Damn I forgot all about Anderson missing the 4 free throws. I knew he missed the first two. Then Nick didn't take the delay of game. If someone had fucked up that bad today they would be on suicide watch due to social media.

still have my autographed Penny jersey...

i might sell it on ebay...not sure...:rolleyes2:

Didn't Shaq say Phil Jackson wanted him to put on weight?

I don't think he ever said Phil. Phil used to criticize his weight.

I know he used to use the excuse he did it so he could take the pounding he got. But you can tell he didn't get it with a trainer and it wasn't lean weight where he could keep his agility and mobility.

I died laughing when Charles Barkley was talking about the Orlando Sentinel poll that said 85% of their readers thought Shaq wasn't worth th e money.

"I read in an Orlando poll that 85% of people don't want to pay Shaq that means y'all got 85% stupid idiots down there"

That extra weight fucks you up when you get older. All that jumping and running you do is hard on your knees. Just like miles cause your tires to go bald. The wheels came off fast with Shaq. Luckily he was able to get a ring in Miami with the help of DWade before they totally fell off. That's why I never though the Lakers would have been as dominant as people think if Shaq stayed, because he wasn't dedicated enough when he was younger.

Yeah. That poll was fucked up. Sometimes us fans be feelin ourselves too much. Shaq was direct in saying that shit had him on some ol "oh it's like THAT huh?" Attitude towards orlando/fans

No he wasn't. He was more toned than he was in his later years but you have never seen him cut. Alonzo Morning or David Robinson were cut. The pic in the OP is from his second year in the league and he's nowhere near cut.

It's especially bad for a big man... funny how people were saying that KG needed to put on a lot of weight.

I just don't understand fans sometimes, they said he wasn't worth the money and then turn around and get mad when he left.... :smh:

The documentary was good,I'm looking forward to the one for my hometown next month

If anyone got the one with the Bills and the 85 Bears I would really appreciate it.

He came into the season with the lakers around 340 or so and would play his way down to 325. Shaq was mad overweight towards the tail end of his laker days.

Kevin ding, Lakers writer, said the training staff guessed he was at 400 at one point nearbthe end... He was refusing to be weighed after officially being 375 :smh:

Those lbs caught up to his ass in the end.

Meaning, he was already one of the biggests player ever. All anybody talked about was how he was dishing out a beating to other players. Nobody ever told him to put on weight because he was taking a beating.

I never said anything about the taking a beating part. All I said was I thought Phil told him to put on weight.

Trimmed Down, O'Neal Is Still Huge in Miami
Tuesday, November 9, 2004; Page D01

Over one tumultuous, pack-up-and-leave summer, Shaquille O'Neal stunningly switched teams, coasts and, gradually, pants size. The NBA's most indomitable force of the past decade -- all 7 feet 1, 325 pounds of him -- sat down for an extended interview last week and spoke of those changes with The Post's Mike Wise and Michael Wilbon.

From Kobe Bryant to Dwyane Wade, from Phil Jackson to Pat Riley, O'Neal talked bluntly about his Los Angeles Lakers' past, his future with the Miami Heat, his girth and the enduring basketball legacy he hopes to leave.

Your weight became a daily drama in Los Angeles. Why did you wait until now to drop 30-40 pounds?

"I know people don't believe this, but weight has never been a problem. What you've got to understand is, when I got to L.A., they started tackling me and fighting me. So I got with [renowned Thai-Bo trainer] Billy Blanks and we lifted weights, because I wanted to get big and strong. I've always had 14- to 15-percent body fat, even when I had toe surgery and I came back at 365.

"So that's all I did was lift and get big. Instead of somebody being a man and coming to me and saying, 'We want you to lose weight,' no one ever did that. Phil [Jackson] told me to get big, get strong."

Did you feel you were too heavy?

"Look, 355-365 is probably a number too big and too heavy to play basketball, I admit that. So when I met with Pat [Riley], I asked him a question: 'What do you want me to weigh when I come in?'

" 'How much do you weigh now?' he said.

"I said, '358, 357.' He said, 'I want you to be a young Shaq at 325.' And I told him, 'Okay.'

"I've always been the type of player when the coach tells me do something, I do it. I may argue and fight and tussle with you, but I do it. I got it done."

Even for someone over 300 pounds, isn't 40 pounds a lot to drop in one summer?

"Muscle weighs more than fat, so it wasn't tough at all. I didn't touch a weight. I did the treadmill for an hour and a half, twice a day. I woke up at 8, worked out from 9:30 to 12, came back and did the daddy and the husband thing. I put the kids to bed about 10 o'clock and went back out about 11 and did the same thing. Two-a-days, every day."

What really went wrong with the Lakers?

"The Lakers were like, 'You get Gary [Payton] and Karl [Malone], we'll give you everything you want.' I got Gary and Karl to take less money. When [the contract extension] didn't happen for a couple of months, I knew it wasn't coming. I'm not new to this game. I'd been through it before in Orlando. After the season, I go downstairs to get some cereal with the kids. It's like 8 a.m. and the chef wasn't up yet. I'm watching TV and see this report that Phil is out.

90s ball was the shit. Not even today's shit could match it
Look at those Penny clips, and see how current and polished his game looks still today, 20+ years later. You cant watch late 60's footage in the 90's and still feel like those players games were s current to that period as Penny's is to this one.

Truly would have been an all-time great man... when he was on his game, he was unfuckwithable....even Jordan couldn't do shit Penny when he was on it.... that was a perfect PG..

Shit was pretty damn good..best one I've seen in a while..also I recognized they should've won it againts Houston.. if they won game 1 they had a chance of taking it..the rockets saw that they could beat them after the 2nd half of game 1..also the Nick Anderson free throw situation was kinda sad..he didn't even want to shoot free throws anymore..damn...

Yeah man he was fucked in the head after those missed free throws, he never recovered, sad shit! :smh:
