Cookin for your man?

By my own admission I wouldn't call myself a great cook, but I'm learning at the moment. Never too late to learn. Got myself some cookbooks and is practising making dishes as I speak.

As for anyone cooking for me, I think thats a wonderful thing for someone for spend time and create a dish for someone else.

im glad someone bumped this threead

question for the men:

what would be a meal u would like a woman to cook for u?

would u prefer it to be fancy resturant style

or casual comfort food?

Casual comfort food.

But make it pretty.

Sight is just as important as the smell, taste, and texture.

Seriously:eek:that is hella tacky:smh:I mean if I go over to someones place for dinner I'm helping out ... I could never imagine not holding my own man down when he needs my help in the kitchen:smh:But my situation is reversed ... I would always be the one cooking etc and he would never help me out:dunno:guess it all depends on the person

do you/ya'll feel obligated to hit the dishes after someone has cooked for you?

I cook for myself and my man on the reg and he is good about doing dishes too! However, having his 2 1/2 year old daughter as sous chef is challenging to say the least

Casual works for me.

In fact, I just like women who CAN cook.
Correction... I tend to like women who WANT to cook. Period.

Personally, I like / want to cook for my lady sometimes, when dating.
I always believed in the '50/50 rule' when it comes to small things like that.
(i.e. Do for me, and i'll do for you. And vice versa. ya dig?)

But I'm in my 30's... live in a major city... and I seem to meet lots of attractive, but domestically lazy, 'professional'-type women. :smh:

(i.e. the type of women who are always out 'networking' 24/7 during the week ... but don't ever consider making a nice at-home meal... even on the weekends.)

Over the past 10 years, it seems the only black women I've dated who MIGHT EVEN consider entering a kitchen, every once-in-awhile... without being asked FIRST... are 'single moms'.

Don't get me wrong... I've dated quite a few (single, w/ no kids) black women who are REAL QUICK to throw small 'house parties', just to show-off their culinary skills for their (married) girlfriends ... yet are always 'too tired', or unmotivated to do the same for me. :smh:

And if they ever did, it was only after a LENGTHY discussion first.:smh:

So nowadays I just drop 'em REAL quick... as soon as I see that whole 'non-cooking' attitude start to surface. :hmm:
Regardless of how attractive they are.

Funny thing is.... over the last 10 years... ALOT of my homeboys now date either white or hispanic chics... who be on some ol' gourmet swagger... and are in happy relationships.

Their girlfriends just get in the kitchen... and tell my potnas to sit, relax & have a beer (or watch the game) while they 'do the damn thing'. Without even being asked, or prompted to do so.

Go figure.

I feel obligated to help out in one way or another whenever ANYBODY invites me over for dinner ... my mom raised me that way

This is the first somewhat postive post I've read about single moms on BGOL lol ... we're used to cooking everyday for our children anyway so that's probably why

I have no problem doing that once I feel comfortable in the relationship ... I mean I enjoy spoiling my man ... the problem is some men who will try and take advantage of that (but that's a different topic)

this is a very good thread,,,i look at how good a womans Domestic skills are in considering a serious relationship,,in fact i just broke up with my lady today and the majority of the problem was her domestic skills(and taking care of business)one of my most treasured relationship was with a pretty chick who used to be fat before we met but had lost all the weight.she could cook her as off,i would love to watch and help her could dinner,,we would have the most intimate evenigs, cooking, talking ,eating, relaxing, and then screwing like beasts in the field, damn i miss that shit,,she looked like Alicia Keys in the face,,she would get up in the morning and cook me breakfast before work, screw like a porn star,,she woul literally greet me at the door with a blowjob and in the end she was worried about me cheating on her,,i would have drunk her daddy's bathwater,,,sorry ya'll i got caught up,,,BTW me and doggish might have to fight about DeSire;)
