Just got in from a 3day hospital stay. I was just diagnosed with Diabetes. Need Major Lifestyle change/and diet. I know this disease is heavy in our commuinity, so if ya'll got any suggestions, recipes, diets, exercise routines etc. It would be gr8tly loved

3. Do not drink any fluids 30 mins before or after eating.
4. eat fruits on an empty stomach.
5. spinach is natures perfect food.

sorry to hear that, my homegirl is pregnant and she just got diagnosed as well, it really is plaguing our community
I have Diabetes also. My Blood Sugar level was 1280 when I went in the hospital (4 Days).
After I got out I spent a couple days depressed, Even though I wasn't while in the hospital..Weird.
DO NOT HIRE a personal Trainer like I did.
Cut down calorie intake to about 1500-2k a day. WALK or Light jog up to 2-3 miles getting better endurance.
Cut out, as much sweets and bad carbs as possible.
My diet now allows me to live on 25 bucks a week, and I'm not skimping on what I like.
Heres a Sample of my cupboard.
Bananas, Fresh Fruits, Nuts.
No salt at all. Grow my own seasonings.. very easy and takes up very little space.
Honey Wheat bread, Low carb wraps.
Cheerios, buy in bulk and save money.
Non-Sweet flavored tea.. Good for the soul and the body..literally.
Tuna and sea food.. good for ocular health and heart health.
Chicken.. and that's abotu it.
My "treat" is cheez it's. Also I eat unhealthy foods every saturday. Keeps you in touch, but with exercise, it wont hurt much.

You have to get a fasting blood sugar (you can go to a clinic if you don't have a doctor). If it's 126 or more, you are diabetic. Or if you get 2 random blood sugars above 200 you are diabetic.curious what sugar number level is considered diabetic?

You have to get a fasting blood sugar (you can go to a clinic if you don't have a doctor). If it's 126 or more, you are diabetic. Or if you get 2 random blood sugars above 200 you are diabetic.
You can't take it right after eating, but you can do it a couple of hours after eating. If you have 2 of those over 200 then you are diabetic. I would do the overnight fast and then do a fasting glucose.Don't take after eating. It will be up.
yeah, but that may be a case where its temporay, Gestational Diabetes,caused by the pregancy itself, a co-worker of mine, his wife experienced that during the two times she was pregnat, and a little while after she gave birth, she was back to normal....

The first thing I can tell you, don't look at it as a death sentence. You can live a normal life and enjoy the things you always have. stay away from white foods:
sugar,flour, white bread,excess starch, and alcohol
eat more whole grains,and excersice... stay on top of it, pleanty of info fam. stay up!!!
was having issues with my blood pressure from drinking and having my morning coffee extra sweet,now i rarely drink and my coffeestay away from white foods:
