Out of idea ass bitchmade crackas . Now Transformers has some weird DMX revision. I heard some TV doing this too. I can’t stand these people!!! Let’s go Warriors!!!

Naw that been happening. I talked about it years ago too. This is Jay Z and his influence. He has many of his Roc Nation artists pumping their songs in movies and tv commercials.

If you pay attention you will be shocked.

Even the instrumentals and the original samples of popular rap songs are being used in advertising.

We are in 2023. The “classic music” is now 1990s rap!!!

Agreed, they did it in the John Wick trailer....

That NAS track is nice for those shoot ‘em up bang bang movies.

Can’t wait for them to discover DJ’s that can mix up the track to fit the action scenes.

hmmm-thinking.gif

Carry on…..

No, it's about middle aged white men growing up surrounded by hip hop, so of course it's going to be in the movies.

It's like you dudes don't see who the fuck are going to rap concerts

Jay-Z and Jordan Peele

Trust me there are black people involved as well. It isn't all culture vultures doing this. Of course white people make most of the money but it is black exes pushing this specific thing. Trust me I know the agencies.

I've heard I got "five on it " slowed down at least in two other movie trailers that wasn't a Jordan Peele movie and it is so unoriginal that's why Jordan Peele has to keep going and keep presenting his idea's first cause what they don't get today maybe they'll get tomorrow....or steal it.

That last joint, yeah went right over my head....

Taking upbeat hip hop and slowing it and altering the speed to create a creepy and/or dramatic backdrop to a scene or film. Jordon Peele popularized it and now the whites are doing what they do best.. copying it.
You missed my point I was trying to make this didn't start with Jordan Peele at all. I can think of many movies that have taken popular songs and slowed them down. Do you need a list?

1. Donnie Darko - "Mad World" originally by Tears for Fears

2. Social Network - "Creep" originally by Radiohead
3. Suicide Squad - "I Started a Joke" originally by The Bee Gees
4. Birdman - "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley

5. Avengers Age of Ultron - "I've Got No Strings" originally by Dickie Jones
6. The Great Gatsby - "Happy Together" originally by The Turtles
7. 50 Shades of Grey - "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce

8. Wrath of the Titian - "Sweet Dreams (Are Mayde of This)" originally by The Eurythmics
9. Quantumania - "Yellow Brick" Road original by Elton John
10. Deadpool 2 - "Take on Me" originally by A-Ha.

None of these examples are similar to what Peele did with 5 on it. The Crazy in Love is close but even that is kept in context of the original song and used in genre appropriate fashion.

Taking a song and reimagining it is nothing new. /thread.
Jordan Peele and them picked a song he liked.
It has been going on for years and years before him.
I showed you proof blackman. Respect yourself.

I personally wouldn't be mad that Hip Hop or Black music is getting repped in this big hit movies no matter how they use it, as long as original owner gets credit and money. ....we ain't all about shooting and killing. Hip Hop is art in its realest form.

We arent talking about a simple "reimagining". OP is referencing a specific take and technic using a specific genre, slowing and REPURPOSING it for dramatic effect. Its distinctly different from what you posted.

You and OP are just illogical.
