Congratulations to Somali Pirates

None is given!!!! Yes we had Bush in office who couldn't find his own state on the map if it were to save his life. Somalis been fucked up long before bush got into office and i hate to say it but our poorest is the Somalis richest. Now you can argue and say that doesn't represent all Somalis, it doesn't, Katrina doesn't represent all America. Somalia been fucked up long before the West even looked that way!!

Is this a joke?

If they even have half a brain they will realize if you jump on an American ship you get killed. They been getting away with this sh*t with countries that pay up. If they see an American flag on a boat they will wait till the next one comes by.

Not a joke, the high seas stakes just got higher, the price for American captive has increase. I do recall "black Hawk Down". All this incident does is bring in more of the fanatics.

It wasn't so long ago you guys were crying about how the US government had failed you in Katrina.....
So maybe a more sympathetic tone for their plight might be in order!!!

DON'T TELL THAT LIE I DIDN'T CRY AT ALL. I DID SEND A CHECK AND HELPED SOME VICTIMS. AFTER THAT I WENT ON WITH MY LIFE.

Dumbass thread. The stupidest thing the Somali pirates could have done was taken American hostages. They have been doing their thing and getting $$$ for years on the lowkey tip and now they are the leading news story worldwide. :smh: They just made their jobs much, much harder.
May be.

Here we go..u dumb ass cunts are drawing me into this thread with your Sheer fucking ignorance.
Now speaking as someone who has been in West Africa, during a fucking civil war, and who now dates a Liberian girl with contacts in both US, UK and Africa. U know I speak from experience and not some armchair quarterback bullshit...
So..it is not guts, or balls or bravery...COMPREHEND these dumb ass pricks are uneducated, young, likely parentless, and living in a gang like envorilment with no idea how folks in the real world live and act. To them raping a young girl or shooting up a house full of people is just another REGULAR day. They HAVE NO IDEA that what their doing is wrong. I mean they know its bad, but to them it's cool, and big to do that. They are surrounded by other dumb asses, and a few smart cunts that use these dumb fucks to get shit done.
Very fucking sad, but the majority of African countries are like this, it is truly the forgotten continent, all the aid, $$, support the continent gets and nothing ever changes..I mean just look at the dumb (and I mean SUPERDUMB) bitches all hanging out on the coast wanting to marry a fucking PIRATE!! WTF!! like the lads there wouldn't just fuck all them hoes pass them around and maybe cut off a tittie or two then send them back to their villages pregnant!! DUMB ASSES!!!!
Alright I'm off my soap box...either way wait for the SEALS, or the like to fuck those pirates up...only a matter of time. Oh, and by the way, as my brothers who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan can tell you...U might look WELL HARD with that RPG, but once u fire it u better fucking hit what u aim for coz if not u r gonna get ASS RAPED REAL QUICK!!!

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! U dumb cunts still don't fucking get it...walk a mile in these cats shoes:confused:...THEY MADE A CHOICE....based off of SHEER IGNORANCE! They do NOT know any fucking better...they are/were broke ass uneducated, no life motherfuckers, who have NO IDEA what the end result of what they are doing can lead them..they live for the DAY! DAY IN DAY OUT...
IGNORANCE KILLS! And in their case.... it fucking got these cunts str8 up MERKED!!!
Rambo in the house.:lol::lol::lol:

Possibly.

:lol::lol:@ the responses. Niggas acting like some how the Somalis are less than you just because blacks in America got a little change. Its going to be funny when these same commandos start patrolling the streets in America. We'll see if these these guys can tell the difference between a nigga in Somalia and a nigga from America.:lol::lol:

DON'T TELL THAT LIE I DIDN'T CRY AT ALL. I DID SEND A CHECK AND HELPED SOME VICTIMS. AFTER THAT I WENT ON WITH MY LIFE.

Well the tv pictures we got were of nuff people crying about how the US government don't love black people...You must have been one of those cheering for the government that wasn't shown on tv then....

Somalia also has demonstrated that Obama appears to be out of his depth again, paralyzed by indecision, and surrounded by Harvard graduates, none of whom have any executive experience either.

Imagine what Putin would do under these circumstances!

:lol::lol:Now what????

I agree with this. It ain't going keep them from fucking with US ships, but it will keep them from taking chances. If the negotiations are slow, Yanks are dying.

...and we will hunt them back.

u mean like the Taleban in Afghanistan?

u know Shaykh Usama is watching events closely in that region..

As long as Americans are not giving ISLAMIC COURTS full support in Somalia, this will turn to be a really nasty one

It ain't about brotherhood (at least not internationally), it's about revolution that's spilled over slightly into greed and a means for national pride (as well as survival).

Everybody is dumping their sewage waste in your frontyard, and stealing from your vegetable garden in your backyard...

... Do you really understand the motivation behind what they're doing, or are you just watching CNN?

Please!!
What part of that vessel do you own!!!
And they have as much worth as you have!!
i own part that vessel because my tax money goes to fund the DOD, which is obligated to protect the interest of our nation! If it wasn't for the Navy steping in, the captain would probably be dead.

