The original Lion King had mediocre reviews when it debuted. It became a box office smash. I remember that in 93”. Same thing is happening with this one also. The original got so big that tha original narrative got lost when it came to critics. Became a blockbuster cult classic.

I just got back from watching it..i would give it 3 stars out of 5...
Lupita was spot on as the leader of the hyenas..the movie had a darker feel to it than the first ones because these hyenas weren't goofy acting..
Donald Glover...mehh..then again, i didn't like matthew broderick's voice as simba either...if we gonna have someone similar to mufasa, get someone that has a little bass in his voice..i did like Simba's kid voice better than Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Beyonce...i liked her as Nala, but some of her lines were weird..
still like Jeremy Irons as Scar
Jon Oliver was fantastic as Zasu
I can see why the reviews were mixed, but i hope it makes a TON at the box office because it just felt like "our" movie..

from some supposed prominent movie critics also gave it negative reviews.
But the people who saw the movie spoke up and said fuck movie critics opinions.

Lion King was solid, way better than that bullshit Aladdin movie. The scenes when the Simba and Nala was running from the hyenas and the stampede was crazy. I saw ppl tearing up when Mufasa died, not a dry eye in the theater.
