it fuuny how people say they like this movie? can you tell me why???

I liked the action in it. The way it was filmed was taken to a new level compared to other movies that were filmed the same way. It made you feel a sense of urgency the way everything went down. The acting was very good. They reacted to what was around them like most people would have. Sound and special affects were also over the top for the filming style. Watching that thing fuck new york up like that was shock and awe.

Thats why i liked it but it won't matter to you because you damn well you don't care why we liked it. You seem like you don't have a imagination so you will never see movie like other people do. Now if it was soul plane i think it would have been the bomb. Thats more on you level i guess. Let the grown folks watch the real movies while you stick to the fisher price ones.

THIS MOVIE WAS A HOT MESS

JJ Abrams didnt direct for 1

Blair Witch was good because it felt authentic.

In Cloverfield the characters lack of self preservation made it hard to digest and once we saw the cg monsters is was over

I was also hoping for some sci-fi element. We know nothing about the creature

DVD or DL

Thats how life goes sometimes. Theres not always a happy ending or a book worth of info about a monster no one has ever seen in some random computer you find. Another person thats used to the same formula of the same old movies. Use your imagination my friend. There shit that my fam wants to know about some of the ops he's run for the military but never will. He knows what he saw and they wanted him to know. He's content with that and he liked the movie.

you can't win with people. granted, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but a lot of opinion are just baseless or sometimes silly.

hollywood has a movie formula. people complain that movies are obvious and predictable. then once in a while, you get a different type of movie (whether story, characters, ending, cinematography, editing, what have you) and people still complain. no win situation.

i look at movies in a couple of different ways since i studied film and work in the industry. i look at the direction, the story, the characters, the production, the post-production. but mostly, i ask myself after watching a movie, was i educated, enlightened, or at least entertained, if so i can check off at least one, it's all good and i give my thumbs up.

if you hated it so much, take solace, the shit was a lil over an hour, which isn't much time. you woulda prolly wasted that hour on BGOL. ;)

Well the batteries was about him getting back to 'ole girl. He couldn't save his brother but he was going to be damned if he couldn't save old chick. Bottom line the movie was good, but improbable because human are about survival first not about running around to save people in "extreme" conditions....I would have gotten out of dodge when I saw the head fall....

Man, fuck that...after that first "tremor" I woulda been on the stairwell getting the fuck outta dodge!!!

what the fuc happen in the end on the beach. I paid close attention, I didn't see shit. I Heard there was there something on the right of the beach, I didn't catch it.

The helicopter to carry them off before they destroyed the city

The movie was a roller coaster, but the
ending was worthless..

The ending was great...we need more movies where shit aint all honky dory at the end. Fuck having heroes & shit like that. Like easy said years ago, "(my baby aint never hurt nobody)but he still got smoked @ baybay's party". Shit happens in real life & niggas won't always survive. I like these endings

Cause it's different. Yeah, there's corny shit in it, but its not like every other cookie cutter scary movie out there. Its original

I have to disagree..the movie was actually pretty good...true enough there were times where i wanted to vomit from all the weird camera movement :puke: but over all the movie was entertaining as hell. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE THING?!?!?!?!?

Nail on the head. The dudes only used to a formula type of film.

BINGO! The movie was good. I've been thinking about it for a while in my head. How would I handle a disaster like that. The way it was shot made the shit seem real to me versus, "standing back and expecting" shit to go off. It was was a completely different take from the norm.

Some things are just over peoples heads I guess.

They really didn't hype it. You hyped yourself up for it.

Yep true statement I myself got to worked up over this movie it was alright. It wasn't wack but it was far from great.

Man only thing that was good about this movie was the view it made the movie and the white boy wit the camera was funny. What I don't get was why wasn't shit explained the monster just came outta no where then at the end u don't know if they killed it or not............ I tell you one thing the part where the helicopter they was on got hit and dude with the camera was copping plea's with god was crazy cuz I swear I would have been on that same shit.

And what the fuck happened to the bitch that got bit. Did the army kill her or she just exploded or what!

Oh and the ending was great hey it was sad but shit all endings can't be good ones

well i went to see the movie in memphis and everyone including myself thought it was stupid. true indeed it was "different", but a whole lot was lackin about this movie.. one quick question, did it live up to the hype?.. HELL NAHHHHH!!!!

after just seeing it, I must say I loved it! I'm very ready to see a sequel, whether they show a new take on the attack, or show ANOTHER ATTACK on another city *cough* LA *cough* with a cnn bulletin nod to the manhattan attack. treating it liuke an invasion that would be sick!! a take on the point of a backstory of the monster: It's all first person, basically you are watching these people and you know exactly what they know. it makes it a little more scary, (you have no idea what this thing is capable of) and it puts you more in their shoes to me, (what would you do, if you were stuck in manhattan?)

I thought it was good.

If you go into the movie expecting

- to get information spoon fed to you about what the monster is, where it came from, why it does what it does
- a happy ending where the humans find a fatal flaw in it and kill it heroically

Then your gonna be real disappointed. It's a monster movie seen through a camera and basically through the eyes of the attacked. iIt's a original and unique look. I think a sequel will be made, and in it we'll find out more about the monster.

I've heard rumors the second movie might be made through another camera that was taping the night of the attack.

