Between Doom, Thanos and maybe Namor, no one so arrogantly speaks down to people better.Be they hero or villain.

Shit, look at The Crew. The book was canceled by issue four. Retailers order the first 3-4 months of a comic before the issue even hits the stands. If they're in cancelation territory by the 4th issue than that means it was basically canceled before the first reader got his hands on it.
"They don't really care about us"
Thanos has ruled worlds, ruled next to Death and briefly ruled all creation. Funny thing is that he actually does care and respects certain people/foes.(i.e Surfer, Gamora and Adam Warlock)
Either way, this is the Dr. Doom I would have lived to see on the big screen.A Monarch, not a jealous scientist.

I hate to say it but THE CREW sucked. I have all 4 issues and from the very first issue, I could tell who ever wrote it and drew it got their interpretation of black people from 1970's and 80's TV. They had the "Black Muslim" on the team (Josiah X) but got a few "facts" about "Black Muslims" mixed up that made me cringe.
What killed the TRUTH - RED WHITE AND BLACK wasn't its story but its Art. I remember I was building with some Black Panther about it and dude was hyped to check it out. When I brought him the issues, he was turned off by the art and said "for a comic thats suppose to be serious, the art looks like its for kids".
In order for a comic with a black character to do good, they need to leave the whole "Race Relations" or "Taking it to THE MAN" out of it.
In conclusion, Dr. Voodoo is doing fairly well because its all about a dude with powers. Luke Cage is seen by most as the default leader of New Avengers. Black Panther is still going strong.
For those that are interested...I highly recommend this novel on heroes of a different color

The Crew was written by Christopher Priest aka Jim Owsley...a black man. I enjoyed it, but whether it was bad or weaksauce wasn't the point I was making. The shit was canceled before the first issue touched anyone's hands.
I never saw Nat Turner. You got any links to it?Yeah I was definitely disappointed in Kyle Baker for that one. Look at what he did on Nat Turner, that's the shit he should have brought to The Truth.
Brother Voodoo's 1st issue sold 16k which is cancellation territory. The first issue is usually the highest ordered so unless a big push is made it's already a wrap for him. That's another rule for minority heroes, if you replace a powerful white hero then they'll give you the Obama treatment.

Ya know at the black superhero message board someone brought up something similar to this about that Blue Marvel series, when they made his wife whiteThat's why every black sit-com has the white best friend or neighbor, Same reason they made Spawn's best friend white for the feature film. If you have an all black cast then you have a "black" movie. Whites will not go see it.
Another thing is that most writers that write "black" comics (one shots or series) feel that they have to be political or fight the power in some way.
Sometimes you just feel like reading a kick, bam, pow old school style entertaining comic.
I hope I don't spoil it for anyone planning to read Emissary but I read that in the end he turned out to be the AntichristYou can never expect Marvel or DC to ever do 'minority' stories well. Not saying they never have. They have 'tried.' The thing is that when stories do come out that cater to that audience...the support for it is low.
