Dressing your age??

Having a chat with my bredren who is 35yrs and wears a size 40 something to 50 something pants :hmm: and claims that its his style and he finds it comfy. Why are adult males still carrying on this trend? I mean he can fit a couple of Ladyscorpio's in his pants and a couple more in his shirts.:o yeah What is the limit people?
Also having a belt on does NOT make the pants any smaller :smh:

What about men wearing sandals?? I have just been made aware that apparently some think that its a no no.:dunno: Is this really the case?


Ladies when is the time for us to stop wearing the poom poom shorts, the skirts that might as well be non-existent?


When does one consider it time to "act" and "look" ones age?

You asking the wrong one with me. I 37 and still wear sneakers and miniskirts and jeans and whatever I want. Yeah I dress up sometimes still but not every day. You KNOW I got my rasta suits for the reggae shows too with matching sneakers :hmm:

I think as adults we should all know what we can and can't wear. There are plenty of grown ass people out there who dress like teenagers. I think we should honestly assess ourselves and find the styles that fit us the best. In addition to that we should all dress in attire that is appropriate for the places/events we attend. If you're going somewhere thats informal and/or casual it's OK to wear jeans, timbs, t-shirts, etc., but when it's time to get "dressed" we should recognize that and wear clothing that suits that situation...

It is so important to dress your age. You need to be taken seriously, especially as a young adult getting older. I dont get the appeal of wearing baggy ass jeans (i'm not attracted to it). I also cant see myself wearing a short ass skirt and sneakers...I personally dont want to look like a little girl.

A lot of your wardrobe, I think will depend upon what you do for a living. So that's how it could reflect on age.

If you can get away with sagging jeans, and you don't care about that image being projected about you, then so be it.

But your not going to reinvent the wheel, and if you don't OWN it . . . there are certain places you will not be working sagging in Jeans and tennis shoes.

This is just fact.

But if you run tings, do you!

To answer your question I don't think there is really a set age for someone to dress as an "adult". I think it's more of a maturity issue than an age issue. With that said I don't want to see someone in their 50's dressed like some one in their 20's. Ideally we will all grow out of certain habits, activities, and styles as we grow older and more mature. With that as the case older people should not want to dress like the young and cool, they should want to dress like the older cool folks do... LS, as I mentioned before every so called adult should know how to assess the situation and dress accordingly. Anyone who can't do that is probably not what you and I would call a real adult. As we all know when it comes to maturity there are plenty of boys who "look like men" and girls who "look like women". Real men and women should not have a problem adapting to their surroundings...

OK where as i said I wear sneakers and miniskirts and jeans and rasta suits, thats when I am having bigirl days. When I have to go to a meeting and things like that I put on a nice dress and nice shoes. However, I believe I will still wear the sneakers til I die on my bigirl days.

I am not a big fan of the overly baggy pants myself at any age yet I hate the sagging skinny or tight pants even more.

Anyways I do NOT like the overly baggy pants look myself. I think that its almost like they are over compensating for something :hmm: And then there are the capri's for men :hmm::smh:

Anyways I prefer men undressed but if they MUST wear clothing I prefer a more casual and at sometimes more conservative vibe.


Now saying this, clothing does NOT make the man yes.

Unless his waist is actually 40-whatever, he should buy pants that FIT him properly. A belt (which assists in holding up the pants, and keeps them properly level) is MANDATORY as well.

I am not really into sandals, but if a guy is wearing shorts, etc. I do not see the problem. Wearing them with slacks/dress pants is a no no. Also, if you must wear sandals, make sure your feet do not look like you drove Fred Flintstone's car across country and then dug yourself half way to China with them.

What's worse are all the kids (and I mean those that "graduated" from College) who think that it is okay to show up for an interview in low-rider jeans, sneakers, and belly shirts :angry:

I don't care if you have a 4.0 from Harvard, if you show up for an interview in jeans, or t-shirt or with your ass crack hanging out, I'm not hiring you! :angry:

1. First, I think it stopped being considered a trend once the style was over three years old. People have adapted their style of dress as their way of life, it's something that most people do without even thinking twice about it because the people that do it have been doing it for so long now. (Excluding the younger teens that do it these days)

2. As far as the limit, that all depends on the person as how it affects whats going on in their life. If you 40yrs old and you still on the corner doing nothing, then you not gonna think about changing how you dress, but if you have a full time "STABLE" job (not at 7 eleven) then you just might think twice about how you dress.

3. Now the sandals, I cant say when it stopped being cool, cause I dont know, but just know, it's not cool!

4. I think any age is a good age to act your age. Im tired of seeing 13 and 14yr olds trying to look like they in they 20s, but as far as adults, to each his own. What you eat dont make me shit!

It boils down to being all about personal preference, but if you see a guy that you feeling that still dresses like he's in his teens, you just might not be feeling him all that much, and if you do the real question is, how much are you willing to overlook?
 
No there is not a set age only situations. A responsible adult should dress for the occasion. If it is something informal dress in what you are comfortable in. If it is formal dress appropriately. Fuck what people think. I would never judge somebody by the way they dress. Look at Russell Simmons. Dude dress like a bum and he's rich!


And men should not wear sandals. I'm sorry but that shit is gay :puke:
 
I say do what the fuck you feel... you get one life... LIVE IT... and long as you not hurtin nobody and llook good in what you wear.. who gives a shit cause for every 1 person who dont agree... there are at least 281 who do.. so fuck it.. LOL Just my Opinion.. ​
 
This is a very subjective question. I'll say that it depends on how well you take care of yourself, and how your body ages. If you look good at 37 wearing stuff that 21 year olds wear...do you. It's a rare woman who can pull it off, however.
 
I think that for men and women this can vary. I do hate to see guys who are over 21 who wear sagging jeans. You can have jeans with a lose fit without having them hanging off your ass. But what angers me more is ill fitted shirts. I cannot stand someone who wears XXXXXL shirts when they only need an XL... just gross!!

I think with women, after a certain age, you should leave the ultra mini shorts and hot pants alone, not to say you can't wear figure flattering clothes but idk... my mom is 40 and when I see her dressing inappropriate, I'm the first one to be like what the hell are you wearing... so I know others notice...

I had to reassess my wardrobe at one point and say, OK i'm too old for shit like this... it just happens...
 
I said this in another thread...but you have to be honest with yourself about what image you want to project. Just because the clothes come in your size doesn't mean you SHOULD wear them. A 40 year old man/woman in an outfit made for a teenager is NOT sexy.

If you're creative, there are way too many clothing options for you to NOT be comfortable, trendy, sexy AND age appropriate...

no mandals the only time i feel it is ok to wear mandals is when i am visiting a place like your home. You know some where that has blue water and white sands. No the dirty beaches at the jersey shore dont count.
 
i never understood the sandals issue. i'll throw on a sandals jump in the ride and go
wherever. i just make sure my feet aren't ashy. my jeans which are loose, fit on my
waist without a belt. i'm fortunate to have a job where i can wear jeans, polos or
shirts and khakis. i only wear suits, ties, shoes to occasions that warrant them.
outside of that its, sneakers, jeans, t-shirts or shirts.
 
If someone feels comfortable in the clothes that they wear, then thats there issue whether or not I like what there wearing.

Man in sandals??.....oh no,not for me
