I'm not certain if this statement is funny or sad but one thing I know for a fact is that it's ignorant. The first 15 minutes display the life of young urban professionals, a title and/or designation that trancends race. But since you say that the "Yuppie" lifestyle is only for Whites you are saying that Blacks aren't capable of becoming Young Urban Professionals. Oh yeah and by the way what's so White about throwing a going away party for your friend that just became the Vice President of a company? Oh yeah, it's White because everytime a Black person goes away it's usually to Prison...can't throw a party for someone in the back of a cop car huh? Open your eyes, drop the stereotypes, we're not a race of homogenized people...not all of us are crack slinging, gang banging, mysoginist pigs. Honestly I thought that Blair Witch Sucked. But I thought Cloverfield was pretty hot. Action was better than expected. Especially the close up scenes with the Military. The Bridge scene caught me off guard though.

I stayed to the end of the credits and I think I guy survived. And I think he said "I'm still Alive" or something of that effect.:yes:
 
Whatever this creature was, it was obvious the govt knew about it before it hit Manhattan. It was odd how the military had M1 Tanks and M109 Paladins in Manhattan. It was like them things were already there pre-positioned.

Anybody noticed that whereever James went, the monster would turn up? It was like it was following him. It was also odd how it was standing over the wrecked chopper like it was "guarding" it or something.

It was a pretty good movie and yes different and I appreciated it. However I would have liked some idea on where the damn thing came from(I know broken record especially on this post), I liked the human element and everything, but I'm really one for explanations and details. Oh when Hud got snackeid on was funny as hell, did the thing bite his head off or what.:lol:

An why did it seem like that monster was chasing them where ever they went, NY is a pretty big place, but it was always on those three people's ass. I think it was a govt. experiment.:smh:

Good point. Well, you could look at it like a dinosaur movie. And maybe, just maybe it laid in egg. No pun intended. And it was just trying to protect it's nest. So they definitely could have a sequel in the works.

But the monster for most of the film was in the middle of Manhattan correct? and that is where is girl was, so that would explain why wherever they went, the monster was almost always around. Your suggestion that it was protecting a nest is also valid.

Bull shit. That whole movie was too organized and not enough chaos. Look the Brooklyn bridge scene showed people walking, even after the bridge was hit by the tentacle. It wasnt till the bridge started to fall, then we saw people running. Thats not realistic. Compare Cloverfield's Brooklyn bridge scene to I AM LEGEND Brooklyn bridge scene, and you will get my point.

Where was the post-apoclyptic pychos?? Go look at any REAL life tragedy that was filmed and you can see them on camera, and this movie is suppose to be close to reality as it possibly can and theres no nut jobs running around shooting at people or parasites? RIIIIGGHT


all in all the movie sucked ass. It had potential but failed on so many levels.

Are you from NY? because post-apoclyptic people probably wont be living in mid town or soho Mann thats very rich white people/ business areas where those people were located. Plus if you had a gun, and you saw tanks not putting a dent into that creature..... what type of gun would a civilian have. I dont think you would start playing "Doom" you be more interested in getting off Mann island.

Plus movie was from a single person view! it wasn't about every aspect of whats happening in NYC during the attack, because kats would been in the diamond district not taking no BS tvs.

If you don't live in Ny you cant start putting views of what happen out here. I heard people talking about why they didnt drive. I have a car and live in Ny and when i go to Mann i take the train on avg day the traffic is crazy, so during a "monster" attack i doubt a car be a great idea.

Its a movie not a documentary. Niggaz watch the mummy with crap running on the wall like spiders no one starts questioning the physics aspect of that. Just enjoy what it shows and thats it.

Saw the movie toady at a matinée. And I can whole heartedly say it was an entertaining movie. But it would have been recieved better if it was a big TV special and not a movie in the theater. I really could have waited on this one.

You do get to see the monster, and its unlike any previous giant monsters.

I know a lot of people theorize it could be Cuthulu but I think there are other possibilities.

1) The monster could have been a problem of another civilization and they some how were able to capture and launch it into space. The way it lumbered around the city for 7 hours seemed like it was confuse on where the fuck it was.

or

2) A biological weapon sent here but an alien race to destroy the earths civilization and start colonization of the planet. Its was interesting how it ripped the head off the Statue of Liberty when it could have easily just demolished the whole statue.

I liked it on a lot of aspects but hated it on a lot more as well. JJ better not fuck around like this with Star trek or his carreer will be over. The truth about the film is that ITS A LOVE STORY FIRST. A monster flick SECONDLY.

PS:I don't ever want to see another Blair Witch like fick ever again. Once is enough. Well maybe except if its from the Militarys point of view, because I want FUCKING ANSWERS.

It could have been a giant spaghetti monster for all we know. I hate movies like this. That don't explain anything. this movie is targetted tot he myspace generation. So they can sit at home, and theorize, making something out of nothing.

No, it's realistic that's what it is. When 9/11 happened cats wasn't pointing at the planes like "That's Al Qaida right there!" Know why? Because they didn't know what the fuck was going on and didn't find out until a week or so later. Seeing that this movie took place within the first 24 hours of the disaster it would explain why no one knew anything. They were the initial folks trying to survive the disaster and not the ones cleaning up and figuring everything out. In real life you don't get a view of what's going on in a top secret marine base while you're running for your life and cloverfield illustrates that perfectly. You just see a huge beast come out the sea and you start running for your life.

The fact that this is from the point of view of people in the middle of carnage has been brought up many times in this thread. How would anyone one of use get answers or a full scope of the story if we're running for our lives trying to stay alive throughout the entire ordeal????

Here we go again with comparing 'real life tragedies' to a hypothetical reality of an unknown monster attacking a city. Because obviously the actions exhibited in those events would be similar if not the same in the event of a monster attacking a city. I mean, obviously since you're an idiot and would act like one during this situation you expect everyone else to do exactly the same. Or based on 'past tragedies'. I'm sure since people looted during hurricane katrina, the exact same thing would be happening when they wern't worried about starvation - but being eaten alive. Yeah people would be fighting eachother and blowing up cars, while the monster is eating them alive and continuing to attack the city. So it's safe to say you can compare any real life tragedy to what happened in Cloverfield.

Do some simple math with me, IF the movie only lasted for 87 minutes AND everything we see in the movie is everything he filmed HOW DO YOU GET THE BATTERY LASTED 8 hours?

And for fuck sake did you watch Paris hiltons porno what kind of magic camera did she use it had night vision on it too :rolleyes:

Yes, that is why I want to watch the movie again because I heard the creature was caught on film when James was dating the girl he went back to save. There seems to be some implied connection.