I came to this thread earlier and despite the replies and reviews I seen I still watched the movie tonight. DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF!!!! That shit is not worth even watching it for free. I love movies of all kinds but this shit just flat out sucked. I did enjoy the special effects but the storyline and everything else was pure fuckin garbage. I get the sincere feeling that everybody replying to this thread and sayiung that it's good is pulling a serious fucking joke on whoever else goes and sees this shit. Like I said earlier don't do it to yourself:angry::smh::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Sorry if you don't like movies even if you say you do.

Peace. But yo seriously this movie was lacking in several departments. The characters only had minimal substance and the only dude that mattered was the cat with the camera. I saw a few symbolic images like the dude that shot the friend that got bit by the sewer creature was portrayed as a demon (or something funky) in a shadow. The creature itself was total bullshit without a explanation on what the fuck it was doing rampaging through the city like it was.
Overall I saw no real direction with the storyline and if this was supposed to be a love story with the ending comments then the entire movie was way way off track. I realize you enjoyed the movie but help me get some understanding on what I'm missing with my comments so that I can at least see what your points are for saying that it was a good movie.

your right

Yea....BUT HE ONLY FUCKED HER ONCE!

How can I love a woman I've only screwed once? I'd be cool with her maybe. We could go half on a twinky maybe...but LOVE....no sir.:smh:

First off, he didn't fuck her once, they were in a relationship before that. The fact they had sex was such an issue was because they did it when they were BROKEN UP. They're not together and they ended up having sex, so there's some attachment. That shows there's something there.

Also, alot of you guys are pussies. I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't live with myself if I had a voicemail from a girl who I loved crying about being hurt while being in that mess, and running for my safety while she's in that situation. I just couldn't.

A lot of you are on that bullshit saying a black man would leave his wife in that same situation, much less a girlfriend. Is that REALLY the stereotype you'd want to perpetuate?

But then again, that may be why black women are gravitating to white men now. Maybe they know if shit went down like that a white man would risk his life to save them, when a black man would be running to save his own life above all like a coward.

I can't front, me and my girl have problems, but if it were her on the other line and I felt I could get to her to help her, I would.

Sometimes in some movies, shit just happens. There doesn't need to be some deep character development and insight in every movie. This movie is a slice of what happens in a situation like this. All other movies may take a military route, and you see what happens on that end, well this movie is like placing a camera on some random ass group and we see what hapens to them.

Also, why the fuck do you need to know the intention of the monster? Why would it need to be explained? Is there gonna be a scene where the monster has a flashback, or have it tell you why its mad? No, it just happens!

In movies you DON'T need to pander to your audience and explain everything!

With that being said fuck the director for saying fuck me for not entertaining me for the money I paid to watch it. Check my posts in this thread and hit me up with something valid. Explain to me what I missed and let me know that my money was well spent. If not don't quote me with random bullshit and a weak defense of something you feel you like.

There is no point in trying to explain it to people who just don't get it.

It is as if they expected the monster to sit down and drop some profound dialog on why it's angry and why it's destroying the city.

This movie wasn't necessarily about the monster, it was about a group of people trying to survive during complete carnage. Everything is not going to be explained to people involved in dire circumstances that are occurring at a rapid pace. Do you think the victims that perished in the twin towers got a power point presentation about why two planes flew into both buildings????

the first sunday was good but we are talking about wack ass cloverfield
So you prefer unintelligent coon shit over substance then. GTFOH and learn better English. :hmm:

I'll admit that the lesser people would appreciate Cloverfield had it been shot more traditionally like a Godzilla movie. But obviously the director wanted to do something more original with it. I see what he was attempting and I thought it was a great first attempt. Not a movie for everyone. I'm just glad somebody in Hollywood is making movies that aren't for simps.

Or for some geek to explain it all.

It's just simple man. You don't have to explain everything. Nothing to it. I found a lot of fault in the film too, but I enjoy it for what it was, not for what it was not.

Sound like sompem I might like...but I'm not gonna pay 10 dollars to throw up. Shit...certain video games I can't even play now.

since everyone is praising The Host (and it IS a great movie) can anyone care to explain to me why The Host monster attacked and snatched the humans and why Godzilla attacked and destroy cities and it's just ''normal behavior of a 50+ foot tall monster?

Ok let me give some spots in the movie that fucked it up for me.

1. If a monster would have hit NY the streets would have been way more fucked up than that and all the power would have gone out.

2. I did not see anyone driving a car or running.

3. The air force would have had all kinds of shit in the air not just 3 jets.

4. Why is the girl the guy is in love with so dry and has roll at all.

5. Why is the chick that got killed by the monster bite acting like she is on drugs or something?

6. I the army would have found group of people in the mall the 1st thing they would have did would be to take the camera away from them and then check to see if anyone had injures.

7. After being attacked by the parasites the 1st time none of them think to go look for weapons.

This movie was way over hyped. I will take Godzilla over this any day.

You know you wrong for posting that Godzilla: Final Wars clip. That's my shit! But Cloverfield shouldn't be compared to that type of monster movie. Obviously the movie was something different on another level.

And would someone please sue Asylum Entertainment? I'm tired of seeing them rip-off every new Hollywood blockbuster...

That's cool I agree to disagree about a movie that was intended to entertain but failed in my eyes but succeeded in yours. Peace
