The Benefits of Lemon Water

Lemon water is truly beneficial in any beauty care regimen. Lemon and water both have clarifying actions in your body. Both lemon and water help to flush out toxins in your system. Although lemons are thought to be acidic, they are in fact very alkalizing to the body.

Most of the foods we eat are acidic and too much acid can bring about a barrage of health problems. Your body actually prefers to be alkaline. Instead we bombard our systems with too many acidic foods and drinks, which have long lasting detrimental effects on our bodies. Lemons stimulate and aid elimination in the digestive system. They also help purify the liver by eliminating toxins and waste products.

Lemons are not just for lemonade anymore. They are a small yellow fruit with powerful healing properties.

# Lemon water helps clean the toxins out of our bodies. Your skin can't look healthy if your body is holding onto toxins! When you get rid of toxic waste in your system, your skin will show it first! Your skin will be the first thing YOU notice cause it looks clear and not sallow and full of acne. However, that's not all the benefits that lemons provide for us! (Another healthy way to get rid of toxins that hold onto your fat and cause visceral fat, is by doing a health cleanse!)

# Lemon can help relieve many digestion problems when mixed with hot water. These include nausea, heartburn, constipation and parasites. It is even known to help relieve hiccups when consumed as a juice. Lemon juice acts as a tonic to the liver and helps us digest our food by helping the liver produce more bile. It also helps cut down on the amount of phlegm produced by our body. It is also thought to help dissolve gallstones.

# Because of its high Vitamin C content, it is thought to help prevent and treat many infections, hasten wound healing, and diminish allergies. Lemon juice also relieves symptoms of asthma, tonsillitis, and sore throats.

# Lemon is a diuretic. This means that lemon water is especially good for people with urinary tract infections. People with arthritis or rheumatism can benefit from consuming lemons because it helps flush out toxins and bacteria. When lemon is mixed with coffee, it also helps eliminate headaches. (Interesting, caffeine is usually a precursor to headaches. Maybe the lemons cancel out the side effects of the caffeine found in coffee?)

# When externally applied, lemon juice poured on a cotton ball and gently applied to the nostrils can stop nose bleeds although this may sting a little. When massaged gently into gums, lemon juice can stop bleeding gums in the mouth. Lemon juice with glycerin is effective when used on the lips to treat chapped lips. (Don't apply lemon juice however, if the skin on your lips is cracked. Ouch!) Applied on your skin, lemon juice can also help prevent sunburn. Lemons are a key ingredient in effective liver cleanses.

# Water cleanses and purifies the body. It also has an alkalizing effect on the body. It is essential to every bodily function at a cellular level in the body. Bottled water has become a staple product of our society. The water you drink is essential to your existence but we forget how much we rely on it until we don't have it. Then we really miss and crave it. (Think about Katrina or Survivor!)

# Lemon is also very good at clarifying your hair to remove hair products. For those with dark hair, you can use lemon juice to add golden and red highlights to your hair. For those with blonde hair, you can use it to lighten your blonde color. To do this, simply squeeze the juice from 1/2 lemon (or more) into your hair and sit out in the sun for an hour. Shampoo and condition afterwards for hair that looks shinier, reflects more highlights, and feels cleaner!

It is imperative that you get both water and lemon in your diet, if you want to stay healthy and preserve your beauty. When you mix them together to make lemon water, you get a healthy way to replenish and rejuvenate your body.

I drink only lemon juice and water daily instead of sodas.I also do it for the cleansing effects. I keep lemons in the fridge (but they are getting expensive).

There is a company that made crystallized lemon called True Lemon (Lime and orange also) so you get one wedge worth in a packet (box of 32). I keep those in the office so I always can add to my water or as a replacement for salt.
The results I notice with drinking it: I rarely get sick and my skin remains clear.

i really need to start doing better about my health and i have a myriad of dygestive issues. i'm going to try this. thanks!

you can substitute real lemons for lemon juice in a bottle

:smh: Don't do it!

That lemon juice is pasteurized and from concentrate. Do not drink juices from concentrate! Get the fresh or crystallized lemon so that you at least get the vitamin C content. That bottled stuff is made to sit on shelves and go into alcoholic beverages...or whatever...

For real: Try to drink fresh squeezed lemons. There is more than just vitamin c you get from them straight off the vine.

yeah, i love this shit. i got my hands on some freak lemons a few weeks back. bro, those shits were as big as grapefruits. i love to drink that shit when i hit the weights.

Just lemons, water, and no sugar....
hmm.. what about mixing it with green tea?

Even better because you'll be getting the antioxidants from the tea. Instead of sugar use honey.

Honey is a simpler sugar, just like maple syrup. It can be easily digested unlike white refined sugar, which is the main thing you should avoid.

This is True Lemon, but keep a few things in mind:
1. It's crystallized so some mineral content is kept it but the H2O has been removed.
2. You still get the Vitamin C content that is a great benefit of lemon juice
3. It dissolves in water and still gives you the alkanizing benefit
4. Can be a substitute for salt, especially on seafood and poultry.
5. Shelf stable. Since there is no water in it's content it won't rot.

Just lemons, water, and no sugar....
hmm.. what about mixing it with green tea?

Thats a good idea. Also what I do sometimes is throw lemons or limes, water, and a good sweetener like agave syrup together. Also you just gotta acclimate your tastebuds to less sweetness. If you have no sugar you don't need it. Agave and also there is Stevia and Xylitol powder. Stevia is worth a try it tastes different than sugar tho. Agave tastes the most honey / sugar like but I suspect its not THAT great for you.

I got this chillin in the back of my frig...is it anygood?

NO. There is no subsitute for fresh squeezed fruit juice. None. Nutrients quickly deminish in the form of bottled juices. Please use the real thing ("real" as in actual fruit).
