Do you think this time is different? If yes, why?

Was it being in quarantine that made some white folks digest things in a different way? The events that sparked this set of protests isn't much different than things we've seen before. We have one of these every generation. However, it usually all black folks (with a few non-blacks) on the front line marching for justice. Something has seemed to connect with whites that hadn't connected previously.

Support for BLM has grown by 30 percent over the last 3 weeks. Never has any moment gained support so quickly. When you break it down demographically, even white people support BLM by more than 50 percent in most polls.

Was is being locked up in the house and people having time to process things and not ignore them by being "busy"? What is the impact of people seeing how the Treasury was looted for trillions of dollars and none of it reaching them? Was is people seeing the gov't absolutely failing to address covid-19 and people realizing how fucked up the system is.....and thus realizing that maybe black people had been telling them the truth about how corrupt it really is? Is it the kids being more educated and informed about sophisticated systems than previous generations. I'm sure yall notice how fucking smart these kids are that they're interviewing at these protests? These kids completely understand how every mechanism in the gov't is completely broken. They heard people saying there wasn't money for student loan debt cancellation, but after covid-19, the gov't printed up trillions in a heartbeat so save big businesses.

This seems like a real moment. Lots of whites doing the right thing without having a knife at their throat.

Ehhh. I think itll swing back the other direction. It always does. Racism is baked into most places whites are the majority. I think SOME reform will happen, but racism will still be here. Repubs gonna ramp this shit up the closer we get to election day too. Stay tuned, everyone will go back to their corners.

No doubt. Racism will always be part of society because it's so ingrained into everything and there are 10s of millions of racist white adults in the U.S. I'm still a bit surprised by this current moment though.

I don't think ramping this up is going to work for the GOP this time though. It will help them keep a hold on the GOP base, but they'll run others away. Something has turned public sentiment and they're not getting it back (at least not before November). Reminds me of the polling on interracial relationships..once it turned positive (in polling), it never went back negative.

Facts! Barring any White Republican angst for losing the election, we will get a little change and then people will be glad to call it a win and go back to their lives.

Yep, there are less distractions because of the lockdown. No sports, no concerts, no rallies, no theme parks, and so forth.

There is nothing to take people’s mind off the issue. A tragedy hit them dead in their face and they couldn’t ignore it because there is absolutely nothing to distract them. It’s all over the internet and the media is reporting it everywhere.

This COVID19 pandemic has been a blessing in disguise. As morbid as it sounds, especially at the cost of over 100k Americans, that humbling was necessary. Americans, in particular, just really didn’t understand how easy it is to get us distracted from real issues.

That’s why some of these CACs was pissed at Colin. Because he brought an issue to a sporting event where CACs wanted to be certain they can escape from. Now that all their leisure activities have been halted, they can’t escape having to address watching a Black man blatantly kill on camera by the police.

But not just the injustice of Black people. There is nothing to distract them from Trump’s fuckery either. It’s all on front street for people to see.

So many was forced to put their own moral compass at test. Any decent human being with an ounce of sympathy/empathy and can see what happen with George Floyd stems from a deeper and long running issue.

30-40% of this country think Trump is doing a great job. 80-90% of Republicans still think Trump is doing a great job ... We ALL know now where the problem is in America, but there really isn't much we can do about it even after voting them out of power. They will just bide their time spreading their hate on social media, the radio and TV until they can get back in power to erase any progress we will make.

Except this time COVID19 is here. Don’t underestimate that at all. Clearly, this virus is changing society in more ways than we can possibly imagine.

We have no idea what to expect.

Hard-core Trump supporters are a dying breed and they see the changes around them and they know it’s nothing they could do about it. I mean the military is finally going after the confederate flag Hard right now also NASCAR banning the confederate flag this year has been very interesting Indeed.

No, it is the same for us native so-called blacks still living in captivity.

the only difference is in-fighting amongst whites. it is unfortunate we can’t use this to our advantage to usurp them and take our land back because there are too many sellouts and agents.

