The Crew

12965_4_007.jpg

Writer: Christopher Priest, Artist:Joe Bennett

* Junta - Daniel "Danny" Vincent, freelance intelligence agent and con man.
* Justice - Josiah "Josiah X" Bradley, son of Isaiah Bradley the black Captain America.
* Kasper Cole - Kevin "Kasper" Cole, the White Tiger is heir in waiting to the Black Panther.
* War Machine - Jim Rhodes, friend of Iron Man.
Why white people shouldn't write black comics. :smh: The Crew sucked big time. It was so wrong on so many levels.

THE CREW was written by Christopher Priest. He was the writer of the long-running Black Panther series just before the new Reggie Hudlin version. He was one of the original quiet-as-kept contributors to Milestone comics. He's also Black.

Someone mentioned Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

The Sandman is a 75-part comic book series, written by Neil Gaiman. The central character in the series is Dream, also known as Morpheus, also known by many other names, one of the Endless. He is captured in 1916 by an occult group, and held prisoner until he escapes in 1988. The consequences of his imprisonment become clear in the course of the series.

This has been considered one of the greatest comics of all-time. It launched the Vertigo line, Neil Gaiman's career and opened the comics medium to a whole bunch of people who thought that comics were for children

whats it about?

very small town, you know, the kind where everything and everyone feels trapped, as if in a bubble. and when an anonymous hookup goes REALLY wrong - putting to shame ANYthing ever confessed on the threads of bgol board - the town in the bubble must come together or die, one by gruesomely human one.

although the story is done in only 24 issues, a lot of the joy of the book comes from getting to know the town through its collection of characters, who, in turn you get to know by their conversations. the dialogue and interactions in the series help the story really unfold, in a way that for a lot of fans is one of the most surprising, refreshing, engaging and just plain fun things happening, and unfortunately ENDING next month, in comics today.

if you venture inside the bubble, enjoy

The Sandman - The Dream Hunters

Sandman fans should feel lucky that master fantasy writer Neil Gaiman discovered the mythical world of Japanese fables while researching his translation of Hayao Miyazaki's film Princess Mononoke. At the same time, while preparing for the Sandman 10th anniversary, he met Yoshitaka Amano, his artist for the 11th Sandman book. Amano is the famed designer of the Final Fantasy game series. The product of Gaiman's immersion in Japanese art, culture, and history, Sandman: Dream Hunters is a classic Japanese tale (adapted from "The Fox, the Monk, and the Mikado of All Night's Dreaming") that he has subtly morphed into his Sandman universe.

Sandman - Endless Nights

Now that he's a bestselling fantasy novelist, Gaiman returns to the comics series that made his reputation with this new volume of seven gorgeously illustrated stories. Gaiman specializes in inventing fantastic allegories for the quotidian, in a voice that casually shifts between uneasy realism and Borgesian grandeur. In Sandman cosmology, "The Endless" are seven immortal siblings who personify abstract concepts: Dream, Death, Destiny and so on. This work devotes a story to each of them, drawn in distinctly different styles by an all-star lineup of American, British and European cartoonists and fine artists. Gaiman is famous for writing to his artists' strengths, and he does so here. P. Craig Russell draws the surreal fantasia "Death and Venice" with the opulent brio of his opera adaptations. "What I've Tasted of Desire" is a darkly sexual fable, painted by Milo Manara in the style of his more X-rated work. A couple of the stories find Gaiman working in a more experimental mode than usual, notably "Fifteen Portraits of Despair," a set of anecdotes and prose poems accompanied by Barron Storey's tormented, abstract drawings and paintings. Longtime comics fans will notice plenty of inside jokes in "The Heart of a Star," but most of this book is a red carpet-or perhaps a Persian rug-rolled out for Gaiman's prose readers to see his visions turned into lush, dramatic images.

It's about this guy who doesn't have much success with women who meets this weird girl strange things start happening after that. There is an Alien race of female bent on fucking the human race out of existence. It's pretty realistic so far, the characters and the peoples reactions and behavior. Story is pretty good kinda thriller/horror/mystery/suspenseful.
