Through his first seven years of his NFL career, Pro Bowl Julio Jones has been a cornerstone part of the Atlanta Falcons offense as one of the top players in the league.

There have been no questions concerning his standing with the franchise given his elite level of production and dependability up to this point in his career. However, Jones has made the curious move of making his Twitter account private and has unfollowed all of his Falcons’ teammates.

It has immediately brought forth questions regarding his future with the franchise with a trade being a reasonable assumption given his actions on social media. There has yet to be any chatter concerning any trade talk surrounding Jones being possibly on the move.

The 29-year-old is currently in the third year of his five-year, $71.2 million deal that has roughly $39.2 million remaining on the deal. Jones is coming off another highly productive campaign where he finished with on 88 receptions for 1,444 receiving yards, which marked the fifth time in his career that he has posted at least 1,000 receiving yards. He had also joined Roddy White (six) as the only players in team history to have at least five seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.

Jones has also surpassed Terance Mathis for second-most career receptions (573) in Falcons history only trailing White for the all-time team mark (808). All of this would make a trade quite puzzling given that he in the prime of his career and still has several highly productive seasons ahead of him.

If anything, what this could simply be is that he is shutting off social media to focus more directly on preparing himself for the upcoming season. With the draft just a few days away, there could be more clarity on this front if there is anything to Jones’ actions over social media.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will not report to camp Thursday because he wants his contract reworked, league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

The Falcons are aware of Jones' plans and hope he changes his mind, per sources.

Jones could be fined up to $40,000 for each day he misses. The Falcons' first practice is Friday.

The team has previously said that it will not rework his deal.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank told The Athletic that he does not plan to get involved in any negotiations over Jones' contract at this time.

"I have full faith in TD (general manager Thomas Dimitroff) and DQ (head coach Dan Quinn) to handle this in the best manner that is feasible for us. We love Julio, and I have said our wishes are that he be a Falcon for life. As always, I am available to our staff as needed and at appropriate times," he said.

Jones signed a five-year, $71 million contract in 2015 that included a $12 million signing bonus and $47 million guaranteed. His base salary this season is $10.5 million.

Julio is a very smart businessman who is about his money.

He owns a Kia dealership in Alabama and is developing a major mixed use real estate project in Gwinnett County.

He doesn't speak much to the media like Kawhi so a lot of people assume he is dumb, or media members portray him that way cause they can't get the big interview or sound bite out of him.

The brother knows his worth to the team. Falcons will cave in and...

"PAY THAT MAN HIS MONEY"

No trade

All posturing for business
He should be paid for sure The Falcons can NOT start renegotiating like this
They will be held hostage every Year

Can someone help me out here?
If his salary is 10.5 million this year, does that include his bonus? Also how long is that 47 million bonus going to be paid out?

Bonus has already been paid. He has 3 years left and non guarantee. I think his average is maybe 6th best wr maybe less. He wants to be top

Got it.
He's great and puts up huge numbers, but he is terribly inconsistent sometimes.
Especially on fantasy football.
30 points one week, then 2 the following week :smh:

If you are 27 or older, outside of a being a franchise qb, you are not going to get a big deal anymore.

Those NBA deals are messing with players' heads.

I would just franchise tag him for 2 more years.

They need guaranteed contracts next cba to avoid this. Then they will be binding contracts. Now, the contract only binds the player and team can terminate as they see fit. That will end all of this renegotiate and take a pay cut shit. He deserves a new contract based on the current fucked up system.
