Did Obama’s Tenure Hurt Black Turnout in 2016? What Does It Mean For 2020?

If you can't see why some people would flock to trump based on their upbringing then it's nothing to talk about. You're not logical.

When the democrats been hooking you niggas along for years not doing shut for you combined with female lead households when black men in their being treated like bitches then it's nothing to talk about.

Some black folks like how trump let's it fly. As man that's important.

Yall act like racism is worst than poverty, like a nigga should be loyal to the democrats being treated like a notch all day in his own community.

You just a emotional nigga put me on ignore Playa.
:roflmao: :roflmao: You sound like one of those "I'm the only negro out here in whitelandia" kind of dude.

On this subject 90+% of us are on the "us niggas" side. But its cool, we see you very clearly. I said it before, BGOL is not for you, not just for your politics, but your whole person.

why is it so hard to admit that people weren't feeling Hillary?

A no name senator from Illinois was able to step all over the Clinton dynasty and take the oval office for 8 years. When Hillary finally had a chance to claim her spot, another up and comer was in the process of taking her shit, until she went crying to the DNC and asked them to help rig the primaries in her favor. If Hillary shit was on-point this scenario would not have had happened twice in a row.
The writer posits one potential factor among other reasons why Trump won. She's not saying that Obama is the sole reason, rather that his not meeting a segment of voters' expectations during his presidency might have been a contributing factor to Hillary's defeat- particularly since he aligned himself with her. This would be in combination with the general dislike of Hillary. Both Hillary and Barack are establishment democrats, just like Joe Biden, Pelosi and the like that uphold the status quo. It is not to say that there aren't positive attributes or high points to Barack Obama's record as president, certainly there are.

This essay is a sober analysis, not a beatdown. I like Barack, but I know it's relevant to NOT look at his presidency ONLY through rose-colored glasses and paint him as an infallible saint. I don't subscribe to the mentality that any criticism of his presidency equals hate. By no means is he the devil. But he's not God either. He attempted bipartisanism with a pack of ravening wolves. And her point is well-taken and factual about his weak stance on moving to stop killings of unarmed Black people by murderers with badges and work to change the system that fails to prosecute them. This, with recognition of the fact that Trump and his ilk don't give a damn about us at all. There's a lesson in this: people are tired of the same old bullshit repackaged. Right now, the opposition, the republican party are turning Trump into an autocrat. A man who is above the law with unchecked power. This shit is serious. Slow-footed, sold out, compromising establishment democratic politicians are not the antidote. Shit has officially stepped up

There is no presidential candidate running now who 100% supports everyone's issues. That's impossible. But whoever beats Trump should be someone from outside of the machine. It's what the majority of the voting public wants - a radical and bold disease needs a radical, bold cure. As for us, staying home on election day is not the answer and should not be an option. We do NOT need a mentally ill megalomaniac with unlimited, unchecked power running the show. The republican Senate this week just handed him the keys to that kingship - immunity from accountability for any crimes or illegal action from him as long as he remains president. Voting is the only way out of this.

He was forced into bipartisanship because of the blue dogs in the party, the cowering liberals, and the fact that Republicans took control of congress.
As far as dealing with police departments. He did consent decrees but there is no way the feds are going to be able to solve that problem alone. These are state and local issues. We saw what happened in Ferguson. All that outrage and still only a few showed up to vote.

Actually a lot of folks did end up voting . It is why the DA who cleared Wilson is out of office. He was a lifer in that position until Ferguson happened. It also why a lot the remaining prosecutors voted to join the police union. The new DA had them spooked.

And for the record, the police are going after her as we speak.

Actually a lot of folks did not end up voting. After all that outrage voter turnout should have been above 50% but it wasn't and still isn't.

I think that argument would have been valid if 2016 was the first time she ran. What was the excuse in 2008 when the Clinton's were still considered royalty and the only legacy at play was her husband's?

I think she was basically Al Gore 2.0.

And everything you said is correct but the issue is since this is BGOL and we speak alot about "black issues" did black issues worsen under Trump than under Obama?

For most of us the answer is no and also regardless of how powerful Trump is let's not act like he's gonna come to the hood and kill everyone, the flint water crisis was under Obama and he couldn't fix it. Our only ally is us being on code and coming together to fight unjustice, social media is a huge tool of that. Cops got locked up, racists got fired from work due to social media, everything hit social media then the people make noinse.

