I beg to differ. Most of the posts point to that fact that the woman is not married, and has never been. Is it really about finances or is it about giving birth without a ring? Or is it the number of children involved? Most women that will have 1 child out of wedlock will have 3, 5 or 10 children out of wedlock. How many is too many, and why the hypocrisy when the child is well-financed? If this is a moral issue, or an issue affecting the "black community", shouldn't we all be making an honest effort to curb out-of-wedlock childbirth? Or is it ok for rich people to do as they please while poor people should just be sterilized and put out of their misery?

Well, historically, single motherhood has always been problematic because the community would have to shoulder the responsibility of raising the child. Religious leaders simply took their cues from social circumstances. The stigma of having children out of wedlock has never been as strong with the wealthy. Having said that, I think that (though some cats on this board express it rather ignorantly) the Anti-Single Moms collective are lamenting what they see as the perpetuation of poverty and social ills endemic to households with only one parent.

I don't ever remember Dwight Howard preaching how others should live their lifestyle. He did say he was religious, and he did say he would help introduce God to some players. However, nothing he has said or done has truly deviated from his beliefs, except for the premarital sex thing.

However, in this day and age, things are just different. Also, he was 18 when he was coming into the league when he said it, and hasn't really said anything since then. It could be more of his parents talking through him than him saying these things. He's 22 now, and it really doesn't make him less of a Christian that he has a child. He never preached or judged anyone. He's not outlandish and whoring about, and seems to be a decent person, who's still growing.

It takes an incredible amount of willpower to adhere to the stricter Christian beliefs - the best part about the whole thing is that God KNOWS this, hence why it is not difficult to repent for anything you do - as long as you are sincere.

Only Christian fundamentalists are extremely strict, but they're also a racist hypocritical bunch to begin with.
