Cooper Hefner defends late dad Hugh ahead of Playboy docuseries premiere

The young Hefner condemned "salacious stories" about his father ahead of the premiere of A&E's Secrets of Playboy.

Cooper Hefner has spoken out in defense of his late father, Hugh, ahead of the premiere of the A&E docuseries about the Playboy media magnate.
Though the young Hefner does not explicitly mention Secrets of Playboy, the 10-episode series that lifts the curtain on the dark side of the Playboy empire, Hefner condemned "salacious stories" about his father in a tweet ahead of its Monday night premiere.
"Some may not approve of the life my Dad chose, but my father was not a liar," he tweeted Sunday. "However unconventional, he was sincere in his approach and lived honestly. He was generous in nature and cared deeply for people. These salacious stories are a case study of regret becoming revenge."

Directed by Alexandra Dean (This is Paris, Bombshell: the Hedy Lamarr Story), Secrets of Playboy will unravel the "glamorous mythology" behind the empire the late Hefner, who died in 2017 at 91, launched in 1953, chronicling a more "sinister reality" that for decades allowed "nefarious conduct including sexual assault and drug abuse to flourish, and where prostitution, suicide and even murder lurked in the shadows," per its press release.

Archival footage and exclusive interviews with the media magnate's former inner circle and past Playboy bunny girlfriends, including Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Sondra Theodore, will reveal details of the late Hefner's alleged mistreatment of women. In a teaser released last week, Madison, who dated Hefner from 2001 to 2008, likened her time at the Playboy mansion to being in a cult.

"We were all kind of gaslit and expected to think of Hef as this really good guy and you started to feel like, 'Oh, he's not what they say in the media, he's just a nice man," Madison recounted in the trailer, above. "It was so easy to get isolated from the outside world there."

Secrets of Playboy premieres on A&E on Jan. 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PST.

No need to defend him because everyone knows it was legal prostitution and he was their pimp but because he was white, they turned and looked the other way.

Playboy and that's why he was and made a hella of a living doing it......parents,mothers handing over their daughters to him for a career in selling sex.

Pimping ain't dead it's just taking a dirt nap.

Hef was WHITE and Liberal.
So he won't get "Cosbyed" or "R. Kellyed"

The hypocrisy is absolutely sickening.

I've been watching the special weekly and much of this stuff has been whispered about amoungst the fan base for a while now and some of this stuff I've heard about long before this special was even concieved.

Here's my takes as a long time subscriber/follower of the brand. Miki Garcia has had an issue with Playboy going back to the 1980s, this got worse in the mid 90s when Playboy established it's first website and made most Playboy content available for consumption. Miki had previously mentioned that she was rather embarrassed when her grandchildren found her nudes on a TGP site, next to pics of pornstars.

I question the allegations against Don Cornelius and the dog s*x thing Linda Lovelace might be a lie that has was spun from the fact that Linda Lovelace actually did a dog s*x video in 1969 or 1970. Linda Lovelace was also notorious for lying and being generally unreliable about her expiriences in porn.

The simple thing of it all is that Hef's legacy is going to be tarnished in the public but mixed amoung the women who knew him. There are women from the 1950s till his death that adore him and will state that he was a perfect gentleman, others will say different. This is evident by the posts that former Playmates have made on social media.

BGOL favorite Ashley Doris spoke highly of Hef after his death and maintains a good working relationship with the mag.

what i find appalling is that there is an absolute no response from the mainstream media, talk shows, bloggers etc. Listening to the women stories and 'm hearing the same shit but worse they said about cosby, kelly and Weinstein all rolled into one but instead of shining a harsh spotlight onto these women and the crimes committed against them, everyone is like.."hey its all good and no harm no foul" type of shit. Hugh may be dead but based on the crimes confessed too, the statute of limitations may not have run against everyone or again his estate. Hugh's estate can still be sued but why these women are giving positive accounts of the crimes committed against them is mind boggling WTF is Gloria Allred, this shit seems tailored made for her brand of justice.

Sad but true.. same thing with Kels.. or Cosby.. not every women, was their victim. Some will ride with him until the men until the end, because their truth is that they were never a victim or seen or heard anything during that time, so their truths are valid. Hugh wasn't and never was about shit, America gave him a hard pass because he was ....Rich & White and White & Rich. Nothing else to be said.

"As far as I'm concerned, EVERY man is or will be a rapist, an abuser or a misogynist at some point in his life.
More importantly; every woman IS a victim and must be believed when they say a man has raped, hurt, abused or taken advantage of them.
And representing those women is how I've managed to make a name for myself in Hollywood and made LOTS and LOTS of money...".

Side Note: I have no issue with Cooper, I think he had some interesting ideas for Playboy before he jumped ship and sold the mag but I can't see having your mother's centerfold in your house.

Dude had a huge blown up pic of his mom's centerfold in his hallway.
