Discussion: FARGO on FX @10pm Update: Season 5 w/ John Hamm

I was hoping she had used different penmanship. But when she left her notebook behind at her apartment. Damn. Such a costly mistake as potential foreshadowing of doom ahead.

I mean YOU have to have tension you HAVE to have drama and she IS a kid

but that was kinda a BIG rookie mistake

but as a parent of a smart kid myself? I actually understand how accurate that is.

Agreed. It’s always the little things in life that come back to haunt us. Minor fuck ups.

Gonna be interesting to see how the last few eps play out. The shootout at the station. The shootout outside of Josto & Gaetano’s with their mom and another woman being killed in the crossfire. Zelmare getting away after Swanee and Deafy were killed in front of her. Shit ...

thats what Fargo all about

the little decisions

crisis of conscience

what rules we break or we hold

Loy thinking he could do something CLEVER like Doctor Senator by releasing the Italian brother..

it backfired

and instead of Justo's betrayal being his downfall?

It became his BIGGEST win

but his mom may have died in the process

even Deafy TRUSTING the OCD cop...

look where THAT got him

the OCD cop HESITATING and letting the girl escape...

Its all the little moments the breaks in confidence and conscience and common sense.

look how MANY INNOCENT people died just so that Deafy could "die with his boots on"

but Deafy STILL got caught slipping in the end.

Crazy thing?

All this baby swapping cause MORE bloodshed then if they just a little bit more common sense and honor.

Y

es, espi if Ethelrida keeps poking around, I mean she's already tried to poison them...

Agreed. As Playa was noting in a prior reply above, it’s all the little decisions, etc. Mayflower wanting to gain access to the letter. Choosing to poison Harvard. Fucking that up by
not actually killing him. Man, so many errors along the way by multiple parties.

Great points. OCD hesitating allowing Zelmare to escape. Deafy getting blasted by the guy he didn’t trust and had been monitoring and looking down upon, and feeling sorry for in a way at first. Josto’s mom being in the wrong place and time. Innocent kids Satchel, Zero, and Ethel’s families being caught up in all this. All the dead civilians at the big station shootout. Definitely a commentary on mass shootings ...

GREAT POINT

but for all Deafy religious parable spouting bullsh*t

he was willing to SACRIFICE all those INNOCENT lives

just to get those 2 escapees.

Deafy acted like he was SO MUCH BETTER than ALL these other people the Italians the Blacks the mentally challenged women...

but look what happened?

He has some of the WORST ego and hubris and unchristian acts.

Well said. And in the end he’s left dead with eyes open sitiing on the ground against the wall staring at his shooter. Mr. OCD-PTSD himself. Meanwhile there’s a trail of innocent bodies below on ground level, and instead of apprehending the 2 outlaw women alive, one was shot in the forehead and the other ran away. I hope Zelmare fucks some people up as payback for taking out her sidekick Swanee.

Hell, in a perfect world I’d like to see Ethelrida again foil nurse Mayflower. Set her up (Mayflower) to get arrested or killed for all her past actions at the hospital.

Here's that great exchange from season 2 with Mike Milligan & Lou Solverson, which was in direct correlation to the most recent episode with Loy Cannon & Deafy ... queued up to the 04:43 mark of the compilation clip ...

YEAH that part. This take place in 1950 they were barely letting black people in their church. Still looked at them with the curse of HAM and had us classified as lower and not able to obtain their like highest level of salvation. When your teachings as a religion sees me as less man get the fuck out of here....

I get the root cause is because the religion was founded in America where the other religions were before the race construct had taken on it's modern form. For those religions a lot of them came up in areas where lots of different type of people existed in the same area. So they may have had an issue from people from "fill in the blank" or even all of these people are dark but it was not today's race structure but Mormonism came into being after the construct existed and in America. So as human's do you know it became enshrined in their teachings...
According to those confused racist cacs, black folks did not gain admittance to heaven until the first black saint in the late fucking 70s.

I watched the movie for the first time last week. It explains the suitcase full of cash and that shit was bloody af. Great movie. I don't know how I missed it. I think it was when I hung up my cleats to join the real world and finish school and shit.

Agreed. I was still in high school at the time, but always knew I would get around to it one day. Especially it being such a fan fave. Only ended up seeing bits and pieces of it on TV over the years. Figured I need to sit down and watch it properly (having loved the series now in recent years).

Steve Buscemi was great.

Frances McDormand was perfect in her role.

It was great to see the similarities from Martin Freeman in season 1 to William H. Macy in the original movie. The mannerisms & nervousness while being up to no good, etc.

yea I slightly recall that in season two....

and Oreatta didnt she fiqure out the girl sent the letter to her new employer, thus putting the nail in her coffin if her poison victim makes a full recovery....

bruh the actin in this shit is always off the chain, chris rock is holding his own nicely... even tho some scenes I seen the ol comedien chris come out and I almost broke out and laughed

almost....lookin forward to the last two episodes..
Chris went a little Pookie in a few scenes but so far he has been killing it. B+ performance so far.

The Coen's write the fuck out of imperfect humans. That's why most mofos get caught in real life, everything from leaving your wallet at the scene of the crime or bragging about the crime.

Well said. Along the way, people slip up. Even in petty little shit in everyday life, as you noted. People will go decades without getting caught, then they'll jokingly say something or someone will piece something together. Crazy how often it happens with cold cases from way back.

That was a classic. I am going to watch that one with my boys and Pop over the holiday. My boys were too young when it first dropped. They are ready now.

Smart move waiting until they're of age to appreciate the dialogue and story. Cool to see it across multi-generations too!

Speaking of Coen bros movies ... took my dad to see Inside Llewyn Davis (premiere) back in the day ...