With the weapons they have, it looks like they can sink the ship. You don't stand a chance trying to take them on.

Cot D@m Lenny!!!

I didn't know you recognized like that!!!

Big props!!!!

to the mafukkas that are supporting the pirates...

if it was your relative they took hostage for god knows how many days... would u still support their cause? would u pay up money u dont have? or would u get ur relative back by any means necessary?

Truth of the matter is: You have no control over where your tax dollars go... at all

All you know is that it is taken from your check!

This is real shit that you can't deny...

So you can fantasize that your tax dollars are paying this and that, but you really don't know.... because it's beyond your control...

Stop sleeping...

These guys are bandits. Some of you ninjas kill me always trying to romaticize Africans. These dudes would gut you like a fish given the chance. All the US has to do is strafe them a few times and this shit will stop. Sheeyit!!

stop with the hypothetical shit. we know that tax money is used in the federal budget.

ain't no one sleeping, i don't care how the fuck the money is cut up. if one red cent is spent of mine, then I have an ownership.

Imagine what Putin would do under these circumstances!

Do you know how long it took him to appoint US Undersecretary for African Affairs? This new administration should have shown it can play a major part in rebuilding Somalia and not the stance taken by the Bush administration especially the one taken by Jendayi Frazer (former undersecretary for African Affairs under Bush)

I see where you getting at but dude imagine tha was your dad being kidnapped in that ship waiting for days or months for ransom money. the american guy the captain got national coverage what about the regualr crew memebers from other countries. I see you point but still.....:smh: I understand their hustle but :smh:.

Well let just say this, to the guys who think that they asses will somehow be exempt from when "commandos" patrol our streets. Take your asses over to Somalia right now and live in the slums with them, you and your high speed internet, no better yet live in Haiti, and tell me how it is. Black is despised everywhere even in Africa of all places. When you place thievery for heroism there is something fucked up for real!!!

how obama and the world reacts now in the aftermath of this rescue (plus the little-covered french rescue this week too) will be crucial...

i think they definitely about to step up patrols/aggression against the pirates but if you affect their ability to make money thru this, what the fuk they gonna do next? you potentially opening the door to them pillaging neighboring countries and further destabilizing an already unstable region of the world...

too bad black hawk down happened, cuz this shit shoulda been dealt with back in '94 (15 goddamn years ago!!!) but now you have a bunch of little warlords beefin' like they pac and biggie instead of one main warlord who was in control of everything...

sounds just like saddam and iraq; now that he's gone all you have is a power vacuum and every tom, dick and ahmed trying to take his place

that "again" part is confusing me.
lol

funny how the people in all these pirate threads actually think Obama is running the show when it comes to all his "tough decision making". Once again, President Obama is just another weak Negroid and very dumbfounded. Research his history......nothing bold about him..trust me. Props to his puppetmasters ....i guess. Clinton part 3.

This showed you don't know what the fuck you talking about. He was planning and weighing his options as he should have. When the opportunity presented itself he merked them Somali bastards. I have no sympathy for any thief that would take another man hostage. They got what was coming to them and I hope more are killed very soon.
This isn't a hustle it's inhumane and disgusting to take people from their family for months. Anybody that thinks this is cool can go to hell. fuck them and you too for sympathizing. Who imagined that in 2009, the world's governments would be declaring a new War on Pirates? As you read this, the British Royal Navy - backed by the ships of more than two dozen nations, from the US to China - is sailing into Somalian waters to take on men we still picture as parrot-on-the-shoulder pantomime villains. They will soon be fighting Somalian ships and even chasing the pirates onto land, into one of the most broken countries on earth. But behind the arrr-me-hearties oddness of this tale, there is an untold scandal. The people our governments are labeling as "one of the great menace of our times" have an extraordinary story to tell -- and some justice on their side.

Pirates have never been quite who we think they are. In the "golden age of piracy" - from 1650 to 1730 - the idea of the pirate as the senseless, savage thief that lingers today was created by the British government in a great propaganda-heave. Many ordinary people believed it was false: pirates were often rescued from the gallows by supportive crowds. Why? What did they see that we can't? In his book Villains of All nations, the historian Marcus Rediker pores through the evidence to find out. If you became a merchant or navy sailor then - plucked from the docks of London's East End, young and hungry - you ended up in a floating wooden Hell. You worked all hours on a cramped, half-starved ship, and if you slacked off for a second, the all-powerful captain would whip you with the Cat O' Nine Tails. If you slacked consistently, you could be thrown overboard. And at the end of months or years of this, you were often cheated of your wages.

Pirates were the first people to rebel against this world. They mutinied against their tyrannical captains - and created a different way of working on the seas. Once they had a ship, the pirates elected their captains, and made all their decisions collectively. They shared their bounty out in what Rediker calls "one of the most egalitarian plans for the disposition of resources to be found anywhere in the eighteenth century." They even took in escaped African slaves and lived with them as equals. The pirates showed "quite clearly - and subversively - that ships did not have to be run in the brutal and oppressive ways of the merchant service and the Royal navy." This is why they were popular, despite being unproductive thieves.

