Colombia...For Realz?

Looks like I'll have to put that location on the list then
My experience might be a little different. I went with a large group. The organizers had some stuff set up like a house where everyone had their own rooms and bathrooms, drivers and concierges, activities and dinners set up. But I think some of the same things can be done on your own. Cartagena was dope too. I went there solo.

I think it's possible to get around. More people spoke English in medellin than cartagena. My main issue was thinking I'm paying too much for things. I would suggest getting a good grasp of thr money so you don't over pay.

As a person who lives in Colombia half them videos be on some bs and the other half be decent real info. Colombia is easy to get around in and if you don't know spanish you can still survive though the experience can be a bit less. Though a lot of those videos don't be saying the real story most of the time but i'd recommend anyone to come to Colombia....just don't act the fool.

Do tell...I have a friend who retired down there and gives nothing but positive things to say and also what you noted.

you hit it on the head. you are going to get the gringo treatment and that means you are paying higher prices. if you dont speak spanish, you have to stick to the three tourist cities and that means you are looked as a target or someone to get money from. once you speak conversational spanish, you can venture out to cali, santa maria, barranqilla, bello...women about their business, more traditional, and better for you long term. you can get a quality girl without the feminist bs. if you just trying to smash, then yeah, medellin, carta, bogota and stick to the tourist areas.

I'm not saying its not great living here but I think in most videos you see on youtube they paint a picture that's 80% real and 20% I paid a girl for this experience so your results may vary. Now some of the guys who do straight travel blogs those are normally on point because they're just showing you around the city. If the goal is to p4p you will never struggle to find something worth your time but I'm also a dude who's gonna say look at those vids but remember don't get too comfortable because guys get robbed and drugged every day if they come here and aren't being mindful.

if you trying to smash and thats all you want then little to no spanish is fine but you're getting treated like tourist and if you're not paying attention to your surrounds you can get got by a little 4'10 chica. If you're going for more and want to really branch out learning the language even a bit goes a long way because colombians have no problem being patient with bad spanish. It's all about what you're looking for, I live in an area called Laureles, never had an issue and love every second, and would recommend visiting colombia to anyone who wants to come but know what you're coming for and move accordingly.

On the beach you got people offering:

Massage
Bracelet
Fish
Crab
Pictures
Jet ski
BBQ hot dogs
Mango
Beer
Water
Souvenirs
Sandals
Tshirts

You get 3-5 min of peace and then the next group of mufuckas come offering the same shit.

The 100x worse than the niggas sellin socks on the L in the Chi back in the day.

Reminds me of the DR about 12 years ago. Keep us updated. I have a a good friend who had a great time there but he was visiting from another city he currently lives.

And these wack ass rappin mufuckas is the worst. Especially when they see a black man.

They run up on you with a speaker and a mic with some 1986 Casio beat, spit some shit for 30 seconds and put they hat out for money like you just witnessed Fresh-Fest Cartagena or some shit.

Had 3 mufuckas follow me around for a sec with that bullshit today during a walking tour and I fuckin snapped.

Later I told the tour guide that this shit is what’s gone slow down tourism from people in the US.

That and the long slow ass line in immigration.

Im here with wifey, but once you get past people trying to sell you shit, the vibe is cool, the food is good, and the chicks are top notch beautiful. The Black man gets much love here. Especially if you speak Spanish.

I’m in Cartagena right now. These street vendors are the WORST. Especially on the beach in Bocagrande. I understand that hustlers gotta make their money and make up for time lost during the pandemic, but GAT-DAMN!!!!

Give a nigga some space.
man, you should gave us a heads up. avoid bocagrande. you cant relax. other beaches are quieter.

lol you sound like me when I first went. My patience was thin. Carta in the square is only good for Cafe Del Mar or clubbing at night. During the day, shit is just annoying. Your day trips should be to islands or at the mall. Then you return at night for dinner and clubbing.

It’s best to get an Airbnb and then hit up a private island if you want some beach time.

Private island is like 200 mil pesos per person ($50 as of right now).

When it’s time to kick it, throw a cab driver 20 mil pesos ($5) to drop you outside of the club, go in, find a dime and then have your Uber waiting for you to scoop you.

Better yet…do your homework before hand and hit up Tinder and have one waiting for you.
