@ 1:00:07. No association for 19 years and you can feel their rift still cuts deep but Eric is taking the high road for business sake.

His beef with Xtra P, clears up production rumors, why they turned down collaborations ( including Self Destruction album ). His associations with gangstas including the Bushes. Good interview.

BTW, that's a young Wyclef playing bass in the video.

I didn't understand it, because at one point he said that him and Rakim hadn't talked in almost 20 years and then he said he just saw him.

Probably saw him in passing or happened to be in same venue/event/location. But hasnt held an actual conversation with him in years.

Always wondered why Will sounded like Ra on Summertime.

Turns out this song was originally for Eric B & Rakim and they turned it down. Will's flow was actually a tribute to Ra.

according to eric b , ra turned it down.

lol yeah I caught that. Much respect, but he seems to just wanna hear himself talk.

Walked away not knowing what was true and what aint

man Jack directs some GREAT interviews. Never knew that Eric B was a muslim. I thought the 5 percent angle came primarily from Rakim. Crazy that he slants the story that HE put Rakim on, instead of Rakim being the engine of the duo. I always think of Rakim (lyrics and god flow) vs the beats made by Eric. Also as much as the clothing and cars were part of the image, maybe I heard the records wrong. I took more stories of self reflection, women, social analysis, knowledge of self...more than say rapping about rolls royce's over and over.

and fuck him for that bullshit video for don't sweat the technique. trying to sell south american women as fucking exotic. Grown ass man, still with that self hate bullshit.

That nigga Eric B is a MUTHAFUCKIN LIAR. Nobody went behind his back and said shit to Rakim. Also, the In the Ghetto track was done by guy named Paul McCasty aka Paul C... He died right before Eric and Rakim went into the studio. Large was the ONLY person who could re-do that track. I was at those studio sessions. Eric B didn't do shit but sit on the phone and occasionally turn the volume up or down. The REAL. reason Eric was mad because Large told the truth about how he produced both Eric b and Kool G Rap's Wanted Dead or Alive album. Him and Rakim's problem started long before Large got involved. As far as Rakim rhyming over Summer Madness... It wasn't Large who dissed that idea... It was his OWN niggas who did that. You have to understand... Eric and these dudes were 26yrs old and better... Niggas like Large... Myself ... Nas...Fatal... We were fucking TEENAGERS. You mean to tell me that a group of 4 or 5 teenage boys...whom at that time...idolized you niggas... caused yall to break up??? Really ??? FOH!!! I liked the interview...He did say some shit that I do agree with and I can vouch for Paid in Full Posse... Those dudes were official... But when it comes him making ANY MUSIC... ERIC B NEVER MADE A SINGLE BEAT IN HIS LIFE. Stop lying Eric... You're a Grandpappy now.

This man is speaking the truth.. Eric never even did the scratches on their albums.. I was there..preme magnetic..federal..pop..Freddie foxx..sha..
I was like 14 those dudes were already in they mid 20's.. All those dudes used to be at Eric's crib in the Hurst..95th street..

I waited patiently for this.

His whole thing seemed to be I brought or suggested the sample to use. He used that same argument with Marley and Large Pro. I didn't get that either, because that isn't production.

I also didn't get how he thought an album cover was a problem, but not a video with a bunch of white looking chicks.

What I wanna know is......WHO the FUCK DID THOSE WACK AZZ SCRATCHES TO BEGIN WITH??? I'm sorry but coming from Philly/Del WE

In 86 or 87 I helped bring Eric B. and Rakim to Compton to perform at skateland. We picked up Eric and his boys first. That ninja didn't even know how to work the damn tables. He asked me to bring a set of 12's to his hotel room before the show to "practice" Seeing that dude "live" on the wheels of steel was a fucking travesty. Right then I realized he was a fucking fraud. Some dudes suck at scratching/Dj'ing but you can tell they have done it before. With Eric you could tell he had no skills or idea at all. He could barely get the record going man.

I always thought they broke up cause Rakim wanted to get away from that pelico money that EricB put up.

I wasn't close enuf to know dude, but knew his friends. Been to his crib twice in Queens and met him. And dude had heavy weight in the crib right in front of us. My boy was tight with him and I knew a lot of street dudes back then. So my assumption, from what little I knew, was Rakim probably got fronted the money to produce his stuff, Eric was just showing his face, but backed all the music with the street money. That's what I was told. I can't vouch first hand what's true, just what was being said by peeps who knew them way back. And everything yall saying about him mixing or whatever is funny, never thought he was a DJ, maybe the public perceived that. Dude moved weight. Nothing else...

I could have sworn they were reunited with a phone call a few years ago and talked. This is bullshit.