Screaming and complaining and asking for assistance from those very people you don't fuck with is simply not gonna work much anymore, this isn't just a racial issue but a class issue as well.

As for democrats all of them are against reparations and none of them even have the guts to say "black" but people of color, and bernie is the only canidate that fits your bill, the rest of establishment.

You can push Trump outta office cuz he's such a racist, angry negro killer and you can run down to the store and buy your sons some dresses and some high heels cuz that's the next move. You can vote dem until you destroy the family unit and then bitch about the broke muthafuckers around you who don't do shit with themselves cuz that's what's gonna happen next.

Worrying over Trump but looking past the LGBT and all the sociological plans these dems have to fuck up the gender of the black community.

I'd rather someone leave my black ass alone than someone always trying to figure out what I'm up too.

Ya'll are a cult, a cult of emotions and feelings, I'm not the one bitching about Trump, that's you playa. I'm smart enough to know Trump don't give a damn about me and that's good. He ain't on my TV pushing for billy porter to wear a dress, he's not using words like POC when clearly blacks are at the bottom of that list. It's ya'll that side with these racist liberals and bash fellow blacks who don't fuck with liberals. I'm good, I'm a nigga not far from the hood and I fight for me, I feel better not deal with them racist joe rogan progressive faggots, it's ya'll who give them a pass, I don't fuck with any of them.

I would rather be left alone than seeing my son turn gay, start rubbing up on dudes legs and shit.

I'm a realist like I said the Flint water crisis was under Obama, he did nothing, Dylan killed 9, Obama came out there and started signing church helms, that was disrespectful and you know if that was 9 jews that nigga would have bent over real quick. You know none of these cacs care about our black asses, you may be a little more than me due to you making more money but that you're only chip, you gotta get money for them to even address you seriously.

So you get money and turn into some liberal shill and shit on others who don't fuck with them?

Everyone comes here and wants to be white and ya'll over here bashing niggas who don't vote..... nice.

I can turn on my tv and see black folks disrespecting each other every day on LIVE TV for the world to see and you'll worried about Trump repeating?

And you calling me moist?

I mean even if sports they push that mommas boy talk like these dudes don't have wives... and you niggas don't complain about that? Ya'll don't complain about the stereotyping because I'm guessing you got yours so you good, fuck them, hood niggas, huh?

The writer is overthinking this way too hard.

Trump won 2016 because he cheated and Hillary Clinton ran a shitty campaign.

Clinton's campaign was shitty because she reached out to the blue states that would have voted for her anyway while Trump targeted the purple ones.

when it comes to Black voters, Clinton could have got every single black person in California and New York to turn out and vote for her and the result still would have been the same.

For whatever reason, people showed up to vote for the new DA. So far, she is going hard against the police in St.Louis.

And that's how you should do it, we've been told several times already you gotta target the small elections to make the real changes. She needs to fight them until she wins and needs the people behind here, real issues is bgol coon niggas who just think Trump is the problem but neglect the smaller elections.

These niggas got there and don't care about the rest of their own people.

This nigga called me moist when I don't get high off symbolic victories... others do. I'm convinced Obama won because he was an educated, intellectual brother who wore a suit, the symbolization of that alone got him in office and my moms were one of those people who got excited seeing that.

Single motherhood is a damn, serious problem, emotional people who vote off the image.

That has to be a consistent thing. Hold all politicans (including black folk) accountable and keep them uncomfortable. Then you'll see some real change. Even when politicians are doing good there should be a time limit on how many terms they are in office. Otherwise they naturally get comfortable and stale.

 The fuck? What about other states. Republicans always lose cali and Ny.

The reality is black voters supported the hell out of Obama. By 2016, ain't shit changed and folks were like 'meh'. Folks had 'hope and change' fatigue.

But I'll be damn if folks start setting up excuses for a 2020 L. Don't blame Obama or black voters for the sorry state of the party. Obama did his thing and black voters have been a rock for the party despite getting the least from it.

That's my point. If Democrats had reached out to Black voters in the purple states in 2016 we'd be taking about president Clinton's re-election right now. Anything Obama did right or wrong wouldn't matter.

If disillusioned whites didn't fall for the Trump okey doke we'd be talking about president Clinton's re-election.
You can't blame this mess on Black people who didn't vote. There were still counties upon counties of red
who bought into the lies who showed up because while he may not be David Duke, he is the kind of lowlife to
find good people on both sides, complain about the NFL, and give Rush a medal.

