Got a chance to meet him at an autograph signing at one of the local malls in the 90s. Had a Canucks wallet on me and he signed that.

He was a regular highlight waiting to happen. Fast as fuck.

He was something else.

That '94 Playoff run was wild. Rangers took them out in Game 7. Only for the Canucks to lose another Game 7 Final nearly 17 years later to the day to Boston ... and yet more rioting in the city. Just watched the ESPN 30 for 30 about the 2011 riots a few months back (from last year).

Funny side note ... some of the bad bitches in junior high who were sports fans had Michael Jordan and Pavel Bure posters in their lockers. Most of us guys had hiphop posters and bikini broads in ours, haha.

I still remember sitting at the bus stop with buses going by with the "Go Canucks Go" going across their scroll thinking ... "Wow ... they might actually win this whole thing."

It was mid-June. Mom said we should head downtown that night to see the celebrations, win or lose. I couldn't as I was cramming for a Math final the next morning. Sitting there with my cereal the next day and she was like - "Shit ... aren't you glad we didn't go downtown last night?"
