Fam, I need some help. I am thinking about cutting cable, and I know there are some nice media players but there are alot of them. I have my eye on the matricom g box q2. Price isn't a big deal, but here some things that I am looking for.

Ease of use.
Kodi
I would like something that I could add live TV to, basketball, baseball, football, college.
Something that I can use peele smart remote with.
Something that works with popcorn time.
Reliability

Any suggestions ? Which do you own ? What is your experience, pros and cons of cutting the cord.
Wireless N or beyond
Bluetooth for headphones would be cool but not a deal breaker.

I know they can be jailbroken, but how are they in comparison to full blown android box ?

not as many features or specs

but the streams are pretty seamless

i've never had any major buffering issues when i use it

Nvidia Shield TV. Kodi is damn near flawless with it.

I looked at the shield, what are the cons ?

I am going to connect through a vpn, so I don't expect to have buffering issues.

So there are live channel repositoris I can add to it ?
There are plenty of different addons and repositories you can utilize to watch Live TV and sports. Check Joe Nobody on youtube.

I have the Fire box and the Nvidia. I like the Nvidia better because I can do retro gaming on it.

I just got it too. What type of KODI channels do you have on it.

i went to bestforkodi.com and picked up a few add-ons listed under the "top 10 movie add-ons" section. and i downloaded a porn one too, just to see if it was hd. the porn add-on was called "whitecream". they had a "blacked" section, and the clips were in hd.

I bought an OTT MXq Android TV box. Came with a remote and I also bought a little wireless keyboard to go with it. I'm still exploring it but it's loaded with apps including Kodi. I have 2 smart TV's with Netflix and Hulu. My cable plan is up next month.

Does kodi come on the roku 3, if not can it be added ?

No.. I bought a roku3 and you couldn't add kodi.. As far as live tv goes, there's a ton of live tv repositories.. It just take time to search for them!!

I just got a Roku 2 and trying to figure out how to get to the live channels.Trying to lessen the cord (cable tv) on my way to completely cutting it....Plus i heard Kodi was something for tech savvy folks and not very user friendly if u dont know what u r doing.

Unless you utilize PlayOn, you're not going to get live channels on a Roku2. Have one, and it still serves its purpose, but the rest of the devices mentioned in here blow the Roku2 away.

Hmm, kodi is real easy!! It takes some time to install and setup!! Go on YouTube and search install kodi!

If you are going to get Amazon get the fire to the fire stick is cool but if your are far away from your router you will have signal issues.

So Playon is an app i need to download on Roku?

It's an app and program you need to have on your PC running in order to stream on your home network to use on Roku. Also, you have to either pay monthly or buy a lifetime membership into.

It's not worth it. Had it, loved it til I found KODI.

So is this a good price and what ya'll recommending?

Amazon product ASIN B00U33Q940

The Nvidia Shield is cool, but IMO it is overkill in terms of price and specs if you just want it for Kodi.
It was designed as a gaming system; not to run Kodi, which does not require a lot of power to run.
So unless you plan on playing a lot of games on it, I don't think it's worth it.
Personally, I like the Amazon Fire TV (not the stick) the best.
But I have Amazon Prime too, so it works very well for me.
Honestly, almost any of the cheaper Android boxes will do the trick in terms of just running Kodi.

It's not over kill, its future proof and has more options (which some might be open too or like) and is decently priced.

I've run KODI on a few devices and can say it runs the best by far on Nvidia Shield.

What about live TV ?
I have Hulu, Prime, and Netflix subs already, but how do I watch live channels ?
If you get the right build and a couple add-ons, if I were you, I'd cancel those Prime and Hulu subscriptions. Kodi will provide EVERYTHING you'd get with those services and more.

Future proof against what? 4k? All these devices will be close to obsolete in a couple years anyway. That's just how it is. No device is truly 'future-proof'.
At $200, IMO, it is overkill as just a Kodi device.
All the other devices that run Kodi just as well are $100 and under.
If you're a hardcore gamer as well, then I could see it being a good buy.
