shit gets airplay. Even if I gotta trick people into buying my shit. I'd come with videos, remixes, collabs, televised concerts, what da fuc ever! You gotta know how to do more than just spit.
Fam.. i think you're convieniently using poverty to supposed poor folks advantage.. lol
Fact is cats spend the money they would spend on a CD on weed every day times 4
Fact is we talking about people with computer access and Ipod access that are downloading shit for free instead of going out and buying the music. Cats that have these sorts of thing should have the disposable income to at least purchase a dudes single for 99cents..
come on fam.
Most human beings don't buy what they need the buy what they want .. that's why cats credit is so screwed now..![]()
and i say at all cost because it can help us in many ways.. it always has since its creation. if this art dies (in my opinion) whats next will not be harder or better, it'll be the end of what was.
Should I start buying porn while I'm at it?
How many albums in the past five years would YOU have bought if downloading wasnt an option? I can count the number for me on one hand.