And I haven't even touched on the political atrocities he has made... Before getting elected, he said he would
divest, and it's been 4 years and a long legal battle but that has not happened yet. So what truth does Trump
live by? All he wants and got was power.

I think Hilary lost because her own demographic didn't come through for her, those being middle-aged white women.

The voting public is always less than 60% of the population.
The presidency is becoming more of a popularity contest than really taking these jokers
up on their promises.

So when Trump can garner more support, or discourage support for a different side, some idiot is listening.
Give me any idiot who claims to be Democrat, but is moral, and that person should win in a landslide against
a Trump. But as we know Trump lit a fire but using the evils of white America that was just waiting to be
riled up to win.

I think his win was more of a light shining to show we are still in hell among a lot of devils, rather than an
indictment on groups that didn't do their part.

I hear you, but.... All day, every day DNC 2020 candidates talk about the their potential appeal to african americans like we are all just one mass homogeneous subset, when of course different issues resonate differently with each of us. Why can't they have so much confidence in their own simple demographics.

They did reach out. Same shit they do every 4 years. Show up to the black churches, clap and sing, and bounce.

Clinton didn't talk to the white folks that Obama got to vote for him. Black voters showed the usual loyalties. Cacs who voted Obama flipped.

These the same people you think will kindly write you a check?

I support the togetherness but I didn't say I think we're getting a check.

The mindset changing is a plus but IMO it ain't about the check it's about figuring out how we want ourselves to be displayed going forward by politicians and the media.

A check is just a form of togetherness... brings people together.

I will never forgive that nigg for what he said

I’m mean i sorta can’t blame Hilary Clinton. I’m pretty sure she taught Donald Trump campaign was a joke. So she taught she had it in the bag.

Donald Trump saw that there was going to be a anti-establishment wave coming. People where tired of the Neo-Globalism. So he took advantage of it. Around the World From the US, Brazil, Europe there is a anti-globalist movement. Everybody is going back to nationalism.

It’s was took late for Hilary and the Media too see the wave coming.

Anyone who cannot see that while the Democratic Party has not been a panacea for black people it is so much better than the Republican Party that has done absolutely nothing for poor people and people of color is an uninformed idiot. Just compare the legislative record of both parties and then tell me Democrats and Republicans are the same. It is these same idiots whose only inane solution to getting the Democratic Party to be more responsive is to tell black people not to vote for them because their vote doesn't count and is just taken for granted. Fuckin' imbeciles do not realize that every vote not cast for Dems is a vote for Republicans who really don't give a fuck about anyone who is not white... :smh:

Donald Trump saw that there was going to be a racist backlash wave coming. People where tired of the Neo-Globalism (code word for Jewish) . So he took advantage of it. Around the World From the US, Brazil, Europe there is racist backlash movement. Everybody is going back to nationalism (code word for white supremacy).

It’s was took late for Hilary and the Media too see the wave coming.

I fixed all your mistakes for you Agent Forcesteeler.

Fuck off bulshit. The reason for the bad turnout in 2016 was all the Bernie backers were butthurt and said "Fuck the country" and stayed home

Another large batch didn't think Trump had a chance so they stayed home thinking they already had it in the bag

Obama did his job, he didn't have to do any more

Lol :) You need to get out more and stop living your life behind a keyboard.

Donald Trump did not just win on racism. If it was racism how the fuck did Obama win 2 terms? Now are there racist in the Republican Party? Yes of course but that was not the major factor.

Hilary Clinton was a garbage ass candidate plus people were tired of Globalism. Globalism is dying all over the world and it’s being replaced by Populist and people are going back to nationalist ideas. Also In the United States People are tired of wokeness and political correct culture.

Neo-Liberalism(Clinton’s, Obama’s)
and Neo-Conservatives (Bushes, McCain, Romney Factions) the establishment classes are being wiped out by Populism.

Example

You have Boris Johnson taking over the UK.
You have Bolsonaro Taking over Brazil.
You have Duterte taking over the Philippines
Populism is also taking over Europe. France is next.

None of these countries ever had a black president or black prime minister. But there is establishment backlash. People are seeing there jobs going to overseas and also losing it to automation to do Corporate Globalism and Infux of immigration. I can go deep but it will be 100 pages. I would let James explain it.

So Trump, Brazil, and half of Western Europe saw this coming, but Clinton somehow didn't? Despite serving 8 years as secretary of state? Despite having Charleston, Sandy Hook, Cliven Bundy, multiple police killings and the Oregon landgrab happen under her watch?