Only the globalists AKA the profane of the so-called black community think the whites are “seeing the light”

:smh:

“White man’s ice is colder” syndrome hasn’t been this blatant in over 100 years.

I agree with this as well and I just got done thinking about that same thing yesterday. The country swings like a pendulum. It swung hard right after Obama to Trump and Nativism/White supremacy, soon all the good feelings will fade and America will return back to it's white supremacist ways (whites as victims to multiculturalism) as it's always done.

Core institutions have racism baked in as you've mentioned. That's not going away.

Thats why its important to get legislation passed while all this kumbaya is happening.

End no knock warrants nation wide

End immunity for cops

Defund police, they do not need that much money in their budgets, it can go to social programs

Deconstruct and reorder police nationwide with civilian oversite built in

The movement may put a small dent but racism will be alive and well next year. Black unemployment will be high and even Black sex workers will discriminate the Black INCELS and porn studs. Sisters can #BLM all they want but will turn down avg looking brothers to be with unattractive cacs. What is the name of that Black trick Youtube channel? He pretty much brags how he wins by tricking and avoiding single moms.

Of course and when we tell people it's not just protesting but also voting to drive home the change we are looking for it falls on deaf ears. Especially to young people. The Protesting is the start of the fire, the changing of the laws is result after the inferno.

It's happening. I wonder how much of this moves the needle and sets things up for a dem POTUS + dem controlled congress.

I'm really interested to see if this movement also gets the youth out to vote in November. The kids are highly motivated right now.

Cant even say why exactly, but it just feels different this time. This issue isn't going away so easily. I also can't recall a time when so many corporations/companies (even if it's just lip service) have spoken out against racism. They were damn near tripping over themselves to try to put out statements, pledge monies, etc.

One big reason why this issue isn’t going away........ trump

You have to fight your enemies with every tool in the box. Voting is one of those tools. It's not just about a National election but on the local level too. If city councils, Mayors, Sheriffs, Judges still have the same attitudes (and seats) then none of this shit will stick.

I agree 100%. I wonder if this movement (seeing how police departments can be impacted) will help the youth understand how important their vote is when it comes to shaping local politics.

Yeah. It's weird, right? They're doing the right thing without even being pressured. For instance, no one was putting pressure on Nascar. They did the right thing without being forced to do it.

I just don't want to see that same passion fizzle out and I see that happening. Not just in November but when it's midterms and those local elections. So it's time for adults to really step up and get with the youth and encourage them to shape that fire correctly

Nothing substantial is going to change. Unlike the last civil rights movement there is no cold war to put international pressure on the USA.

Yes, there's protest around the world, but most of these are people inspired by the United States to force their government to take on their own internal issues.

However, there is no call for a boycott on us goods, no countries threatening dropping out of treaties with the US. Nobody fighting to close international u.s. military bases, or anything else that would put a check on the USA's behavior.

without that pressure this is going to turn into nothing more than a small footnote in American history.

I already disussed it in previous threads.. Everybody was going through economic hardship, isolated, being told to what to do... Pretty much oppression.. Many people had build in animosity and anger from the powers that be for doing this.. It so happens the community that used to get shitted on had 1 of the many on going negative actions filmed on video... For once it hit home to many other people who don't share the same complexion.. Oppression wasn't just a skin color thing anymore.. So the people who had all that build in anger decided to jump on a cause to let their voice be heard....perfect storm... If a bully picks on one person at a time or in separate environments he usually can get away with it but if you put him in the room with all his victims all at once ,someone may get smart and say let's unify to take down the common enemy... Right now the powers of be are the common enemy and people are coming together to protest against it

I support Joe Biden replacing Donald Trump but boy right now is the time for a third term for Obama.

Remember, your vote doesn't count and both sides are the same, Trump will get his 20% male negro vote...
My other friend flogged our mutual friend for voting Trump. Slowly other guys said they voted Red too. These guys are low figured six digit dudes with the NRA.
