That's like telling a 4 year old to take the SAT test. Some people don't read like you and I, so you have to give it to them in a different way.
Kids have fables and other stories to get the point across. The Bible has stories and parables to get the point across. Sometimes you have to give it to someone in another way for them to get it. So what if the letter is fake, but if it helps 2 people to see what is happening in the world and changes them for the better, then that's 2 more people that has enlightenment from the letter.
There's no "enlightenment" in this letter. It just passes the historical and sociological buck (not to mention the personal responsibilty) to a totally fictional character who doesn't have even a remote basis in fact. The willful transmission of ignorance shouldn't be considered "enlightening."

It could be a letter written in someone's perception or an analogy of the effects of slavery, but it still won't be off at all as with other perceptions and actions. First off, you should know your history... if anything because it is your history not theirs.
Second, not a conversation of God and won't entertain the analogy. haven't been proven it even exist and defeatist to believe you don't have the power to promote change in at least one life for the better.
