It's an interesting thought experiment, but at the end of the day the questions "why are we here?" and "who created us?" Have only led us to hatred, death, and destruction.
Maybe it's time to throw up our hands and say "who gives a fuck?"
We might never know if It was science, God, or aliens and that's okay. We're here now. Our purpose is whatever we decide it is. Morality is whatever works best for our human collective. We've been around for 100,000 years we're good enough to figure all that out for ourselves. We don't need holy men with unearned certainty.
