Dwight Howard Intervention/Interview with Kenny Smith & Barkley

He's a man child and his style of basketball is becoming extinct.

However, the Warriors would be the perfect fit for this guy. All you have to do is man the middle, get defensive boards, and defend the rim. No PNRs, you'll get 10 touches a game from easy passes from your guards. Double double easy.

But it seems like he still wants to be a part of the offense. Sorry dude.

Things always swing. If they eliminate offensive 3 seconds and goaltending calls, things put into the game to limit the effectiveness of big men, things can swing right back.

Now that shit has swung so much to small ball, let the big men eat too.

Not bad...
Segments like this is why they have the best NBA coverage by light years.
Dwight gets a bad rap to some extent
DOP and Finals yet he gets the rap that he doesn't care.
I remember one year DWade tried to dunk in him and DH almost put him in the hospital.
Played injured with the Lakers however , as usual, anybody that plays with Kobe take a reputation hit.
Harden is just a shot jacker that thinks passing is illegal

Agree, but can you foresee a shift away from small ball in the immediate future? I don't.

PPGs are up, attendance and world wide popularity as well. Why would the league go backwards in that regard?

The next trend in my opinion is the position-less forward who can defend 1-5, aka the Kahwai and Draymonds. Thats why Brandon Ingram going #1 overall because Simmons is another Jabari Parker in the making.

That was a good ass segment

Yep I been defending him with those points for years

I recently quit but those things still remain true

(Teams where he could be that defensive plug...quick thoughts, didn't think deep into this)

Warriors
Spurs
Cavs
Bulls
Boston

Just fine right?

Everyone just forgot Orlando cuz of his year with the lakers where he was hurt all season and playing with ball hog James Harden

This why I never understood the problems folks had with dude.

Well he admitted it

Basically he is always smiling so nobody takes him serious and if he isn't smiling then something must be wrong

Part of it is his fault he isn't mentally tough he will check out on you when it gets rough, but shit you can say that about other players in parts of their careers.

He admitted to that as well tho in so many words

Yeah. I've seen him get himself tossed intentionally just got get out of a game because it was getting out of hand and he didn't want to be on the court for the ass whoopin.

Seems like he has done it a few times in the regular season and playoffs

Even if he doesn't get tossed you can tell he is trying to

I agree with some of what you said about Howard, a lot of the criticism is unwarranted but dude needs to realize he's not the dominant player he once was.

As far as Harden, he's a scorer first but I've watched enough Rockets games to say he's not a ball hog. Dude was 6th in assists for the entire league and that's saying a lot when you look at the Rockets roster as a whole.

I've said this in other threads, the Rockets have a poorly constructed roster for the type of system they're trying to run. They rely too heavily on Harden to make plays because he's the only playmaker. Yall got to stop listening to media cats like Barkley who want criticize Harden's offense without looking at the bigger picture. Who does Harden have confidence in that he can pass the ball to and they'll score easily for the Rockets? With that said, he still was almost in the top 5 for assist leaders, let that sink in.

Now if you want to criticize his defense, you'll get no argument from me.

Didn't his last game in LA end like that? getting tossed in the playoffs?

Yeah. I've seen him try that shit a couple of years ago. I was like "refs.. don't bail that nigga out.. make his out stay out there!". I aint never seen a nigga disappointed by the ref not giving him a flagrant and keeping him out on the floor

nigga was damn near yelling at the ref "that's a flagrant 2!"

Just add Chuck and Kenny to the list of players who tried to help him.

This dude has been mentored by
Ewing in Orl, Hakeem in Hou
Refused Kareem's help in LA

Played against Shaq, Yao and Duncan in their Prime.

Now after 12 years in the league he having an "intervention".

If this dude ain't got it by now he never will.

Just keep getting those checks young fella.

Hell he could not even get a decent pass in Houston:lol:

That's pretty much where I am at this point.
12 years.......TWELVE.
If the light switch hasn't come on by now, it probably never will.

It's an intervention meaning stop playing with ball hogs that skate on the blame and don't get you the ball

Get out of Houston
That's all.
We got no idea if he has developed because his last 2 stops he played with ball dominant guards who were allergic to throwing it in the post.

I've seen Howard put up 40 and 15 for a series damn near.
I've seen this nigga go to the nba finals with jammer Nelson as his pg. .

He's been to the nba finals on a team where he was that guy. ..

He has not been up to par but we not gonna play him like he wasn't perennial dpoy 1st team all nba and actual winner while being the man on a team
.the shit hasn't worked with other ppl along with him just being hurt

Dude just anchored the rockets to the conference finals last year

And damn near scored every time the rockets decided to get him the ball this year in round 1

I just knew they weren't going to make sure to get him the ball cause lol analytics

I actually don't believe it's becoming extinct. A few teams play without a 5, but most still do. Howards issue is he got hurt, and never developed many skills that didn't rely on his athleticism. Now he doesn't have that edge and it's showing. Factor in he plays with a ball hog and is easy to see what it looks like he's fallen all the way off. But he's still a good rebounder and defender. Can get east buckets and garbage points and I myself would take him in Chicago for the right price.
