The best part of EA Play? Janina Gavankar

Please let her host everything next year

Some people know how to make entrances. Some people just walk out and fumble through their presentations. And then there’s Janina Gavankar, who walked onto the EA Play stage with a full contingent of Stormtroopers and proceeded to show everyone how it’s done.

Gavankar plays Inferno Squad Commander Iden Versio in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and, not only is that the most Star Wars name one could possibly imagine, she’s obviously having a blast in the role. And the world noticed.

It goes on like that for a long time. The newsroom at Polygon was also raving about her performance. Gavankar has a long history in Hollywood, from The League to True Blood and Sleepy Hollow, and even runs a website that ... well, we’re not sure what it does. There’s a lot going on there.

Why was the presentation so good? Gavankar provided some really good evidence that these shows need to de-emphasize the “influencers” who are paid to be enthusiastic about the games on streams and focus on the actors and developers who seem honestly enthusiastic about the game and its community.

Gavankar owned that stage, and presented the game with gusto and confidence. Everyone else at the show, save for maybe Josef Fares’ spirited announcement of A Way Out, paled in comparison.

Gavanker was a great break from the flow of YouTubers, slick corporate dudes and developers who seemed very uncomfortable on the stage. EA has found gold in Gavankar, and we can only hope she hosts everything possible next year.

if the Scorpio is more than 399 it will be dead on arrival. They should have the price low as they can make it.

Is that really what it's going to be called..?

im sure they gotta name for it. scorpio wont be it. its the same as the ps4 pro. they was calling it neo until they officially announced it and called it pro. i hope people dont get their hopes up of it coming out at 400. considering the money spent on developing it im sure the production costs on it wont allow it to go any lower than 500. if they sell it cheaper than that i'll be shocked. microsoft and sony wont allow what happened last generation happen again when developing a new system. thats why that generation lasted so long.

only a few more hours til the microsoft conference. i hope we finally get a release date for cuphead. and hellbound for ps4 needs some new footage released.

I want that Cuphead. I powered up the emulator the other day and played some Gunstar Heroes to help with the detox shakes

If there was ever a game that warranted a black lead character. I mean, damn. It's no diversity in games.

You what dude...they'll say there aren't a lot of black leads because black people aren't a large segment of the population...but there are a shit ton of black people in jail...what's the excuse here?

its a shame we been waiting i think 4 years now for cuphead. that game is finna become vaporware if it dont come out this year. just like the infamous duke nukem forever lol

to be "unbiased" imma watch microsoft's and sony's conferences on their game systems. the rest i will catch on youtube once the live presentation is over.

MS should do something with Conker. They haven't done anything with him since using him in Project Spark.

EA needs to give up on Live. 2k owns them in terms of developing football and basketball.
