The way Congress designed DOJ is to have some independence. If it looks like they can't act independently without being fired by President than they could become a another branch of government which no future President wants. They could be appointed by the President, have a set term like the Supreme Court.

I don't think members of the GOP knew, certainly not to this extent, the level of influence and complicity Trump and Co. has/had with Russia and other foreign partners.


Thus they weren't really swayed to get rid of people immediately.

I think many of them, now, are like damn...WTF? I had no idea he was in bed that deep...

Trust...People like Paul Ryan aren't stepping down just because...

And like you said trying to do something about it now is a lot messier than before.

I hate Pence but he has done his best to stay clear of Trump's shit the best he can. At this point, the media has made multiple reports of things that happened with Russians. Pence was not included in any meetings or misinformation. The only time he was part of some issue was with Flynn. Trump and Flynn told Pence that Flynn never called any Russian. Pence went on tv and repeated what he was told. Once the FBI told Pence that Flynn lied, Pence told Trump to fire Flynn. Trump refused and only later fired him because the media found out it was a lie. Who would leak that info???? Pence did. After that, he stopped making press appearances to defend anything Trump does. Go back and check. After all these White House people have been fired or resigned you won't see one interview of Pence defending it. There are no interviews of him defending tweets after the Flynn issue. He walled himself off from the entire administration. He is waiting to be president.

Always remember Ford was Nixon's vp but was able to easily claim he knew nothing of what Nixon was doing so he could become President and later pardon Nixon days later.

I think way more members of GOP know than we think. For instance, the money trail leading to the NRA is an indicator of just how deep this is.

I think we'll see (I've posted articles on this) an elaborate scheme of washed Russian money working its way into GOP coffers.

They know Trump is corrupt. Everyone did. They just didn't expect him to win. All the GOP power brokers are on the record saying how corrupt he was during the GOP primaries.

They'll feign shock that someone was caught gambling in the casino though..at least the ones who weren't caught.

This is a false narrative. Pence was one of the 1st to know that Flynn was compromised. Dems in Congress wrote him about this issue and posted this correspondence to be added to the public record. The idea that Pence didn't know about Flynn is so clearly false that it's an indictment of how poorly the MSM is covering this.

Pence quietness over this is him being smart. He was the FIRST one who lawyered up and he's just trying to keep himself away from as much as possible to avoid getting washed up in it. He was already under investigation for campaign finance fraud. He's certainly being investigated by Mueller but he's an unimportant, soft target. he doesn't have the history with Trump that guys like Cohen, Manafort, and Gates have. Pence will just be collateral damage.

This is false. Pence ran the transition. Pence knew about Flynn and he was brought on by Manafort. In fact Manafort faked plane trouble to get Trump to stay in Indiana long enough to meet with Pence and talk him in to taking him on as VP. When he was on TV and said it was the first he has learned about Flynn, he lied. I doubt Manafort would go through all that trouble to place someone who wasn't dirty or pro-Russia. Pence is not clean.

If there is something to tie to Pence, we will see but for now nothing has been revealed at this point. He is playing it as smart as he can do right now.

This makes a lot of sense. You absolutely have to "Vet" someone like the potential VP to see where their loyalties are. Equally critical, you have to make sure they have dirt and with that can be controlled.

How stupid can you be to pick a VP that's not down and doesn't have dirt that you can exploit and use to keep them in line?

Oh. I've posted this already. It's not some secret. Congressman Cummings publicly stated that Pence was either lying or wildly incompetent because he personally warned Pence's office about Flynn. He claimed he knew NOTHING about Pence, but he got a direct warning from Congress.

I never agreed with James Comey decision to go after Clinton during the election for her email, it was fully disclosed to the voters. She had gone through various primaries and it became a mute issue at that point. However, this was not disclosed to voters and could have changed the election what President Trump did with these payoffs. This is clearly within their right to review and prosecute if necessary.

We can grant a politician a pardon for their crimes committed, if it is disclosed. This was something James Comey never understood.

First of all, a non disclosure agreement is worthless to a celebrity to cover up a crime. Stormy Daniels and the other girl can get millions of dollars to tell her story. His lawyer should have never done anything to silence her. The amount of money somebody else will pay to hear their story is just too great.

he didn't push it through - the Supreme Court is allowing it while the different courts and SCOTUS are still going through the challenges... if the Court agrees with Trump we'll find out in June

the executive branch has the purview to make such policy- under the constitution
SCOTUS upheld that

2nd:
The fight since then has been does Trump's policy comply with the constitution
so far every federal appellate court has said no - SCOTUS will rule on it by June

Look at how Xi Ping easily walked him into a trap over trade policy and S.China Sea disputes

Shit last 2 weeks he told them on TV what his next trap was and Trump still walked right into it on Air Force One

Trump now has no way of winning the Daniels lawsuit... PLUS
in the process threw the door wide open for a criminal campaign finance investigation- lead by the FBI - that a month ago?
Would have stayed buried in the FEC for another year or 2

I'll be very surprised if DoJ and the Pentagon don't have "Trump protocols" in place waiting to be triggered

He was VP after "Nixon's VP" Agnew resigned, so yeah, he didn't know anything. And the pardon was basically a plea bargain.....resign and go sit the fuck down and we'll spare the country and your legacy the burden of putting you on trial.
 
How do you still have anything to collect at this point? Tapes, computers, files should have been burned to a crisp the day after the election. Republicans are the dumbest crooks.