The words of one pirate from that lost age - a young British man called William Scott - should echo into this new age of piracy. Just before he was hanged in Charleston, South Carolina, he said: "What I did was to keep me from perishing. I was forced to go a-pirating to live." In 1991, the government of Somalia - in the Horn of Africa - collapsed. Its nine million people have been teetering on starvation ever since - and many of the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country's food supply and dump our nuclear waste in their seas.

Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone, mysterious European ships started appearing off the coast of Somalia, dumping vast barrels into the ocean. The coastal population began to sicken. At first they suffered strange rashes, nausea and malformed babies. Then, after the 2005 tsunami, hundreds of the dumped and leaking barrels washed up on shore. People began to suffer from radiation sickness, and more than 300 died. Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, the UN envoy to Somalia, tells me: "Somebody is dumping nuclear material here. There is also lead, and heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury - you name it." Much of it can be traced back to European hospitals and factories, who seem to be passing it on to the Italian mafia to "dispose" of cheaply. When I asked Ould-Abdallah what European governments were doing about it, he said with a sigh: "Nothing. There has been no clean-up, no compensation, and no prevention."

At the same time, other European ships have been looting Somalia's seas of their greatest resource: seafood. We have destroyed our own fish-stocks by over-exploitation - and now we have moved on to theirs. More than $300m worth of tuna, shrimp, lobster and other sea-life is being stolen every year by vast trawlers illegally sailing into Somalia's unprotected seas. The local fishermen have suddenly lost their livelihoods, and they are starving. Mohammed Hussein, a fisherman in the town of Marka 100km south of Mogadishu, told Reuters: "If nothing is done, there soon won't be much fish left in our coastal waters."

This is the context in which the men we are calling "pirates" have emerged. Everyone agrees they were ordinary Somalian fishermen who at first took speedboats to try to dissuade the dumpers and trawlers, or at least wage a 'tax' on them. They call themselves the Volunteer Coastguard of Somalia - and it's not hard to see why. In a surreal telephone interview, one of the pirate leaders, Sugule Ali, said their motive was "to stop illegal fishing and dumping in our waters... We don't consider ourselves sea bandits. We consider sea bandits [to be] those who illegally fish and dump in our seas and dump waste in our seas and carry weapons in our seas." William Scott would understand those words.

No, this doesn't make hostage-taking justifiable, and yes, some are clearly just gangsters - especially those who have held up World Food Programme supplies. But the "pirates" have the overwhelming support of the local population for a reason. The independent Somalian news-site WardherNews conducted the best research we have into what ordinary Somalis are thinking - and it found 70 percent "strongly supported the piracy as a form of national defence of the country's territorial waters." During the revolutionary war in America, George Washington and America's founding fathers paid pirates to protect America's territorial waters, because they had no navy or coastguard of their own. Most Americans supported them. Is this so different?

Did we expect starving Somalians to stand passively on their beaches, paddling in our nuclear waste, and watch us snatch their fish to eat in restaurants in London and Paris and Rome? We didn't act on those crimes - but when some of the fishermen responded by disrupting the transit-corridor for 20 percent of the world's oil supply, we begin to shriek about "evil." If we really want to deal with piracy, we need to stop its root cause - our crimes - before we send in the gun-boats to root out Somalia's criminals.

The story of the 2009 war on piracy was best summarised by another pirate, who lived and died in the fourth century BC. He was captured and brought to Alexander the Great, who demanded to know "what he meant by keeping possession of the sea." The pirate smiled, and responded: "What you mean by seizing the whole earth; but because I do it with a petty ship, I am called a robber, while you, who do it with a great fleet, are called emperor." Once again, our great imperial fleets sail in today - but who is the robber?

Since you dropped a Colin friendly article, what do you suggest the next step for lawless Somalia. They take hostages, we give them millons, since western countries have been raping them and their country, what do you suggest, no more bitching give a suggestion on what Somalia should do and what the western countries should do as well

Well why don't the pirates only target the ships that are engaged in the massive illegal fishing? This would give them some type of credibility that they do this for a reason other than greed. I understand that desperate times call for desperate measures, but you have to be careful not to become what you are fighting against. Cause aren't the Somali pirates engaged in massive illegal pirating? So they are in turn practice the same thing they are supposed to be fighting against.

I asked this question on page 3 followed by

Why don't the pirates ONLY target the ships that are responsible for the things you posted. I never said those things don't happen, I simply stated that those should be the ships they pirate. Because if they don't allow you to do your job as a fisherman, then by pirating those ships would supplement your income. And if your pirating caused then to stop, you could resume fishing, hence allowing you to do what you want to do in the 1st place, right?

And have yet to get a response

What's funny to me is those niggas actually thought that the US Govt would negotiate with them. Muthafuckas better realize the US did not get to the top by being weak, Navy Seals went in and handle business! Note to Somali's don't fuck with the United States!
