The Gordie Howe International Bridge is set to open to traffic Monday, June 15, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, marking a major milestone for the long-awaited crossing between Detroit and Windsor, according to sources.
The roughly $4.4 billion bridge includes a multi-use path that will allow people to walk or bike between the United States and Canada, making it the only Michigan border crossing to offer that option.
The ceremony comes months after President Donald Trump said he opposed opening the bridge during trade tensions with Canada. The bridge was funded by Canada and has been under construction since 2018.

WARREN, Mich. - Two people are facing multiple weapons charges following a search warrant at a home in Warren on Tuesday.
Corey Eubanks, 20, and Elijah Eubanks, 19, were both charged with nine counts of firearms - devices to convert semiautomatic to automatic and one count of felony firearm.
Detectives from the Macomb County Sheriffs Office and the Warren Police Department executed search warrants at a home in the 8700 block of Maxwell Avenue in Warren on June 9.
There, authorities said they found the following items during the search:
Draco AK-47 style pistol
Two 3D printed Glock handgun frames
Nine Machine Gun Conversion Devices (MCDs), often referred to as Glock switches
3D printer
Multiple magazines and ammunition
Firearm components and accessories used in the manufacture of untraceable ghost guns
The sheriffs office said a Glock switch is a conversion device that can be attached to a semi-automatic handgun that can make it function as a fully-automatic handgun.
Ghost guns, according to authorities, are privately-made guns that typically do not have serial numbers, making it hard or even impossible to trace.
This case highlights the growing threat posed by illegal firearm conversion devices and the manufacturing of untraceable firearms, said Sheriff Anthony M. Wickersham. These modified handguns are capable of firing at an alarming rate, placing our communities at significant risk. I commend the members of SET and our law enforcement partners for removing these dangerous weapons and devices from our streets.
Corey and Elijah were arraigned in court. Corey was given a $100,000 cash bond and is required to wear a GPS tether upon release. Elijah was given a $75,000 cash bond and is also required to wear a GPS tether upon release.
Both were ordered not to contact each other. They remain lodged at the Macomb County Jail.

They go dumb every 4th of July
He's a good dude too. I know him. Delivers to seniors or disabled in the neighborhood himself. Takes in new and used clothing, puts them up on a rack in his store and allows those in need to come get what they need.
Damn! I remember Edgewater. The Wild Mouse
Whose headed to Jobbie Nooner Tommorow
Jobbie Nooner is one of the largest boat parties in the World.
It takes place 5-miles off the mainland on and around Gull Island in Lake St. Clair in Michigan, just north of Detroit.
Lake St. Clair is America’s busiest freshwater lake and Jobbie Nooner is Mardi Gras on the water: boats, beads, beer and boobs!
Lake St Clair Page is NOT the “organizers” of Jobbie Nooner, Raft-Off, etc.
Jobbie Nooner is a natural phenomenon that occurs every year. We are just one of the many supporters and information outposts for the various events.
Gull Island GPS coordinates
N42 32 17.012 and W82 40 35.884
