true...i work for the public sector so i do work a square job...but..for people in the private sector in employment at will states...this can definitely be applied to...why waste your time when you can make the leap of faith and take a risk...maybe you will find something much more enjoyable/rewarding/better paying...this is the perfect example of the slavemaster and his slave mentality right here.....work hard for massa while receiving little to nothing in return but a pat on the back...because you're lucky to have a little piece of bread thrown to you at the end of the week..because that is all you think you are worth..if that...but at least he isn't knocking old ladies in the head for their purses...

I learned a long time ago and even at times right here on BGOL that some people in fact many if not most people will stay stuck right in their little world and world view. Most of the time that's as an employee. That's a mentality. I call it an employee mentality. It can also be called a poverty mentality or mindset.
I used to argue and debate years ago with people about being self starters risk takers entrepreneurs providers and adopting the ownership mentality or the employer's mentality. Many people just couldn't relate to it couldn't understand it and couldn't really embrace it. I had a roommate back in the 90s who refused to even consider self employment or business ownership. Too much risk and chance of failure. He wanted a job and that's it. End of story. As long as someone hired him for work at a decent paying job he was satisfied.
I couldn't really be mad at dude. He wanted to be somebody's employee and somebody's customer and that was it. I was like cool. But some of the more ambitious among us want to be the provider and not just the consumer. We want to be owners and not just laborers. Besides providers will always need customers and the masses will always be mostly customers.
This 10 mile walking dude is an extreme example but it's the exact same mentality. Even if the man bought a car nine years ago he would still be just another working stiff schlub among a sea of masses. There are millions out there that think just like this dude just not as extreme. Each person creates their own comfort zone and sets their own limits.
So within his own circumstance and situation this dude did what he felt like he had to do. I can't be mad at that.

The issue is, they condition us with stories like this.
Do you know, to this very day, there are many of our people who are afraid to strive, because they feel they will lose touch with the community if they achieve too much? You think its a coincidence that we keep gettin' films that show us in subservient positions to whites in history? I know people feel like that we need to know our history. Thats fine. However, for a lot of people, films like that simply reinforce what many blacks believe: We are supposed to work for and be saved by whites. If you think thats bullshit, why can't we get an slew of movies where the roles are reversed? They're reinforcing this shit, man. They never stop. Ever.
Blackness has so been defined by the struggle, then even on a subconscious level, blacks who aren't in struggle mode anymore even start to feel "less black". Its fucking weird.

What should piss people off is not the good will effort but the fact that this brother in America has to walk 41 miles round trip to work. And they say America is the greatest country in the world smh more like its a 3rd world country
Fuck this place on some real shit.. Billions can be spent on fake ass wars and giving other countries aid but these piece of shit politicians can take the money and spend it on the infrastructure in the country especially cities like Detroit. There should be no reason why the transportation system in Detroit only goes certain places instead of having bus lines that got into the suburbs.
I hope the brother take that money and get the fuck up out of Detroit, go on an extended vacation to the carribean and sit on the beach for a week straight

On the page they say James asked to set up a committee board to handle the donations. Will the committee folks be people that he know's? At the end of it all, I wonder how much of that donation money is actually going to HIM????

Kind of hard to do in the snow. And he's not doing it all at once. He takes the bus in the morning and then walks 7 miles and then has to walk 13 miles at night due to limited service.
