Elijah Cummings is dead at 68

Cummings was born on January 18, 1951, in Baltimore, the son of Ruth Elma (née Cochran) and Robert Cummings.[2] His parents were sharecroppers.[3] He was the third child of seven. When he was 11 years old, Cummings and some friends worked to integrate a segregated swimming pool in South Baltimore.[4]
Cummings graduated with honors from the Baltimore City College high school in 1969.[5][6] He then attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.,[6] where he served in the student government as sophomore class president, student government treasurer and later student government president. He became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society[7] and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.[6][8]
Cummings graduated from law school at the University of Maryland School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1976, and was admitted to the Maryland State Bar Association later that year.[9] He practiced law for 19 years before first being elected to the House in the 1996 elections.[10]
Cummings received 12 honorary doctoral degrees from universities across the United States, most recently an honorary doctorate of public service from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2017.[11][12]
For 14 years, Cummings served in the Maryland House of Delegates. His predecessor, Lena King Lee, raised funds and campaigned for him; years later, Cummings credited her with launching his political career.[13][14] In the Maryland General Assembly, he served as Chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland and was the first African American in Maryland history to be named Speaker Pro Tempore,[15] the second highest position in the House of Delegates.
Cummings also served on several boards and commissions, both in and out of Baltimore. Those include SEED Schools of Maryland Board of Directors and the University of Maryland Law School Board of Advisors.[16] He served on numerous Maryland boards and commissions including the Board of Visitors to the United States Naval Academy and the Elijah Cummings Youth Program in Israel. He was an honorary member of the Baltimore Zoo Board of Trustees.[17]
In addition to his speaking engagements, he wrote a biweekly column for the Baltimore Afro-American newspaper.[18]

They got nervous about him talking about children and mass incarceration at his level; resulting in them taking executive action. I can talk like that on BGOL, but you can't at his level. Many of them panic when I come near them because they know it will result in 'health' complications or worse. We all know mass incarceration is ethnic cleansing/genocide.
They did MLK the same way, I think he was trying to link the wars of Vietnam with a domestic agenda targeting us. He knew they were using Civil Rights and those championing it to mask their diabolical agenda of mass incarceration and economic deprivation. Welfare reform and the Crime Bill were passed at the same time.
After Haiti gained its independence from France in 1804 after a slave rebellion, the pro-slavery Southern US worried that would influence slaves in the US, which therefore refused to recognize Haiti's independence until 1862. President Andrew Johnson suggested annexing the island to secure influence over Europe in the Caribbean.[3] The US government never followed through but posted active military on the island.
This is not the first time the U.S. worried about the activity of another country and its affect on us.

U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings said Friday that he scared away an intruder who broke into his Baltimore home last weekend by confronting and yelling at the man.
President Donald Trump alluded to the incident with a new tweet Friday morning: “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!”
“An individual attempted to gain entry into my residence at approximately 3:40 AM on Saturday, July 27," the statement said. "I was notified of the intrusion by my security system, and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house. I thank the Baltimore Police Department for their response and ask that all further inquiries be directed to them.”
The White House offered no elaboration on Trump’s “Too bad!” tweet. In Twitter replies, supporters of Cummings assumed the president was being satirical, and criticized Trump for appearing to make light of a crime.
Later, when asked about his tweet, Trump told reporters at the White House “The tweet itself was just, really, a repeat of what I heard over the news. I know his house was robbed, and I thought that was too bad. That was really just — that was really not meant as a wise-guy tweet. I mean, his house was robbed and it came over the news at a certain moment last night. And I had just mentioned it.”
In addition to drawing the president’s ire for his criticism’s of how federal immigration authorities treat detainees, particularly children, Cummings chairs the House oversight and reform committee that recently subpoenaed private communications records from White House officials, including Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
State property records list the rowhouse as owned by the congressman and his wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party. She did not respond to messages seeking comment.
A police report says Cummings and his wife were woken up at 3:40 a.m. July 27 by a motion-detecting security alert system at their home in the 2000 block of W. Madison Ave. A man had come in through an unlocked, exterior door that leads to an entryway, then got through a second, locked door to get further inside the building. Cummings and and his wife live on the first and second floor of the house, and there’s an apartment on the third floor, the report said.
Cummings “confronted the suspect and yelled,” the report said. His wife came downstairs to find the suspect leaving with a black bicycle, and she took pictures of the suspect with her cellphone, the report said. The suspect fled on the bike.

Not trying to cause a rift but pointing out that Elijah was a politician and a good part of his job is to serve the community and take advice/criticism from others on how to serve the people with that said during the last days it's kinda proven he put blacks on the backburner and regardless about the thoughts and prayers everyone is having now over his death and still deserves criticism since his job is based on a good part of that.
Politicians get criticized, can bypass that even in death. If you don't wanna be criticized do something that doesn't involve leading or managing people.
